I do like Miz, but the big problem with him is- he's the only guy on the roster, in a big role, who I could undeniably say "his story has ended" for:
The defining story for Miz really boiled down to "No one wants me to be a WWE superstar? No one believes in me? I'll show you. I'll show you ALL!"
He comes to Tough Enough through the Real World, people mock it. He loses in a popular vote. Then, he latches on as host of Smackdown to get a chance to continue. Tries to wrestle, but no one buys it. Goes to ECW, starts to rise the ranks, people still don't believe in him. He forms a great tag team- everyone gives all the credit to John Morrison and none of the credit to him. He feuds with Cena, no one believes he has a chance. Wins the US Title, people think "okay, you peaked- this is it." Holds two titles at once, people still don't believe in him...and when he becomes Daniel Bryan's NXT rookie (and, btw- when you consider this story in full as the reason The Miz was actually an INSPIRED choice...I'm just saying...) people mock him harder. He wins MITB, people say "he'll be the first to fail". He wins the WWE Title, people still don't believe he has a chance, and he keeps going. Then, Mania 27 happens- he goes up against John Cena, at WM, in the main event, with The Rock there- people STILL think "that's it, he's losing now"- and he STILL won the match and walked out with the title...and right there, that was it. No one believed in The Miz, so he fought hard, he clawed his way to the top, to walk out of Wrestlemania 27 as the WWE Champion...and because of that, that was the end of his story. There's nowhere to go but down, because there's no reason "not" to believe in The Miz anymore. He's already done it all before, so you can't totally discount that he could do it again. The only thing left for that would be if WWE tried running with "The Miz goes after The Streak"- and even if WWE's been prepping for it well, you'd probably see a riot if The Miz became The One (literally- the WM host city would probably burn if The Miz beat Undertaker at Wrestlemania.)

No. He's terrible.
My life would probably be a lot better without knowing he existed.

Well, I guess they will just have to hire a writer to write a new story for him then If only they just kept writers on staff... I totally agree with the OP, Miz has been around a long time now but has never gotten stale. He was about to get stale and then they had Orton destroy him which was interesting, and now he's interesting again with whatever the Kofi thing is. With a decent story and feud (like the one he had with MVP, or when he was tagging with Jericho and Big Show), he will rise to the level of the attention he gets.

And that's how Miz's personality is. He's always had this goofy, awkward-but-he-knows-it look to him and to me it makes him kind of endearing. It's one of the reasons I'd rather see him as a dorky cheeseball face instead of some heel who tries to be menacing (Awesome Truth was the only time LOLBADASS Miz ever worked). I liked the dorky cheeseball heel Miz, circa 2008. I'll take headbangin' fedora/shorts wearing Miz over Miz TV Miz anyday. He's not good as the menacing heel, crowds didn't really take to him as a face, so I think the douchey heel bit is the best spot for him. Preferably in a tag team, he's good at playing off of someone else and the tag division is the place to be these days. This, make him douchey fratboy Miz. Honestly, I don't even mind if he ends up being Jericho level where he's upper midcard and floats between fighting for the main title and midcard titles. Biggest problem with his main even run was that they tried to push him as a threat when he should have been a chicken shit heel.

It'd be more beneficial to 'E if they were to treat with some semblance of respect. To let a former WM main-eventer slip into midcard obscurity really does no favours to the luster of headlining the big show. But keeping someone who should have never main evented in the first place in the upper card, just to keep up the mystique of WrestleMania, isn't a good idea either. 'Semblance of respect' is not the same thing as 'upper-card'; all it means is commentary ascribe some prestige to him whenever he's around, and it ain't even about Miz. If they're intent on keeping him down the card, it'll benefit all those he's putting over to referencing the fact he's a former main-eventer. The endless feud with Cesaro could've been about Antonio hanging with a guy who kept the WWE title in the main-event of WWE's biggest show, instead, it was just an aimless midcard washout.

Miz's main event run exposed the fact that the dude just isn't a main event caliber talent, even by WWE's sometimes dubious standards. Look at WreslteMania 27. He gets all this momentum, including a (no pun intended) truly awesome hype video, and THAT's the match he puts out? That match basically sealed it for me that Miz does not have what it takes to be a top guy. He's a decent midcard heel, but he shouldn't be anywhere near the top unless WWE's entire upper card spontaneously combusts all at once.

They didn't do that with Cesaro, but they DID do that with the short IC Title feud with Kofi last year. Like the whole story behind that feud was "Can Kofi the Career Midcarder hang with Miz the Main Eventer?" And it worked. As much as some of us hate Kofi's endless midcard title wins, that one program with Miz was probably the one time any of his title wins meant anything.

I would like Miz to go back to his 2008 persona, loudmouth, arrogant, chick magnet type guy and keep him like a Jericho type wrestler upper-midcard and occasional WWE or World title match or reign.

I maintain that Miz would have made a better corporate champion than Orton
Miz is made for the role of the smug, obnoxious, corporate puppet.

I can't attribute Miz's main event run to just him not being "ready, brother" when the booking was so lame. I still like the idea of him being WWE Champion and would love to see him win it again one of these days.

If he was corporate champion, they could have done a follow up segment with Demon Girl, but this time, she smiles and hugs him, because she's sold out to the corporation too!

I'd hardly consider a WWE Title reign that consisted of him feuding with a 60+ year old man for the belt and becoming the 3rd wheel in his own Wrestlemania main event a fair indicator of how good he'd be if he were booked with more credible wins. He carried himself fine when he was allowed to have matches that weren't mired in that mess.

Yeah, his title reign was sabotaged. WWE undermining a guy yet again.

He would be a PERFECT corporate champion, would certainly be better than Orton anyways. Said it before and I'll say it again,it should've been Miz from the beginning. He even has the history with Bryan.
There is still chance that they have him join The Authority, but he probably won't be included in anything big at least until after Mania.

The Miz was a victim of terrible booking. They had his major feud be against Jerry Lawler for goodness sake.
I like the guy a lot, but I am indifferent to the way they book him these days.
When the Miz shut CM Punk up with that yo momma joke, I thought it was a sign of something fresh, but the guy is floundering right now.
Its a weird goings on in the double double e.
