What's the criteria? Popularity? Politics? It seems that every year, they just pick some random bands to go in. www.rockhall.com/inductees/induction-process/I'm pretty satisfied with this year's class; almost everyone I voted for made the cut. But the best news of all? THE E STREET BAND IS FINALLY GOING IN! They're getting the Award For Musical Excellence, which "honors those musicians, producers and others who have spent their careers out of the spotlight working with major artists on various parts of their recording and live careers. Though they often play a key role in the creation of memorable music, the public rarely knows them by name. A separate committee selects the inductees in this category." I'm gonna listen to E Street Radio all day to celebrate. I also found this to be the highlight of the inductions...just sad it comes after The Big Man has passed.

I know the Hall means nothing overall, but I'm very happy that KISS finally got in. I'll just be interested to see if they show up at all, because I can't see a situation where Paul, Gene, Ace and Peter are all in the same room and things go smoothly. I know Ace doesn't like Paul and Gene, but Peter flat out hates them the way Axl and Slash hate each other. If nothing else, I'm sure he won't be there ad that's fine by me. And now a word from Gene and Paul. The spirit of rock and roll for me has always meant following the paths I choose regardless of what my critics or my peers think. For 40 years KISS has built an army that apologizes to no one and I'm honored to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame knowing we have remained true to ourselves and our fans. ~~ Paul Stanley To the KISS Army, Ace, Peter, Eric Carr, Vinnie, Mark, Bruce, Tommy and Eric Singer, Bill Aucoin, Doc McGhee and to my partner of 40 years, the ever youthful Paul Stanley...and all the members of the KISS Family. This honor is for you. 40 years of Rockin' and still going strong. ~~ Gene Simmons We just spoke with Peter. Whatever ongoing issues, no way to not share in celebrating what we started 40 years ago. - Paul Stanley

As someone who only likes a handful of KISS songs...they should've been in the HoF YEARS ago. I'm amazed they're just now making it in.
Still, this is a good class.

when they induct bands it includes all past and former members, i remember from when certain members of bands that got inducted that were in black sabbath at one point they used to list it on black-sabbath.com and then they would point out that this member is now in but sabbath isnt
its weird

Izzy mentioned it in Vegas during the guns residency to a group of fans asking what happened on his end of the hall and basically went "they didnt want everybody, they chose select people, thats not cool, either all get in or none get in, im not ok with how it went down, it wasnt their creation to claim man"

Sometimes there is some controversy like when the O'Jays were inducted and original member Bill Isles was not included, but Sammy Strain, who joined the group after it had already seen it's biggest success, was included. There was some minor controversy when Dave Navarro wasn't included with Red Hot Chili Peppers. Reportedly it will just be Ace, Peter, Paul, and Gene. This according to musical historian/radio personality Eddie Trunk who claims to have spoken to Frehley as well as Peter Criss's wife.

Nirvana's will be interesting. I can't see Dave Grohl singing any Nirvana hits.

Vinnie should dress up like Ace and see how far he gets.
I took it as the original members only. For me, Eric Carr would go in with them if anyone else, but leave it at the original 4 or include everyone

Sadly, Linda Ronstadt has Parkinson's disease and can no longer sing, nor will she'll be able to attend the ceremony. She's been eligible since 1994. I wish for her sake she could have gotten in sooner so she would have been able to enjoy it. But no, Madonna's much more important . In what way does Madonna not deserves to be in the Hall? People get stuck on the 'Rock and Roll' aspect. Madonna was a musical pioneer who managed to reinvent herself a handful of times, while maintaining popluarity and the megastar image. She absolutely belongs.

Madonna was a musical pioneer who managed to reinvent herself a handful of times, while maintaining popluarity and the megastar image. She absolutely belongs. I never said she didn't belong. I'm not really a fan of her personally, but I won't deny the influence she's had. I do think there are a lot of bands/singers that should have been inducted before Madonna. I used to be of the mindset that the Hall of Fame should just be about rock music, but if that were the case people like Johnny Cash, Muddy Waters, and Marvin Gaye wouldn't be in there. Now that would be a travesty.
