I didn't mind him that much and didn't expect him to become a huge superstar like the company hoped he would. Hunico in his gear looks weird to me and I never really liked his version. To me the gimmick is dead now and I don't see the point in them trying to continue it with another guy. I mean if they feel the gimmick has been such a flop why are they bothering?

The problem with the original is he never went to learn the WWE style. The signed and put him on the main roster. When he not even used too the American style. He was set up to fail. He is a case of someone who should went to NXT or FCW at the time. Just to learn the style first.

He wasn't bad, it's just that almost nothing went right for the guy, my theory is that CMLL hired Papa Shango to put a hex on him.

I don't think he was that bad. He was just unlucky with injuries. I don't get the Hunico replacement love I've read on here either. He seemed like a fatter, slower verison of Sin Cara like when Homer became Krusty.

The original was hilarious, that's for sure. I'm not a big fan of laughing at others pain (exept if they're extremely shitty people of course) but i busted out laughing when he broke his finger a few months ago latterly seconds in the match

Yep.
He did botch an awful lot. So much so I actually had a dream about him botching where he and Mysterio debuted a new entrance where they did synchronised forward rolls down to the ring. Rey did it perfectly whilst Cara veered off and crashed into the barricade.

No, of course he wasn't. The problem is, when someone has a high-flying style, it just becomes extremely awkward and anxiety-producing to watch them if you don't have strong faith that they can pull off what they're trying to do.
I still think Chavo sabotaged him in that one match, though that's neither here nor there, at this point.

He was fine, as long as he had an opponent that was used to his style. I think it's a bit unfair how people seemed to put all the blame on him, when his opponents could keep up.

I think he would have got a lot more goodwill had he not nearly Shockmastered his first run in on the post-WrestleMania 27 RAW. He touched the rope, yes, but he still did the entrance right... yet the way some carried on it was like he faceplanted on the floor. Things just never recovered from there.

Considering the amount of promo they gave him before his debut, the slew of merch for a debuting character, and all of that, I dont see how he can be anything but "that bad". What did he do for himself to match that? From all indications (newz/rumors) he never gave much of a shit, refuses to learn English, or do anything of that nature. As of this moment, Mistico is a complete failure in the WWE and they basically gave him every chance to get over from giving his matches a unique quality etc. Very few debuting talents get the amount of things Cara got coming in. Sure, he's had some really bad luck, but its hard to feel bad for him at this point.

That's got nothing to do with it. Rey Mysterio, in 1997 before all the injuries, could still have a great match with anyone. Kevin Nash had good matches with Rey. Do you think Nash was fluent in Lucha Libre? Sin Cara's problem was the fact that he didn't communicate well with his opponents and botched all the time. On top of that, there's the dislocated finger incident from a few months back. In a job where guys have finished matches with torn quads, torn abdomens, broken arms, broken necks, etc., calling off your match due to a dislocated finger makes you look like you can't cut it.

He's no Shockmaster/Glacier levels of failure but I'm notgoing to pretend he was really anything special either. The memes and jokes make him sound like it was an epic failure, but it was really more of a moderate flop than a Titanic Bomb.

Stopping a match because he hurt his finger was utterly pathetic.

I still think Chavo sabotaged him in that one match, though that's neither here nor there, at this point. I could honestly see him doing that. and I liked Sin Cara he just had a lot of bad luck, the fact he couldn't speak English also didn't help much.

He was not bad at all-what WWE did with him was bad. They overhyped him, expecting some new ultra star and then they under-utilized him. He could easily have been a very solid mid-carder, possible IC/US champion. Although to be honest, botching his debut didn't help him any.

If your style of wrestling only works with a select few wrestlers, is it really a good style? That's not really the point. The WWE were the ones that brought him in, based on the fact that they wanted that style. They are the ones at fault for him only being able to work with select wrestlers by insisting that he skip developmental to quickly try and cash in on such a big signing.

Yeah, I thought he was as bad as he was made out to be here. Even when he wasn't totally messing up, there were a lot of awkward moments and miscommunication in his matches. For whatever reason, when Sin Cara was in the ring, botches happened. He was okay once he started teaming with Mysterio, but by that point he had slowed down and toned down his style so much that it was boring, Rey was working circles around him with his bum knees.
