Nirvana, KISS, Peter Gabriel, Hall and Oates, Cat Stevens, and Linda Ronstadt (ROCK!) all made the cut.
So happy to see Nirvana go in. I guess I'll go and listen to 'In Utero' in celebration.

Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer" is my choice for the single greatest music video ever made. Super pumped he's getting in.

No N.W.A or Chic? I don't care that they're "not rock", they're gonna have to get in sometime. Glad to see H&O make it though.

Nirvana was a shoe-in for going in their first year. Nice to see Kiss FINALLY get in. I'm kind of glad Cat Stevens and Linda Ronstadt made it as well. This is probably the most mainstream class in a while. There's usually an obscure band I've never heard of getting in. Or three.

What's the criteria? Popularity? Politics? It seems that every year, they just pick some random bands to go in.

What's the criteria? Popularity? Politics? It seems that every year, they just pick some random bands to go in. www.rockhall.com/inductees/induction-process/I'm pretty satisfied with this year's class; almost everyone I voted for made the cut. But the best news of all? THE E STREET BAND IS FINALLY GOING IN! They're getting the Award For Musical Excellence, which "honors those musicians, producers and others who have spent their careers out of the spotlight working with major artists on various parts of their recording and live careers. Though they often play a key role in the creation of memorable music, the public rarely knows them by name. A separate committee selects the inductees in this category." I'm gonna listen to E Street Radio all day to celebrate.

Nirvana don't deserve to be in the Hall... Not yet. Not when there's bands like Deep Purple and Yes. They deserved the spot more than any of them. Nirvana are fine, but let the classic rock bands that helped build everything we know and love today be in there. Maybe next year Nirvana could have taken a spot. But now? Come on.

Also, I just realized that Nirvana's induction means Pat Smear will go into the HoF. That just makes their induction even better.

This is just like the WWE Hall of Fame as far as enshrining is concerned. Marketing gimmick.
