So the long and short here is Cena verbally puts DB over as someone who deserves a title shot...and we hate it?

It feels kind of like what they did with Cena and Ryder. We're probably not too far off from Cena making out with Brie in front of Bryan.

Ryback and Daniel Bryan were already plenty over at the point where it was decided that John Cena would speak for them. You don't have to be that articulate to speak for yourself in wrestling but I think it's hard to really be seen as your own man (or woman) if you don't. Undertaker disagrees. Bearer did most of the talking at the start of Taker's career. A manager is different than another wrestler, especially another wrestler that's more established and presented as being on a higher tier. I'd also argue that Undertaker grew in prestige as he left Bearer.

John Cena ruins everything. I dropped my bowl of cereal this morning. All I could say was, "f***ing John Cena."

I think the argument is that it's a not-so-thinly veiled attempt by WWE to siphon Bryan's appeal onto Cena to increase his own popularity. It's not meant to bury Bryan, but to make Cena "more likeable." It's like a politician dropping the usual idiotic propaganda buzzwords in his speech, designed implicitly to knee-jerk appeal to voters. "Freedom!" "Liberty!" etc.

The segment had a weird vibe. It felt like Cena was Daniel Bryan's dad and he was trying to convince his Pee Wee football coach to put him the game.

How can John ruin anything when he is obviously the nicest kindest man who is the moral compass of the WWE just helping his lesser friends out?!?!
