...For what they did to Lita and the Hardy Boyz that time.
It was very early in me watching wrestling, and I was very committed to the Lita and Matt relationship. I was 13.
Both Austin and Triple H have been permanent heel to me since then. It's the most brutal, unpleasant, unforgivable thing I've seen in wrestling, and I don't know how it isn't brought up more often as to how to truly make heels despicable.

I remember my 9 year old self being on the verge of tears when they beat the hell out of The Rock the night after WMX7, it still bothers me that The Rock never got proper revenge against HHH after that.

Still not as bad as HHH having sex with a mannequin. I loved DX as a kid and tolerated HHH well into the early 2000's, but the year 2002 was the final straw and I still hate him to this day.

As weird as it is to say, It's kind of sad that something like this can never happen again. Imagine if Ambrose just walked out after AJ's match and beat the shit out of her with a chair. The ground would melt beneath his feet with the amount of heat he would produce.

The ground would melt beneath his feet with the amount of heat he would produce. I can actually picture him doing that which is kinda scary. Although sometime after The Shield splits, I would really love to see an angle or pairing with Ambrose and AJ because the chemistry between them would be amazing.

If they tried that today we would see a phony apology on Twitter within hours of it airing due to the outcry that would occur.
Hitting a woman, when fitting the context of a story or character, is a great way to generate heel heat. Jake slapping Liz is still as chilling today as it was in 1991 (for me). I thought they went overboard with the Lita beat down, as hitting her with a million chair shots at full force should have injured her badly, but I don't recall how quickly she returned to TV after that. Wouldn't surprise me if it was a week.

Eh, it was brutal but it's still not to the level of Kane raping Lita then Lita/him begrudgingly getting together followed up by Lita being the heel because she lost the rape baby on purpose. That's pretty much the worst thing ever.

That segment was brilliantly done. It made Austin and HHH look like complete bastards. It was honestly one of the few times watching wrestling where I've felt legit uncomfortable

It worked, because it didn't just establish HHH and Austin as psychotic magnificent bastards, but in an instant Kane and Undertaker were big goddamn hero faces.
I miss the good old days where heels could actually get enough heat to get the faces damn near unanimous support from the crowd.

Was never big on any of Team Extreme, so every chair shot was getting cheered on by me.

Is it weird that I kind of want that era back?
Women get shot on dramas all the time. Can't someone eat a finisher?

I miss the good old days where heels could actually get enough heat to get the faces damn near unanimous support from the crowd. It's the milquetoast world of entitled offended we live in today. The reaction watching should be abject disgust in the heels. But in real life, people shouldn't be so retarded they think its real, and the company and performers should have to ham-fistedly apologize. But I realized the level of ridiculousness this world had come to the moment people expected --and got--Tiger Woods apologizing for having an affair on his wife. Like he owed anyone anything.

Is it weird that I kind of want that era back? Women get shot on dramas all the time. Can't someone eat a finisher? Heels giving babyface women finishers? Yes. Babyfaces giving heel (or face) women finishers? No thanks. Bubba Ray was a huge babyface in 2000 because he wanted to throw a seven-stone woman through a table from the top rope, and got huge face pops for this, and also for throwing an 80 year old woman through a table off the stage. That ain't right.

There were two instances of man-on-woman violence in the WWE that genuinely disturbed me as a fan. The first was the aforementioned HHH/Austin attack on Lita with the chair. The other one was when they brought in those two random women to engage in some HLA (which they more than willingly did) and then have them annihilated by 3MW immediately after (I believe one legitimately ended up with broken ribs). That one, in particular, amazes me that they didn't lose all of their sponsors.
