I've spent some time reading about Bruce Probanz who I found in the imposters article someone posted.
Definitely worth a Google search. He claims to of been NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Claims to of won many local titles and claims to of cracked his skull "20-30 times"
Claims to be an Actor also. His professional acting credit consists of a role as an Extra in 2002.

Austrailia has a tatted-up El Generico rip off. So, so very odd.

Crashed the Cauliflower Ear Club gather several years back. You'll find a lot of these guys, the ones that claim to have been wrestlers, but never were, or at least never at the level they claim. Hell, I was just reading an article this morning about famed football player Tom Dempsey, whose field goal record was JUST passed after some 40 years, claiming to have done some wrestling in the 70s, with Meltzer and Irv Mushnick tentatively debunking it.

Holy shit, two friends of mine. Granted, they were rip offs, but Justin especially is really good at what he does. To be fair, my gimmick was a mix of Hunter Hearst Helmsley and William Regal, so I can't talk much about rip offs.

I gotta say, Justin Blackwell looks like he'd be able to get over well as Jerry's son.

.....I actually didn't know they had wrestling in Austria. Actually, it has quite a history. Former AWA champion Otto Wanz founded one of Europe's larger promotions CWA and used to hold open air events in Vienna.

The NJ area has a lot of examples. They have the ripoff Doinks, but also at one point had a ripoff Golga to team with Giant Silva. Mind you, this was long after John Tenta passed away. And they sold it like he was the original. They also had a fake Mortis, but admitted that it was a "tribute" gimmick. The team formerly known as the Nigerian Nightmares are apparently now being called the sons of Kamala. Don't think either is the son we saw in videos like this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=3wZYvpexGNg Not the same thing, per se, but pushing guys like the Zombie and the Equalizer as ECW Originals. And then there's the whole Patriot/Tom Brandi issue.

Numerous Warrior rip-offs, including Luminous Warrior (later just Luminous) and that guy going around as One Warrior Nation Wasn't that the guy in the CWA, one of the Texas companies that tried to run the Sportatorium after WCCW? I remember a recap on RSPW saying that they got around copyright by calling him the "Ultimate Warrrior" (look carefully!)

I once saw an indie show in my hometown advertised as just having The Undertaker on the card. I was baffled. I've no idea how they managed the copyright on that. He was also wearing like 1996 Undertaker gear too.

Jeff Hardy ripoffs. Long hair, cargo pants, arm sleeves, high-flying. Every indy has one. Case closed.

I also used to work for a fed that had a jobber character whose gimmick was that he ripped off other gimmicks (kind of like Stevie Richards when he was first in the WWF). He would occasionally come out with established gimmicks like Flair and Undertaker (complete with him walking on paint cans tied to his shoes for added height), but mostly came out as other local guys. It was pretty hilarious and one of the only times I would approve of that sort of ripoff-ery, since it was intended as comedy.

There is a guy that will show up to autograph signings and Indy shows with his own table and claim to be Virgil. But, nobody ever goes to talk to him or get a picture. So nobody is buying into this Virgil imposter.....
Wait, I'm being told that it is actually Virgil!
