So, basically you guys have nothing. I remember when characters would use actions to tell a story. HBK turns heel by kicking Janetty through a window, Piper kicks Cindy Lauper in the ribs, Kane rips off a steel cage door, Bossman fed Al Snow his dog, etc. Or take other crazy characters. George Steele would eat turnbuckles, Mankind would tear his hair out, Boogeyman would eat worms, whatever. Wrestling is a visual medium and it needs actions to get the characters and stories over. The commentators just telling us this guy is crazy or that guys hates that guy, with no storyline reasons is nothing. It's lazy and why there's no heat. Even though I don't like the angle, Bryan joining the Wyatts got heat because it was something that we saw happen. Ambrose has been around for over a year. If they want him to be a psycho, then they need to have him do something psychotic. Until then, he's just a guy doing a Ledger Joker impression. Why does this bother you so much? Haha. Odd thing to get worked up about.

My guess is either Ambrose was a huge Jake mark as a kid himself. Or he likes having long, wriggling things on his face.
I just made myself throw up a little.

Odd thing to get worked up about. It bothers me because it seems half the characters and storylines are imagined. That can be fun to do, fantasy bookings, assigning team names and whatnot but it's sad that it's on us to do it, and not creative.

I don't think it's as much imagined as it is you're completely ignoring and/or minimizing everything that's been said in regards to it, and you haven't been paying close enough attention to how the WWE itself presents him, via his own actions or through commentators moving the story along. No one has "imagined" anything; they present and play him up as being psychotic, and if you somehow missed them doing that, it's not anyone's job on here to convince you otherwise.

I mean, while I have taken quite the break from WWE...I haven't seen much out of Ambrose outside of the snaps inside the ring every so often and the facial expressions. And to be honest, I don't think a lot of just facial expressions given colored history of wrestling itself and basically everyone back in the day doing it. I'm usually the kind of person to pick up the smallest subtleties, and I have to say that Ambrose hasn't done a lot. He's certainly done more as Moxley, but I don't count that, since most superstars are expected to make an impact as a blank slate. Again, not trying to take anything away from the guy, but he hasn't done a thing to warrant my thinking that he's some destructive psychopath. I'm still of the belief that even if Ambrose is able to work at a 10, WWE has him set at about a 4 or 5.

But again, whether he's actively being a loon or not, it's not anyone's imagination that that's how they're playing him up and presenting him. Cole, or rather McMahon in his earpiece, mentions how off-the-rails Ambrose is on virtually every show he has a match on.

Cole, or rather McMahon in his earpiece, mentions how off-the-rails Ambrose is on virtually every show he has a match on. And while that's fine...it still doesn't give someone a lot to operate with. It's like Tazz saying that Danny Basham is a bull in a china shop. It gives you an idea of what someone is capable of, but without being allowed to illicit that character in other means, it just comes off as a one liner to put over the talent without doing much to expand the character.

But I haven't seen him do anything psychotic and I'm not satisfied with Cole telling me he is (not that I've ever heard him say the word) or goofy faces and mannerisms. I'm interested in deeds and actions. Part of the fun of psychotic characters in wrestling is seeing the crazy things they do. Aside from that one minor example mrjl gave, Dean hasn't done anything.

For all the people saying he's just doing a "poor man's Ledger Joker", allow me to say this:
He's been doing "Ledger Joker" while Ledger was still on the Mountain.

There are similarities between him and Heath Ledger's joker's mannerisms, and he sometimes sort of looks like him (sans makeup) but I've never thought he was right out doing an impression of him. He displayed the same mannerisms in his promos as Jon Moxley pre-2008.
