I've known about this stuff for years. R. Kelly is a deeply f***ed up man.

I thought one of the saddest parts was when it was pointed out that at least part of why he's managed to get away with this for so long was because his victims were all young black women who tend to be marginalized in society.

I thought evereyone knew about this when Dave Chappelle ripped him for allegedly pissing on an underaged chick.
He's still insanely popular for some reason, and I enjoy a lot of his work.

This is the sad reality we live in. Had even one of those girls been white, he would've been sent to prison. A really f***ed up situation.

Chris Brown got less flack for beating Rihanna until he bloodied her than Kanye West did for interrupting Taylor Swift receiving one of of like a dozen awards. Now, some of it may have been since one was televised and involved probably higher profile musicians, but there's the very easy conclusion to come to, that is very saddening, that one was just more important than the other to a wide variety of people.

Sad that this didn't get 1/3rd the attention that the allegations against MJ did.

There are three primary reasons as to why R. Kelly is viewed positively despite mounting evidence that he is anything but a reputable character.
1. The victims. It's been said before, but the fact that the alleged victims were underaged black girls made this almost a non-issue to the country. If the underaged girls were white, the crap would have hit the fan and this story would have exploded nationally.
2. Dave Chappelle. The skits on "Chappelle's Show" lampooning R. Kelly turned him into a goofy cartoon character instead of rightfully vilifying him. The constant skits and references to R. Kelly urinating on a girl was something meant to be taken as a joke and society, instead of reading the articles in the newspaper and watching the coverage on television, took all they needed to from those skits and turned the entire scandal into one great, big joke.
3. Trapped in the Closet. R. Kelly's first real big hit after these allegations surface are an outrageous series of videos in a multi-part comedy musical series.

I'll just cut and paste what I said in the "favorite actor thread":
That's why I can enjoy Trapped In The Closet and Kelly's verse on Do What U Want, despite never wanting to ever shake the guy's hand and feeling he should have been behind bars years ago.

The level of indifference to what he has done and boasts about openly, it'd be like if Jerry Lee Lewis covered Oingo Boingo's "I Love Little Girls", and took out any hint of mockery directed towards the subject of the song. The "I" here, not the little girls, mind.
It'd be like if Gary Glitter made a song called "Do you wanna be in my gang, with Jeffrey Jones and the dude who made Powder?"
If OJ writing a book about murders he likely committed, but in the hypothetical, was odious and had such outcry, what makes this any different, other than the victims?

The article makes a point of saying that all most people know is the Aaliyah deal and that video. Obviously he got flak for it, but probably not as much as he should have. Chapelle essentially turned it into a joke too, hence why no one has taken it seriously. But, really, the guy is a dangerous sexual predator.

The article pointed out that he hasn't had his day in court for the rape charges still. Al I can say is, if you want something done about this, share that article on any social media you're on, and get everyone you know to share it on their social media stuff too. And if someone knows how to contact KinghtSec, put them on the case.

Even if they wanted to press charges, the window to do it might be closed. As for arruh, his skeeviness dates back to the 80s when he was picking up girls in front of his old high school. He has a ton of songs that I love, but God damn.

I think the part that really hurts me the most, and the part that made me shift from disgust to outright hate towards him, to where I can't even listen to his music, is the fact that most of the allegations against him came after his publicized relationship with then-underaged Aaliyah. The same Aaliyah whose debut album he produced. The name of that debut album? Age Ain't Nothing But A Number. There isn't even any question he's guilty. He just isn't being punished for it. And it really feels like a lot of people just don't care.
