NEVER FORGET ... Actually, yes, forget. Please forget. His reign wasn't that bad until Show pissed on it! People forget that he was drawing heat pretty well, and beat Orton clean as a whistle.

Did anyone expect any different? Kind of. Although in no way as important or significant, WWE did discard 40 years of the Women's title for the Butterfly belt and its sad, sad history.

Yea if they didn't consistently job him out on free tv it could have worked well. Could have been a nice place holder until they set up their fall world title angle.

The WWE wasn't going to replace their entire company's history with a Participation Trophy's lineage.

Dude was booked like a chump from day 1. Well...yeah. But Orton beat up Mark after both of their PPV matches. As for his TV matches losing...yeah that was bad, but at least losing to Taker is expected. Plus, his match with Taker was pretty damn good.

It's seems like a no-brainer, but they did choose to go with the newer Tag Team Championship lineage when they unified the tag belts. This means Cody and Goldust's titles trace back to Angle and Benoit rather than through teams like Hart Foundation, Demolition, LOD, and the Steiners.
Also, when they unified the women's championships they went with the newer lineage, which excludes Moolah, Sherri, Trish, and Lita.

The lack of Moolah makes me much happier, considering how fake her long run is and how terrible of a person she was.

I love that we live in a world where the LOD and Harts and Demos and Bulldogs belts are retired, but the indelible legacy of Deuce and Domino live on forever.

They show the WWE Championship under the picture of Orton in the Superstars section of WWE.com. They removed the WHC completely. Therefore, it looks like he will just carry one title (WWE Championship) from now on.

I love that we live in a world where the LOD and Harts and Demos and Bulldogs belts are retired, but the indelible legacy of Deuce and Domino live on forever. You would think they would want to cut ties with the title history that begins with the double murderer they won't mention in anything ever and a guy who works for what passes as their competition, which makes it even more illogical.

True, but you can't white wash all the work of pioneers like Richter (dor popularity), Sherri, Madusa, and later Trish, Lita and others. They should have just used the belt and name if they wanted their Diva brand name used, but kept the real history. At that point its legacy was basically Michelle McCool, Maryse and few others, and not a dime drawn between them.
