They still have the actual Sin Cara though, my point is that it seems weird to put Hunico under the mask again when they still have the real one. Sure he gets injured a lot & hasn't had the best of luck, but the original Sin Cara has a certain aura around him that Hunico doesn't in the role. He just seems boring & uneventful. I heard Mistico/Sin Cara's WWE contract is up soon (like maybe in January). And they've decided not to resign him. They really should resign him, he's a popular gimmick & a really talented guy, he was just never really given the chance to learn the WWE style before being thrown right out there on live TV. They should resign him & give him time in development to let him learn the right way; learn the proper style that WWE wants & tone himself down a little. I thought he was doing really good work when teaming with Rey Mysterio. I'd love for them to bring that team back again as it benefited both men.

In front or behind, I'll just keep my distance all together. I'm not trying to get injured.

I just think he's boring. Mistico was boring as Sin Cara and so is Hunico. I've never been bored by a high flyer. This character though, something is off.

All this talk about merchandise and I can only recall a handful of masks and shirts during his run. There was a recent news story that WWE sold tons of Hunico merch during their recent tour of Europe. And it opened their eyes to his popularity, and made WWE want to seriously get behind the character again (but with a different guy under the mask).

I hope they stop using the mood lighting. Just put holes for eyes on the mask and move away from blue & yellow lights.
Then I'll be able to care about him.

At first I thought this thread was "I just can't get behind Hurricanrana".

Has he wrestled as Hunico on any card since donning the Sin Cara mask?

Has he wrestled as Hunico on any card since donning the Sin Cara mask? He wrestled as himself against Xavier Woods at a couple of recent live shows; I think that was actually just a few days ago, if I recall correctly. Him and Camacho also have a match on NXT this week, I think. I'm not sure either of these things are really what you meant, but still!

Meh, I prefer Hunico as Sin Cara over blatantly racist Mexican stereotype wrestler #47. Better than the original too. I get where you coming from. It's just a shitty choice if you think about it. Racist gimmick vs. bland masked wrestler? Not good.

For those of you who need a Kayfabe reason: Just view Sin Cara & Sin Cara as modern day Mr Wrestling I & Mr Wrestling II. Naw, this is more like Max Moon and Doink the Clown. Mr Wrestling 1 and 2 may shared the same type of mask and finisher but they were their own person and there was a changing of the guard done instead of playing it off that it was the same guy. WWE feels they can plug someone else in the role and no one would notice. His match with Del Rio was brutal. The crowd gave no f***s about either guy. Sin Sin Cara was disappointing in ring wise. It would had been better if WWE whipped up a new mask and persona for Hunico. Instead he inherited a cursed gimmick and already feeling the wrath.

I wonder if he'll continue to play both characters.

Everybody stop crying about Hunico as Sin Cara. Sin Cara #1 was a complete failure. Hunico obviously wants to be Sin Cara #2 instead of another Los Boricua jobber. He's going to make a lot more money now. Plus, he just beat Del Rio clean two weeks in a row. Be happy for the guy, for crying out loud.

Hunico's lameassed cholo gimmick was going nowhere at least he has a shot if they push him as Sin Cara.

Can't say the original was a complete failure if WWE feels the need to continue the character because he moved merch in Europe. Yeah, he beat Del Rio 2 weeks in a row but he isn't getting any reactions WWE expects him to get and his wrestling is suffering. I guarantee in 2 months, people are going to calling for Hunico's head and calling him a botcher like the original.

At least with Hunico's cholo gimmick, he got to be "himself". As Sin Cara, he won't get the recognition he deserves for his performances.

I guarantee in 2 months, people are going to calling for Hunico's head and calling him a botcher like the original. I'm not saying the current incarnation of Sin Cara is perfect. But in just two matches, he's done well to ground Sin Cara and get him away from being the same predictable spot/botchfest he was as #1. They've done well to put him over on commentary as new and improved. I think the next step is getting him to finally speak english and cut promos. Otherwise, you're right, fans probably won't regain interest in the character. But for people to complain that Hunico won't be "himself" anymore as his cholo gimmick is silly. The character wasn't over and now the wrestler has been recast to his own benefit. I just can't see any negatives in that.
