Listen to fans after Daniel Bryan hit the knee on John Cena, that kind of reaction is what matters, buyrates be damned. And besides, if they build up Bryan to be a main event player, maybe he will start to being in more buyrates. You can't hold a guy down because buyrates are lower than usual on the FIRST PPV he main events. That's just ridiculous. No, but it's not like he did anything in the next 3 shows he main evented either. My point is you can't just say "screw buyrates, book to crowd reactions" if you have someone that IS drawing the pay-per-view buys. Granted we will see what Batista does from here on out, but it seemed like on Monday that his return garnered the highest 8 PM to 9 PM Raw viewers outside of Raw 1000 so who knows He popped a big rating, sure. But, I highly doubt that'll be sustainable, much less that fact that's he most likely going to be booed tomorrow, it's not going to look good for him.

Huh, RAW in Cleveland tomorrow. Wonder how they'll react? Maybe our mutual love for Daniel Bryan can finally bring a truce between Cleveland and Pittsburgh once and for all. Imagine, a sea of brown and orange, black and yellow, arm in arm, together, shouting YES! YES! YES! It'd be like Bret Hart bringing peace to the Middle East during his matches over there against that dastardly Yokozuna.

I admire the enthusiasm but everyone has heard this every year. Ryback finished in the final 2 last year. Everyone said how lovely it was that he was getting a big push and he'd be WWE Champion soon. Cena won the Rumble. What's changed since then? Roman Reigns was incredible tonight and it'd be just great if he got a mega push and would be the next guy but WWE hasn't truly gotten behind a new guy since Cena and Batista in 2005 and every road to Wrestlemania since then has felt like the exact same tired old routine. It's not like no one else is over enough to take the top spot, Daniel Bryan is comfortably the most cheered for face in the company and he jobbed in the undercard tonight (not that I minded at the time). There is absolutely nothing to be positive about here because WWE is happy to rely on the big names from the last 15 years until they're too crippled to actually wrestle. My point is going to offer you any solace, but there have been a handful of new guys who have been treated as on the Cena/Batista/Orton level in recent years. Sheamus, Punk, Bryan, ADR, Miz...and even Barrett and Ryback for a cup of coffee. While the WWE hasn't had them completely replace Cena as THE top guy, they've certainly been treated as top guys and have gotten memorable moments and strong, sustained pushes for the most part. They've had moments. There was a period where they wouldn't have even let those guys get over. I do believe that a number of them could be just as big, if not bigger, than Cena if the WWE put their full power behind them. They haven't yet. That sucks. Tonight also did a lot to help make Bray Wyatt and Roman Reigns. The SHIELD are another group of "new blood" that's been pushed strong over the past year. Really, all that would need to change for a lot of people to change their perspective on the WWE's perceived inability to make new starts would be to just have Cena and Orton go on vacation for 6-10 months. That's not fair to Orton, really, because he was on the back-burner for what felt like several, several years. Cena's really the guy that they just don't want to ever, ever live without. It's almost like they're more addicted to him as THE guy than they were Hulk Hogan. WWE knows that the young generation is the back bone of their company--it just so happens that older, well-established attractions make them more money. They--to their credit--do try to balance this out so that everybody shines. They just kind of fail at it, from time to time. Punk is the only one out of those listed who've actually lived up to being a star. ADR and Sheamus were pushed from the start and given world titles way too early despite lukewarm reactions. Miz was an over heel who had his momentum halted by Cena and never got it back, Ryback and Barrett are key examples of people being over in their role who were given up on in favour of Cena, Orton and the part-timers. It's been WWE's flaw since 2005 that hasn't been fixed. I love Wyatt and The Shield. Reigns has been awesome the last few PPVs and being in the final 2 is very encouraging. Then you look at Ryback last year and you're afraid to actually have any excitement as there will be an inevitable letdown.

Apologies if any of this has already been said - it's late and I don't want to wade through 17 pages of outrage. Speaking as one of the foremost "Bryan looked like an utter chump during his Orton feud" people, let me say: him losing to Wyatt was the right idea. As tonight has shown, Bryan is basically bulletproof at this point in terms of crowd heat. Losing to Wyatt doesn't hurt Bryan at all and is a huge boost for Wyatt in terms of credibility, though truthfully the match made both men look like a million bucks. Now, as for Bryan not being in the Rumble: yeah, it's frustrating, but it's not the end of the world. In all honestly, I'm more confident than ever now that WWE is going to give him the ball and run with it at some point, because it's pretty much impossible that they'll be able to ignore weeks of crowds shitting on their main events. This is true, until tonight, I had almost written Bray Wyatt off as a failed experiment, but that was a hell of a match and they used Bryan exactly how they should be using him right now, using his nearly infinite amount of heat to light fires under other people's asses. Mania is Mania, it will make it's money regardless, what matters to them in the long term is getting people to care about what happens after Mania, in my opinion, THAT'S when you strap the rocket to Bryan's ass and give him the belt.

Huh, RAW in Cleveland tomorrow. Wonder how they'll react? Well, if they react the wrong way, WWE will just bury Miz and Ziggler some more, if that's even possible.

Welp...I figured this was going to be the case.
The wishful thinkers have until Elimination Chamber to get the title on Bryan.
LOL!!!! YEAH RIGHT!!!!!!! That's gonna happen!!
But nevermind all that if we get Shawn Michaels vs. Bryan right? RIGHT? It's the same damn thing! Or maybe it's more! Because it's Shawn Michaels! YEAH!! Let's spin this stupid shit into a positive! Shawn Michaels is like Bryan's teacher and stuff!! And he hasn't wrestled in years, despite still being very fresh in everyone's mind because he doesn't ever go away for a significant amount of time! Let's bring back Shawn Michaels! And Stone Cold! And The Rock! We need more old stars to get the new stars over!! Yay!! Thank you WWE! Keep excessively wasting our time with stuff that a majority of the audience boos! Because we'll technically be happy with it no matter what!!
Seriously...what a crock of shit. I had a very good feeling that Bryan wasn't going to win the Rumble, much less be in it. I was hoping I would be wrong, but WWE once again just looks the other way and does exactly what it wants to do. I really wish TNA didn't suck so bad, because I wouldn't mind switching allegiances after 20 years of being a follower of WWE. I haven't watched in 6 months as it is, and Wrestlemania 30 isn't going to have me excited in the slightest.

Boy if this event or the Elimination chamber do huge buy rate numbers while being headline by Batista that be something to watch.
I'm not saying that will happen but most wrestling fans are weird.

I realize now that WWE wins either way. We don't watch, they eliminate the segment that they don't want watching anymore and talking shit about them. We watch, they get to carry on the way they want, and know that they don't take a hit to their bottom line.
I kinda feel like Bryan right now, to be honest.

Just my thoughts: I've been on here at the forums a bit, mostly I talk through the PPV's and shows as seen by my son, who still wants to go to Full Sail Uni because he knows NXT is filmed there. Tonight was FUN!........for a bit. At the end of the night I was surprised and actually heartened by the reaction to Roman Reigns (Yes I know at that point it was a reaction to DB not coming in) but he tried to make things interesting. That said, both of us kept expecting Daniel to pop up and either win or get shafted by the Wyatts somehow.
It was not a bad ending, it was a damn bad ending to have both Bats and Roman left to try to get a hostile (understandable) crowd back into it. Personally I hope Batista gets a good Mania moment against a great opponent And we get that 50,000 "YES" chant going but I simply don't know at this point. I will be watching RAW to see what, if anything happens to get my interest up.

Don't watch anymore. I know you want to, I do too. But if you're as annoyed with this blatant stupidity as I am, then make it noticable by no longer watching. Don't comment on it for the next couple of months. This is about the Daniel Bryan thing by the way. Which is why we're moving it into the other thread.
