No, not really. The fact that there isn't a clear leader is the reason why it hasn't turned into X superstar and his lackeys, like what happens with most failed stables. Exactly. Ambrose doesn't lead them, nor do they follow him around and only react when he tells them to. They're a cohesive unit. Ambrose just happens to be the official "representative" and general personality of The Shield, which is why he's usually front and center when it comes to their promos and backstage "messages". Reigns brings the power and intimidation/fear, and Rollins is the most skilled in the ring. Wasn't this the exact same role Barrett played with the Corre?

Do I remember this...? ...and it must be said, I didn't think he was the leader when he did this promo either.

But by that time, Barrett was already well known for being the leader of the Nexus, and seeing as how the Corre was basically leftovers from the Nexus (and Ezekiel Jackson), they weren't really fooling anybody with the whole "no one's the leader, we're all equal" thing.

Plus with the Shield, it helps that each member brings something unique to the team. Where as with the Corre, it was obvious that Barrett was the standout of the group.

Remember when Dean Ambrose was naked in a promo? I'm being serious. ....no, but tell us more. Oh hey by the way, remember when the Shield actually had some kind of interesting reason to be doing what they do, and then they dropped that and implied they were mercenaries, and then they dropped that and just made them normal wrestlers whose only notable feature is that they don't seem to mind being disqualified?

Ambrose = Meh? I'd say Rollins is more Meh than Ambrose, yeah he's got a cool moveset and he's nothing but awesome in the ring but he's by far the most bland member of The Shield, Ambrose is a great psychopath and I love Reigns as the smug big man, Rollins is just there. Rollins is the bump machine, Ambrose the promo guy and Reigns the physical presence. Together they are Cena.

-- Still waiting for Ambrose to get more violent. -- I think they are still mercenaries otherwise the entrance does not make sense. -- THe Mick Foley angle was going to have Foley return as Mandkind. They were going to have a fake Dude Love distract Ambrose and then Mankind would come out from under the ring. It was ended when Foley's doctor told them he couldn't wrestle anymore.

Remember when people thought he and D-Bry would form some sort of ROH stable with Rollins? I remember this being the moment I realised that to people that don't follow/don't like the indies, any time someone with any hype is signed they assume they are ROH alumni.

Remember when half this board was throwing a fit over what a horrible person Mick Foley is for not hauling his limping, 46-year-old ass out to put over Dean Ambrose? You mean the last time when every poster on this board (sans me) was successfully worked for what was later revealed by Foley to be an elaborate internet-only buzz-building angle?

To be fair even the WWE made that mistake when they were hyping the indies on their website

Do you remember the time I knew a girl from Mars? I don't know if you knew that. You don't get nearly enough Ash quotes on the net these days.

Ambrose is great and his run has been great you jive turkeys. His match with CM Punk on Smackdown was top notch. Granted, it was with Punk, but a lot of how good it was came down to Ambrose kicking ass. I think he's been really good since debuting, and lately he's really nailing down how to be the most effective in the WWE style.

No, no one is allowed to enjoy any member of the shield. Whoever you like, the other two are way better and you're an idiot.
PERIOD! =P

Just imagine any time someone mentions nuclear heat it's referring to said superstar being in the doghouse for playing the NUclear Sounds record too loudly on the tour bus of CM Punk.
