People were still calling Hunico Cara a botcher until news got out a new guy was under the mask. Are you sure? IIRC, there was no period between Hunico's debut and people learning it was a new guy. Mistico got suspended for a Wellness violation, then Hunico showed up doing the gimmick on a Mexico tour before the 30 days were up, leading to lots of speculation. By the time he showed up on TV doing the gimmick, I recall most everyone on here already knowing it was a new guy under the mask. People really couldn't tell the difference. A number of Smackdown spoilers had the wrong guy under the mask. The number of Sin Cara botches were always mentioned even if it wasn't really one.

I thought it was Sin Cara under the mask only cuz they had the hispanic ref who seems to always work with Sin Cara.

I'm kinda in two places on this one. On the one hand Hunico is getting airtime which is awesome 'cause I love the guy. On the other hand I actually liked his bike-riding cholo gimmick. Like there wasn't a lot to it, but I got a kick out of it. His mannerisms and stuff were spot on. Either way I'm happy for the guy, but I think he's good enough to have his own character and get it over if they'd give him a proper shot at it.

Hopefully it's a permanent change. The Sin Cara character still has potential, but the performer's complete dead weight while as it is Hunico's going nowhere.

I said two weeks ago in the NXT thread that I thought WWE should seriously consider making Hunico play Sin Cara from here on out. Maybe they agree?

I'd be happy, too. If he gets Mistico's revenue cut for merch, he's about to make thousands upon thousands of dollars more than he was riding a tricycle to the ring or whatever the hell his gimmick was before.

Hunico is great as Sin Cara. I hope it's a permanent chance, Sin Cara's matches were so much better when he was under the mask before. I just hope they end that stupid orange lighting shit.

If they're trying to eventually replace Mysterio for a younger masked star Hunico as Cara really isn't it being that Hunico is 36.

I do feel bad for the original Sin Cara. He was THE absolute top Mexican luchador in the world a few years back (and I'm certain he won something for top wrestling draw of the decade not just for Mexico, but the world), but this WWE run just completely went to shit for him right from the jump... literally. And now he apparently has nothing to go back to, with both his gimmicks usurped and a bad knee for his troubles. Seriously what happened to him? Is the language barrier that tough to get over? The ring different? I haven't seen a lot of him in his prime but he hadn't done anything near as cool as what little of what I've seen him do in Mexico. English is one of the toughest languages to learn so the language barrier is a pretty big deal, but the other things play a factor. Lucha Libre is pretty different from wrestling anywhere else in the world. They work the opposite side of the body (I think Jericho said they work the left side while everybody else works the right) and are based on high acrobatic moves. When he came in right to the main roster it was a huge mistake as not only were there not many people who could wrestle his style, but not many in the WWE speak Spanish. ADR was a pretty damn big star down in Mexico and he went to FCW for a little bit to get used to the WWE. And while he may not have options in Mexico, he did do stuff in Japan so I think there could be money for New Japan giving him a new gimmick and either having him feud with Devitt (great move) or even having him join the Bullet Club. They got this guy down in Florida whose pretty damn good and can speak English.

I'm genuinely bummed out about this. I have always felt Cara's been hard done by ever since he started. Just have him get rid of some ring rust, why was that such a hard thing to do?

Hunico was always the better Sin Cara. That latino street thug gimmick wasn't going anywhere, with or without Camacho, so I'm glad he can finally get something better. He can speak English and isn't the botch machine Mistico was.
I'm all for the change, hope they stick to Hunico as Sin Cara.

I think that Sin Cara's contract runs out in January. The gimmick is over may as well use it. Though I would like there to be a revolving cast of Sin Cara's, one week it's the Big Show, one week it's Torito, one week it's D-Young, one week it's Vince and they never acknowledge that it's a different guy. They did this with the Blue Blazer gimmick a bit before Owen died. Most people hated it.

Sin Cara is proof positive of having a wrestler needing to train in developmenal before being tossed to the main roster. Dude had no safety net and learning curve. People waited with baited breath to see him make a botch instead of watching him wrestle. And you think the attitude towards Sin Cara is going to change because Hunico might be getting the role? Folks are still calling him a botch machine and the crowd could care less about him. Contrary to popular belief, the mask and gimmick isn't over enough that anyone call play it and no one would notice the switch up. This is the modern day Max Moon. A popular luchador in Mexico losing a role created specifically for them and WWE acting like it's always been the same guy.

I'm not overly thrilled about this. Sin Cara's goofiness is the only thing that makes me care about him. Get rid of that and...what's left? Hunico may botch less, but he can't point like Sin Cara can. I'd only accept a substitute if he could point as well as Cara. ...Saaaaaaaaayyyyyyy....ARE YOU THINKING WHAT I'M THINKING? {Spoiler} HE'S READY FOR THE SIN-CARA CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS BROTHER!

I'm amazed at anyone saying this is bad for Hunico. His all-too-brief run as Evil Sin Cara was the best stuff of his career, then they destroyed him with that awful bicycle-riding, Samoan-befriending cholo gimmick. I agree 100%. he was a better Sin Cara than Mistico was in the first place, and his generic cholo jobber gimmick was going nowhere. he's a good worker and the Sin Cara gimmick is perfectly viable. why not use it? IMO the WWE needs more guys in masks anyway, it's always a cool look. for that matter, if you're not going to use Ricardo as Del Rio's manager, bring him back as a masked lucha too. guy's too talented to not get used regularly.
