It's no Rhodes / Shield / Usos / Real Americans TLC match (seriously, they had to deliberately avoid doing that it was so damn obvious and such easy booking from the Survivor Series match), but screw it, at least it's not just Rhodes / Ryback and Axel.
Then again, it also seems to not be a gimmick match at all. Because I guess heaven forbid anything overshadow Orton / Cena.

Big Show and Mysterio? That's random, but ok.
Though at least make it a ladder match.

Big Show/Mysterio in a way reminds me of the Big Show/Spike Dudley tag team from late 2001.

So the tag team resurgence ends with Rey Mysterio. ...does this feel familiar to anyone else?

WWE Creative Guy #1: Okay, we're gonna have a Fatal Fourway for the Tag Titles at TLC. We got The Rhodes Brothers and The Real Americans. We just need to fill the other two spots. The Shield seems obvious. But, should we go with The Prime Time Players or The Usos for the 4th spot?
WWE Creative Guy #2: Oh, I just told them to put Ryback, Curtis Axel, Big Show, and Rey Mysterio in there.
WWE Creative Guy #1: Why? We have established teams.
WWE Creative Guy #2: Well, I got my paycheck and wanted to go home. So, I just pick 4 random guys who popped into my head.
WWE Creative Guy #1: But, we should get them to change that.
WWE Creative Guy #2: Naw, f*** it. I'm gonna go get drunk.
WWE Creative Guy #1: Wait a minute...
*The other creative guy rushes out of there.*
WWE Creative Guy #1: I hate this place.

You rarely ever book something with the intent taking shine away from the main event. There is no reason the whole card can't be good - I'd say a whole card of potentially great matches with tons of plunder is going to sell better than just the main event having it. Particularly when the general reaction from crowds for one of the two guys involved is routinely shitting on him, as well as the ratings and buyrates during the past few months when he has been on top having bottomed out. Plus, if they had this, "The midcard should never be more memorable than what goes on last!" attitude had existed in years past, you'd probably have never seen Edge, Jeff Hardy, and Christian become big stars since they'd have just had the finals of the TIT be a normal tag match to keep from overshadowing... what even main-evented that show, Triple H / Austin?

You rarely ever book something with the intent taking shine away from the main event. Having a main event that no one asked for, and then making the rest of the card weak so that it looks good by comparison is considered good booking? If that's the WWE's way of thinking, then they deserve the low buyrates and bad reviews that they've been getting with the latest PPVs.

It should be a ladder match hopefully. Big Show and Rey seems random but but Big Show in ladder matches is always a fun dynamic. In a perfect world we'd have Ambrose and Rollins in there instead of Rybaxel and Punk just facing Reigns, but oh well.

Mysterio and Big Show?
I guess they need something to do. That's the problem with WWE right there. Too many "big names" that can't be ignored at a PPV. You have to put them in random matches in order for people to not ask why WWE isn't doing anything with them. Big Show who was screwed out of a title match at the last PPV is now going for the tag titles...just cuz. Oh and there was never any resolution to the screwy finish before, I guess he's okay with it.
