I'm not willing to not eat at Cracker Barrel because of some idiot duck caller. Letting his ignorance dictate anything is crazy.

I've only known Cracker Barrel brand cheese that is really, really good. No idea if it has any connection to the restaurant, but I've often been interested in trying the restaurant. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cracker_BarrelNope. It look like it a restaurant that deal with southern food.

Unrelated but if you are like me (Or the Rock, now that I think about it) and love pancakes, ya gotta try some from Cracker Barrel. Better than IHOP.

My main gripe is with A&E, they have a show full of fundamentalist Christians who adhere to the Bible, what do they think they're opinions on gays would be? If A&E has an issue with fundamentalist Catholicism they should probably just can the show all together, because I'm certain the rest of the family shares the same beliefs, and if A&E finds those beliefs to be reprehensible they probably don't have a need for that show on their station. I'd say A&E did know where the guy(s) stood. They just failed in terms of due diligence, having the the cash-cow keep it's yap shut. Maybe they did tell him to keep it under wraps and he just said F-it.

That right there is hypocritical, since it is just Cracker Barrel "standing up for what they believe in" kind of the same thing Phil was doing right? Everyone is entitled to their opinions and beliefs, right? Well I say they're hypocritical because they were at one time anti Gay. people can change.

Cracker Barrel has cracked. They are pulling Duck Dynasty merch from their restaurants. The storm is staying strong. I have to say I did not expect that. Though they're a publicly traded company so maybe their shareholders pressured them to do something.

Not much to do with anything but why are there so many redneck/hillbilly reality shows? Off of the top of my head I can think of the duck guys, multiple swamp guys, multiple moonshine guys, and the Honey Boo Boo guys. I mean you put these backwards type people on TV and have them say stupid shit and then get surprised when they do an interview and say stupid shit.

People still read GQ?

They just trot out stereotypical characters and some from the south assume, "Hey! They're just like us!" They don't realize they're being 'Larry the Cable Guy'd' and most of those people aren't 'legit' rednecks or they aren't even from the south. It's a lot like mainstream country music. You just mention a lot of redneck buzzwords (truck, hunt, beer, fishing, etc.) and the money starts flowing from the south. That's my theory, at least.

There are plenty of Cracker Barrel restaurants here in Georgia.
They have an 'Old Timey' store where they sell toys, candy, shirts, CDs, DVDs which focus on things like Christmas (if it's in season), old country music, old TV shows like Andy Griffith Show, stuff with college football teams (especially Georgia, but that should be expected where I live). You enter the store first and you wait in the store until a table is ready. The menu is 'Southern' food and you can also order from the breakfast menu all day. The restaurant has rocking chairs out front. It is definitely marketed as Southern and 'Old Timey.'
In short, they specifically cater to people who would relate to the gang from Duck Dynasty.

I find it even funnier that it took this long for people to get bent out of shape over anything the show has to offer. Just surprised it was from Phil, who is probably the most low-key character on the program.
Because if anything offends me more, it's either
1) the three shrew-like, blonde Stepford wives, or, 2) the "lovable" Vietnam veteran Uncle Si, that loves to talk about bombings or napalm when looking for those dang beavers.

This motherf***er really thinks Black people were happy under Jim Crow? REALLY! From the way I've heard most of the media cover him spouting off that shit, it's weird how that fact is kinda swept under the rug. Dude was even talking about "pre-Welfare" going right back to all the goddamned stereotypes we've had on us since forever. It's a big part of the reason I want that dude's business to crumble. From the history I know and the relatives I know who lived through it (like my grandfather and MY FATHER, who was born in 1957), you let the poor white people believe you were happy and relatively docile. It gave them less reason to kill/jail you or your relatives. It was a survival technique. They weren't necessarily happy to be working and living alongside them (would you, if you were a Black person who lived in an area where submission to white people was written into law?), but their lives depended on white people believing they were. To not know this IN 2013 is to just deliberately not want to know anything about actual history.

These types of incidents really bring a bit of a 'culture war' to the forefront.
Consider this:
What has caused more outrage, vitriol, backlash, and passion from people: 1) Phil's comments 2) A&E suspending him/media reporting on his comments
The story has moved away from 'Duck Dynasty star makes controversial comments' and 'A&E suspends Phil' to 'New episodoes WILL feature Phil' and 'Cracker Barrell backs down on Duck Dynasty merchandise suspension.'
I guess it's a sign of calculation by corporations. They probably would rather be in the position of repudiating the comments and distancing themselves, but in doing so they are setting off a fire-storm. Actually making those comments doesn't get you the kind of backlash that a suspension for them will get, at least in this case.
I could be very wrong in the way I view this situation. It does remind of of the Chik-fil-A story where many felt the need to go to the restaurant as a call to action. Supporting them was their cause. I think a lot of companies fear getting on the wrong side of this group of people.

Unrelated but if you are like me (Or the Rock, now that I think about it) and love pancakes, ya gotta try some from Cracker Barrel. Better than IHOP. I've heard that is a pro wrestler's paradise. A great video online was Al Snow speaking about Ryback's eating habits during Tough Enough 4 and how the highlight of his day was potentially going to cracker barrel. Though, I guess with them going back to supporting the guy, maybe they should call themselves Cracka Barrel. I see a lot of people on Facebook supporting this, and like, why are people defending assholes. Like, this guy is genuinely an idiot, but because he's a reality tv star or someone people look up to, or want to hang around with, they'll just be ok with what he says? I don't know, I guess the people I admire, when they say something I disagree with, it's not the end of the world. Jim Cornette doesn't like Colt Cabana and funny can't draw money in wrestling. I don't agree with that, he's completely wrong about Colt, but I still like him. Just because you admire someone or put them on some pedestal as someone you would like to be like, doesn't mean you agree with everything they say, and they should be called out if they're wrong. Like, when CM Punk was called on some homophobic statements he said. What did he do? He said, yeah, I f***ed up.

Like, when CM Punk was called on some homophobic statements he said. What did he do? He said, yeah, I f***ed up. Off topic, but one of my favorite things with homophobia, out of touch old loners from Free Republic and CM Punk intersecting were comments online when he told bigots to drink bleach: Between hilariously dated like 1970s era wrestling assumptions (this was from May 2012, height of CM Punk's bland face run, btw): "On the contrary. Developing a “bad guy” persona the fans love to hate is a staple of professional wrestling. This publicity stunt will put money is his and the organizers’ pockets. That’s not to say he isn’t in fact a poof. But I can picture him showing up in the ring in a wedding dress to set the stage for a virtual riot in the stands. Whatever sells tickets" "Isn’t this just part of a Vince McMahon scripted act? Like back when the Iron Sheikh would come out and say “Iran #1! USA, ptui!” Just so Captain Hetero can come out and kick his arse in a big Friday night pay-per-view?" Demographic experts: "I can’t imagine the general target demographic for televised wrestling is much in favor of homosexuals, so this guy ain’t too bright to get mixed up in this." CM Punk is gay, from people who have fairly evidently not watched wrestling in about 25+ years: "One can only *imagine* the holds he tries on his boyfriend du jour. " "An empty-headed sodomite entertainer masquerading as an athlete." "He probably saves his "hardest blows" for his boyfriend. He loves rasslin' 'cause he gets to grab men's crotches and stick his face in 'em... " Folks who are totally up to speed on the WWE's major markets: "Good move, Punk, with the WWF being so popular on the liberal east and west coasts. /s" And one of my favorite comments in internet history: "This could get entertaining. This guy needs to be retired from the business. I’m not talking about protests or anything at his matches, because a lot of wrestlers make a career out of being “bad guys”. Instead word of mouth that he is gay, and involved with other gay wrestlers. That straight wrestlers don’t want to practice with him because he gets “sexually excited”, and it grosses them out. That sort of thing could severely hurt his career."

We don't mean to offend...so we're going to side with the guy who offended gay people and black people.
