I just finished reading the WWE performance center article on WWE.com, and I like how they mentioned Sara Del Rey, ROH, and CHIKARA. Considering WWE have rarely acknowledged other wrestling companies since WCW folded, it's a nice surprise.
What other occasions has WWE acknowledged other companies?

They've done a few lists that featured Samoa Joe and AJ Styles.

During the Punk/Bryan feud the front of WWE.com was them wrestling in ROH with an article about their history in the indies and in articles about the Shield they've mentioned Rollins and Ambrose's indie careers (though incorrectly saying Ambrose was an ROH product). At the same time they posted TNA results and spoilers on their site, they also had news on ROH, Chikara and a few other companies and during their short lived WWE Universe message boards, they had ones dedicated to ROH, Chikara and other.

Everytime CM Punk shooting. Everytime CM Punk and DB feud or tag team. CM Punks DVD had ROH footage and other Indy footage and the interview was conducted in a ROH ring.

Hell I remember during some DB article they went a whole paragraph about ROH and all the wrestlers in developmental and main roster that wrestled there. They did include Ambrose on the list then took him down is that the one you're referring too?

The entire basis of Daniel Bryan's character is his indy background. When he was on NXT with The Miz, a huge selling point was that he was wrestling longer than his NXT Pro.

Smoky Mountain, NWA, ECW... All while they were still active. Also, all three federations had matches on WWF programming.

When you think about it, why shouldn't they? Promotions like ROH and Chikara are never going to rise up to anywhere near what WWE is no matter how you look at it. They're not really competition. They'd do well to let the 80s mentality of "nothing else exists" go and build up at least a *little* noteworthiness for the smaller promotions, if for no other reason than to make sure the workers they release or leave at least have something halfway decent to fall back on instead of working for $40 in front of 30 people.

WWE.com used to post TNA results on it's website. I remember once that there used to be a chat plugin for the Raw part of the website, and one day around 2008, someone posted that Bobby Lashley was going to TNA. Then WWE removed the chat.

If WWE wanted to look out for their workers and make sure they had something to fall back on, they'd let them use their WWE given personas outside of the company. IMO, the performers' marketability to those smaller promotions a more important factor to consider. Even the most bush league Indy fed would shell out a huge payday to a WWE alumni. If someone like Zack Ryder, JTG, Tyson Kidd or Alex Riley can't make headway in WWE, we should still get to watch then for a good chunk of change elsewhere instead of the performer being forced to take on a new name and persona that may likely not get as over.

Even from the most bush league Indy fed would shell out a huge payday to a WWE alumni. If say Zack Ryder couldn't make headway in WWE, we should still get to watch him fist pump faces for a good chunk of change elsewhere instead of the performer being forced to take on a new name and gimmick that may likely not get as over WWE is nowhere near as strict on that as a lot think. A lot of the guys released still use their WWE gimmicks just with a minor change (Trent Baretta becoming Trent?, Eugene becoming U-Gene, Trevor Murdoch becoming Trevor Murdock and so on) with some not even changing anything like Hurricane. Only time that doesn't apply is when they try TNA, ROH or something else that has a major TV deal like LLUSA's short term MTV2 run and that is completely understandable. The only time that doesn't seem to happen is when they have a name they perfered using over their WWE name like Derrick Bateman going back to Michael Hutter and Ohno going back to Chris Hero. Hell, when he gets canned Ryder, unless he goes to TNA, will probably be going around as Zach Rider, entering to Radio and doing all the stuff that he does in WWE.

Josh Mathews used to drop references to other companies when he commentated on VELOCITY years back.
