Why isn't this a joke thread? Is anyone seriously thinking this?

Is anyone seriously thinking this? That they are trying to make Cena and Bryan all buddy-like in hopes Cena can get some positive cheers off of him? Yeah, probably.

No, not that, in fact that's not a bad idea. I mean in regards to Bryan actually looking weak here, considering he's beaten both men clean as a sheet and is clearly their equal. Or at least that's the story they're selling, as far as Cole's concerned ("ORTON WAS GONNA LOSE TO BRYAN! HE DIDN'T WANT TO FACE HIM!").

Cena didn't screw Bryan. Bryan screwed Bryan.

It's a little much, but It's not as bad as Big Show. At least Cena acknowledges that Bryan deserves the spotlight.

Why isn't this a joke thread? Is anyone seriously thinking this? No, we're just working through our unrequited feelings of love for John Cena. However, Bryan has enough cause to want to kick Orton's ass that he shouldn't be in the background letting someone else standing up for him. That's what doesn't make any sense. For instance, last week Triple H and Stephanie had all the former champions out in the ring and there's Bryan, standing there like a big smiley dope while the guy who's screwed him over during the past couple of months yammers about nothing before the guy who he beat clean for the title yammers about nothing about the guy who was yammering about nothing. Why didn't Bryan just walk over to Orton and kick his ass? But nah, let's just have him stand around and smile. BUT LATER ON Bryan gets angry because the script calls for him to when Raw ended in a big schmozz. At this point, Bryan ceases to be a character or a gimmick and simply exists as a function of the narrative. This happens all the time. It shouldn't. You get these guys together it should be a clusterf***. Seeing faces, heels, rivals, champions JUST STANDING THERE is EVERYTHING wrong with WWE. Remember when there were good wrestlers? And bad wrestlers? And you felt like they didn't get along? When they would completely lose their shit if they caught sight of one another? Remember brawls? I miss pro wrestling. It's hard to disagree with any of these points. I don't feel like anyone's really angry with the other person and wants to best that person physically, mentally, and emotionally by pinning their shoulders to the mat for a three count in order to achieve a symbolic victory. If they HAVE to do Cena and Bryan as best buds, they could at least play up some tension, like Bryan threatening to kick Cena's head in again if Cena wins the title, or Cena reminding Bryan that he lost to a knee once but that he won't let it happen again. Something. I don't know. Sure, they could be using this to build to a future program, but like I said, I'm not watching characters naturally develop conflicts with one another because of their personalities. I'm watching tension emerge because someone wrote "TENSION" and "ANGER" on the script for the show when Cena and Orton were having a talking segment at the beginning of the show. Show, don't tell. And so on.

It is a bit funny how poor widdle D Bry can't talk/fight off dastardly tactics on his own when he's kicking ass just minutes before during a match. While it's supposed to make Cena look noble, it inadvertently makes him look a lil grand-standing and douchey.

Cena's relationship with Bryan has been the biggest problem with Bryan since he started his main event push and in my mind it's the biggest reason why Summerslam didn't do that well.
Bryan doesn't need Cena to talk for him. He didn't need Cena to "graciously" offer him a title shot and be so friendly with him going into the second biggest fight of the year. Every time Cena lobbies for Bryan to get a match it sends the subtle message that Bryan needs someone else to fight his battles for him.

Maybe he just felt bad for Bryan and came out there because it was the right thing to do? I think Cena's alleged "grandstanding/selfishness" is becoming a meme at this point. I don't see it, and I'm doing my best to look at it from the perspective of a non-Cena fa.

Doesn't bother me. "Big Damn Hero" moments like this have been a part of wrestling forever, and the idea that only NOW it's a problem makes it look like it's only because of who's doing it and not the storytelling element itself.

In an ideal world, because of who was doing it, fans would be over the moon.

But seriously, weren't people complaining earlier this year about Cena not stepping up to help Ryback with dealing with The Shield?

It would make sense if he also saved Kofi or Evan Bourne, why is saving people the right thing to do only when they're super over? Yes I'm still pissed about him ruining Ryder.

Really I don't want anybody to be anybody's friend in wrestling unless it's a tag team or a stable, making friends with other wrestlers in what is presented as a competitive sport just feels wrong every time to me.

Cena was watching backstage and got so mad he threw down his slurpee cup.
"HE'S GETTING TOO OVER, VINCE I'M GOING OUT THERE RIGHT NOW DAMN IT THIS IS MY TOWN"
Then on the way out he stopped by the sound guy: "Listen you little f*** I'm going out there, you play my f***ing music or i will rip your head off and mail it to your kids"
*Cena goes out smiling* "hey Cenation!"

Been saying it for ages.
"My Little Buddy" Daniel Bryan doesn't bode well.
It will probably end with the evil and twisted Daniel Bryan betraying his good friend John Cena, then Cena appearing in a segment looking glum faced, talking about how Bryan broke his heart, betrayed the children of the WWE universe, and how Cena must avenge this treachery.

The way it comes off to me is that Cena's been top dog long enough that he's got a lot of pull, on screen and kayfabe. Hell the whole Orton/Bryan rivalry started when the Authority basically started asking who would be the face of the WWE with Cena injured. So (in kayfabe) Cena sees a guy who's getting a raw deal. He sees a guy the fans love and genuinely caring about what's best for business (actually best for business) he uses his pull to give the guy a hand. The guy can clearly do it on his own but he's facing some major oppression from the authority. I think it makes great sense with Cena's character to do things like that. Now behind the scenes there's probably more to it but I don't have a problem with wrestlers lending each other a hand. From the start the Cena/Bryan thing was played as coming from a place of respect. Two guys can respect each other and still beat the hell out of each other if they're in a match.

It's all probably leading up to a Daniel Bryan heel turn.

Turning Bryan heel anytime soon is the kind of thing TNA would do.
"The fans like someone! We might make money! TURN HIM HEEL! ALSO TURN HIM FACE AGAIN IN A FEW MONTHS THEN BACK TO HEEL!"
