Word. That's another level. The loss of life is awful enough, putting the wife through THAT!? She has to live with it. Terrible. I ask this not to be a dick, but out of curiosity, have either of you ever been diagnosed with depression? I have depression and even I think how'd all that transpired was terrible.

There's a fundraiser for his family. They have already obliterated their goal but I'll still put it here in case anyone wants to donate: www.gofundme.com/6groao

How horrible for everyone involved. Thankfully, most people are being respectful about this but I'm going to have to avoid anything TGWTG-related for a while, since self-harm/suicide is massively triggering for me and I feel horrible just reading about it here. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)

I've been trying to process this for most of the night, and my mind keeps coming back to a confused rumble and then a lot of swearing. Like... it's hard to believe.
Just... ****, ya know?

I loved his work.
Depression is a bitch. It makes you do things you never would do.

I was a fan of his work, and even bought and imported games based on his recommendations. Tweeted with him a couple of times too. I did not see this coming at all. To say this sucks is a massive overstatement. My condolences to his family and friends.

I can't wait until the day mental illness actually gets the proper awareness it deserves.

As a fellow depressive with regular suicidal thoughts, the only reason I don't do it is because of the impact it would have on my family. This.

I'ts been nearly a week and I've read or watched many of the tributes, and itjust HIT me today that he's gone. I never met him, never spoke to him like many of you have...but the fact that we could, that he was so open and approachable. So seemingly warm and loving to his fans. I've replayed his affirmation video a few times over this week, I've watched his stuff as I could...looking for...something, some clue...something that somebody could have seen and acted on.
Just....damn.

Never met him, never watched his videos, only know him from crossover videos, and TGWTG movies, and yet, seeing that last thing in this video that he said to his fans...holy crap, I'm sobbing my eyes out wishing he was still with us. That's an incredible thing to say and it had to have made an impact on some of his fans for sure!

And speaking from the heart, as someone who was actually saved around Christmas...this is why suicide is never an answer. The impact it leaves on everyone involved, directly or not, is far worse then any pain and it's a chain that never stops.

Just goes to show you that nobody ever really knows what is going on in someone else's head.
The nature of the World is to make you concerned with every possible dumb thing other than the state of the people around you. It's incorrect.
f*** society. f*** the power structure at your dumb job and your silly aspirations. If we were less shoved up our own asses, these types of things might not happen.

The problem of course is that people who commit suicide often do it because in their mind, it will somehow improve their family and friends' lives. Again, suicide is in no way a rational decision, it's not weighing the pros and cons and coming to the logical conclusion that the best thing to do is to end it all, because it's never a logical conclusion, it's a sudden urge and unless you're lucky enough for it to go away before it's too late, it gets the best of you.
That's why it's always so sudden and relatives don't see it coming even with someone who's had a history of suicide attempts: even the person who commits suicide had no intention of doing so just minutes earlier.

I see it a tad differently.
The impulse to make the move is sudden, but that attitude that leads to it has been in part cultivated by apathy or at least what the person percieves as such.
You pretty much have to kill yourself to get people to actually feel you and then you don't even get a ticket to the show.
If you truly want out, you just up and do it one day. If you sit on it, you're looking for something that you're not getting and it just twists and grows stronger until you eventually do.
And folks that have these thoughts/urges aren't stupid. They get the difference between someone that doesn't give a f*** about them going "HEY BUDDY. YOU DOING OKAY TODAY? WE JUST WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT WOVE YOU" and a true friend going "Look, man, what's going on? What can I do?" That then proceeds to legitimately be there and tries to help right the ship as best they can.
Not that it would 100% eliminate suicide, but I think the attention that gets paid to it is often patronizing.
