WWE should sign him on a limited schedule.
Punk/Styles, Bryan/Styles, Cena/Styles, even Orton/Styles would draw.
They would be a nice addition to the AJ Styles DVD set that WWE could put together when they inevitably buy TNA's video library

I kind of have a perverse feeling of wanting to see somebody defend this. You'd think that nobody could possibly defend TNA letting AJ Styles go, but they're out there. Considering what's been going on over in the spoiler thread, I'm not sure there's anyone left to defend it.

In an ideal world i want him to return to PWG for a few shows, then go to NJPW for a short term 4 to 6 month contract, then finally end up in WWE (skipping NXT and keeping his name) for dream matches like Styles/Cena and having rematches with Bryan/Punk/Cesaro etc. I know that is all a pipe dream though. It's a damn shame TNA didn't appreciate him enough.

This is what happens when you settle with an unreliable business. If he didn't see this coming from miles away, he's an idiot. Because AJ Styles of ALL people should have seen the writing on the wall and that this was inevitable. Oh well.

Man, this just isn't right. It doesn't feel right, it doesn't sound right.
AJ Styles not a part of TNA.
This company is f***ed.

This is probably the biggest loss TNA has personally suffered. Sure, Hogan is a much bigger name than Styles is, but he's the guy who has basically broke his back trying to carry the company on his back since the inception. It's a really sad time to see him go but I'm choosing to look at the positives here; there's still a ton of great matches waiting for him on the independent scene right now that i'd love to see:
- Christian Rose (happening) - Rich Swann - Chuck Taylor - AR Fox - Biff Busick - Johnny Gargano - Shane Hollister - Adam Cole - Matt Tavern - Michael Elgin
There's so many names i'd love to see, hell, even a guy like Masada would be a great match in my opinion. Styles would be a big name on the indies & could likely get a pretty good payday from working indie dates. TNA treated him like shit & they're getting what they deserve by losing him.

I just don't see WWE getting him and using him. He's like 2cm taller than Tyson Kidd for example.
If they're not going to utilize Tyson Kidd, they won't utilize AJ Styles.

If he goes to WWE he could be the new Evan Bourne, except better have Paul Heyman possibly manage him to do the promo work like he does with Brock because both are subpar on the mic

The only way I see him panning out in the WWE is if Heyman is his mouth piece and they feature him like the WWF featured RVD in that brief ECW invasion angle (market AJ as being different and showcase his unique high spots). Other than that, he is small, southern, and has mediocre mic ability. I can't see WWE doing anything with him. Plus, I shudder to think what name they would saddle him with.
This is TNA's own fault. If they didn't realize going on the road would be as costly as it was, then it shows a complete lack of planning or foresight. Now it is costing them talent.

If this is legit, then it's incredibly messed up.
It's made all the more glaring because they've spent the last few weeks hyping AJ up so much, despite him not being on the show, to the point that their crowds (Orlando or otherwise) chant his name with regularity.
If there had been such a huge risk of him leaving, then they either wouldn't have done that, or they're being stupid (equally likely).

So, anybody who said that TNA isn't struggling can just stop talking and eat crow. They just lost the guy that personified their company. At this point, the on-screen doesn't even matter. This has to be a huge morale killer for the locker room. Eating crow. Real man can admit when he's wrong.

Unbelievable, they let their top star the guy who is most recognizable with the company go yet they keep guys like Mr. Anderson.

Just a thought: am I the only one who feel's TNA should have been giving AJ the full John Cena treatment years ago? I'm not talking "overcoming the odds" or even being champion, but getting pushed as the face of the company-being the center of their promotional efforts, doing the most public appearances, being consistently at the top of the card even without a belt. He has been with them longer than anyone else, so if there is any one star in TNA who should have been given such treatment it is him. TNA really should have start pushing home grown starts like AJ, Daniels, Joe, Roode over established stars like Jarrett, Angle, and Sting rather than bringing Hogan as some sort of "quick fix," especially when there was really nothing wrong with them at the time.

I haven't been watching, but considering the stuff I have watched that got defended...things must really be bad.

Now imagine if the lose Angle, Hardy, and Sting. Well, if they do, y'all can rest easy again because AJ Styles will be back in TNA. They will definitely have the money to afford him then.
