Somehow this all feels like another screwjob ending at TLC, especially with how on Raw they had Stephanie making it sound important that Triple H was both a World and WWE champ, and this week on the weekly interview with Cole, Triple H says that the king of kings will crown the champion of champions.
Considering the last few months have been nothing but one screwover after another, this seems likely. I want to believe that will lead to Bryan winning the rumble and facing Trips at Mania, but I don't see that happening.

Although I wouldn't mind that at all it won't happen.

Considering they've been playing Orton falling out of favor with the administration, and they're definitely not turning Cena, especially right after releasing the clothing line, it seems the most likely route.

In the "booking that makes sense" category, I'd say yes. Schmozz ending at TLC, rumble for the title HHH is surprise 30th entrant and wins. Culminates in Bryan vs. HHH at Mania with Bryan getting his career-defining moment, beating HHH for the one and only WWE Championship at WrestleMania 30. Its too perfect, therefore it won't happen.

My fantasy booking in my head had Sheamus returning and aligning himself with HHH and Authority by attacking Cena after he's won.

I could see that happening in some form. Then CM Punk wins it from Triple H at Wrestlemania.

Week when HHH takes over as VP of creative, he makes himself champ. That'll go down well.
I'd be fine with a screwy finish if the title was up for grabs at the Rumble. I won'tbe mad if we don't get a definitive champ at a piss-poor, nothing, end-of-year PPV. But in terms of screwy finishes at PPVs it'll be a few in a row, which won't be good.

HHH's trolling is always hilarious and I've mentally checked out of the main event scene as is, so may as well.
I can actually see it happening with Cena being the guy that upends HHH in the main event of WMXXX.

This is overtly cynical bullcrap. HHH would have to officially place himself before the match. This isn't happening, and is just as laughable as believing Nash texting himself would lead to anything good.

I think even Triple H realizes that the last thing they need right now is another screwjob finish in the main events. Eventually that's going to really affect their pay per view business even more than it already has. And until they're confident in the future of their upcoming network and getting the rights fees upgrade they're hoping for from USA and Syfy for Raw and Smackdown I wouldn't press my luck by doing another one.

I mean it's not we've ever (I swear to God) seen Cena as the mix-reaction-getting babyface against Triple H at Mania.

HHH wins.
Sets up a Royal Rumble where Cena, Orton, Punk, Bryan, and (regrettably) Big Show all could win (and all would want to get their hands on HHH). Add in a wildcard return like Sheamus and maybe a Jericho or RVD following HHH's comments, and you could have one of the best Rumbles in recent memory.
In a lot of ways, as much as this is a almost stereotypical HHH move, it may actually be what is best for business.

It sounds totally awful. However, since I've also mentally checked out of the show for months I'd say this is an idea that wins at all of the money.
Not only should Hunner win the Unified Title, but he should get his own custom made belt with all his nicknames etched in platinum.
When someone beats Hunner to win the belt When Hunner decides to graciously step down for a champion of his choosing and hand the belt to a successor, one of the stipulations for holding the title is that the design can never be changed.
Nor the nameplates.
And he has to get his own WWE Desire video again.
...and the audience has to give him a 15 minute standing ovation during the ceremonies.
...and everyone is required to buy an updated copy of Hunner's DVD which now includes an app that changes all your ringtones to Hunner's theme.
