However the man, famous or not is entitle to his own opinion and I respect a person for being willing to speak their mind no matter how idiotic. No, I don't think respect should be given to anybody making such absurdly uneducated statements and inadvertently spreading hurtful hate and potentially socially damaging misinformation.

I'm not surprised that anyone on this god awful show happens to be this ignorant. I hope they're 'Paula Deen'd' so they can fade out like a bad dream.

Imagine that, People on here wanting to take away Freedom of speech. No matter how Replusive I Find his opinions, He is entitled to freedom of speech. Nobody said that. We're saying it's not worthy of any level of respect. No reason to ride for his right to use this tremendous gift in the worst possibly way.

Freedom of speech doesn't equal freedom of criticism or freedom of consequences. Say whatever you want, but be prepared to knuckle up.

Imagine that, People on here wanting to take away Freedom of speech. No matter how Replusive I Find his opinions, He is entitled to freedom of speech. He is, but where it gets problematic is where the freedoms of others come in. His detractors, too, have a right to speak, and they have a right to write sponsors of the shows and the network and put pressure on them. I don't personally think it might result in anything too serious happening, given the economic power of the show, but they are, too, exercising their rights. I don't care if he loses his job or not, as I don't watch the show, anyway, but whether he was fired or not, he'd still have every right to free speech, which also carries the consequence that people may not agree with him and his views. You can fart as much as you want in public, people can still say it smells.

Not to mention the fact that anyone who would say this (concerning homosexuality and civil rights) in a public forum is either really stupid or just an ignorant asshole.
I feel comfortable with this blanket statement: Anyone who equates homosexuality with bestiality is a piece of shit and CERTAINLY doesn't deserve a hit show/a show of any kind.
I found his views on gays archaic, disgusting, and ignorant. His views on the Jim Crow laws just pushed it all over the edge.

Imagine that, People on here wanting to take away Freedom of speech. No matter how Replusive I Find his opinions, He is entitled to freedom of speech. You're right. It is his right to say these things. Hey, do you know what else falls under Freedom of Speech? It's my right to call him a complete and utter asshole for his moronic opinions.

Imagine that, People on here wanting to take away Freedom of speech. No matter how Replusive I Find his opinions, He is entitled to freedom of speech. People only want freedom of speech if it reaffirms what they believe. A lot of people disagree with what he said. A lot of people agree with what he said. Just because a person makes you feel uncomfortable or has beliefs that think are ignorant doesn't mean that he doesn't have the right to say them. He spoke from his religious convictions on the subject of homosexuality. I think everybody, those who agree and those who don't, knows that he used bad, offensive terminology. He's made an apology--not for the content so much as the wording--like all apologies you can accept it as you may. If you want to enjoy his show. Great. If you agree with him. Great. If you disagree with him. Great. If you want to boycott him. Great. etc, etc, etc. He has freedom of speech. You have the freedom to respond to said speech however you want to. That's the great thing about our system.

Orange, you really buried the lede there. The stuff that was left out is a lot worse. Yeah, again I didn't want the thread to get locked so I was trying to leave out the stuff that was even remotely religious. Chaz got what I didn't, though, so everything that can be discussed is here now. I missed the bestiality thing or else I would've included it.

I believe, wholeheartedly, that this guy is a f***ing moron and if he loses his show, good. Freedom of Speech doesn't absolve you of consequences. If I say that Hitler was a great guy, I deserve to be called an asshole.

How is this "Well the South is stupid" considered an okay thing to say when talking about tolerance? I'm technically from the South (Virginia), but would you believe that I'm not an ignorant racist human being? SHOCKER FAN! SHOCKER!
Just because you're from a certain place doesn't mean you act or think a certain way. The line of thinking from some people is just as closed-minded as what people are accusing other people of.
That said, in everything I've ever seen Phil (or any of the Duck Dynasty people for that matter) in, they've never come off as hateful people. Obviously that could be the product of marketing or editing, but I've never gotten the impression that Phil is a bad guy. What he said in that interview? Clearly it's controversial and misguided. Comes off as more ignorant than mean-spirited.
Everyone absolutely has the right to be offended by what he said, just as he had the right to say it. I just can't bring myself to be mad at the dumb shit people say anymore.

Complete clown and indefensible, ignorant, willfully stupid point of view that shouldn't have the old freedom of speech bullshit trotted out to try and mask the massive, glaring shitty holes in what this prick is saying. Defending stupidity with freedom of speech doesn't work any more. This toilet has no real reason to think like he does when he could probably go a few yards down the street and read a f***ing book.
