It'll be better once Orton drops the title so Bryan could at least feud with different people for a change Who say's Orton needed to be Champion at WM? You could easily have had Orton lose to belt to Brock in the Chamber, and have Bryan win the Rumble. Brock Lesnar vs. Daniel Bryan, two great wrestlers in a fresh match-up. . My thought was Cena. Everything goes full circle, Bryan beats Cena for the title and celebrates to close out WM 30 on the shoulders of babyfaces.

I know Bryan will come out of this fine, but I worry about the other undercard guys who have been overlooked time and time again. If Daniel Bryan can't get the big break, how can guys like Ziggler, Kofi, and Cody ever expect to get one? That's my big concern.

I'm not trying to start anything here, really I'm not; but it seems like it's not possible for us few Bryan detractors express our feelings without coming across as trolling. Ir's easy to see why considering how many people love the guy, but I honestly feel like I can't express my opinion without being hounded on. In your case, there are two reasons: 1: You constantly remind us how much you dislike him, even in appreciation threads. As if you want to be known as the resident Bryan hater. 2: You can sometimes be antagonistic. In this thread, for example, you could have simply said "I'm not a fan of Daniel Bryan, so him not being in the Rumble doesn't bother me that much." Instead, you wrote "I laughed." I actually make a habit of avoiding Daniel Bryan appreciation threads and don't recall ever going into one just to be a dick that's one guy I don't want to be (if I'm wrong you'll have to remind me). The "I laughed" thing was just a joke/follow up to what I said earlier those kinds of posts aren't meant to be flamey and I'm sorry if it came off that way.

I feel like tonight they've missed the last best opportunity to do this Daniel Bryan thing properly. Except that after tonight, Bryan is even more popular than before. Kinda feel like we've said that after he's gotten f***ed over one too many times, honestly

Just woke up to this- not surprised at all but still disappointed.
Could someone please give me a bit more detailed account of what actually happened in terms of crowd reactions at the end of the Rumble?

Considering Punk vs Lesnar had a great story going into it and did nothing for SummerSlam (apparently because casuals still don't take Punk seriously), there's no way in hell they'd put Bryan against the guy Either way, Orton being champion at Mania to me has to happen because otherwise his reign of terror serves literally no purpose. At least if he loses at Mania it's a big relief moment that Orton finally lost the title after (essentially) holding it since August, where as dropping it at the Chamber is a matter of why the hell did he have to have the title for so long if he wasn't going to drop it at Mania

I hope the people who say they're not gonna watch WWE anymore actually mean it.

I'm still not entirely sure why people thought WWE would change their minds on Batista when Triple H outright said Batista is facing Orton after Lesnar.

Could someone please give me a bit more detailed account of what actually happened in terms of crowd reactions at the end of the Rumble? Batista got booed in his entrance, and there were some scattered Daniel Bryan chants in the second half but the crowd largely was popping for most everything and really into it. Then number thirty was Rey Mysterio and the crowd immediately turned violent, chanting for Bryan and booing the match for the rest of the show outside of a very, very loud, "Roman Reigns!" chant when it came down to just him and Batista. Sort of made for an interesting contrast with the reaction for the Cena / Orton match. They heckled that whole thing and did the usual random chants and all of that (though they mostly chanted for Bryan). At the end of the Rumble though, they weren't going for jokey chants, they were just pissed.

Daniel Bryan puts on good matches, makes the crowd cheer for him and has a catchphrase that's super fun to chant. He's been responsible for some of the loudest cheers I've seen in forever.
But he's not a good sports entertainer.
And this weightclass nonsense is irrelevant. A major part of his character is that he is a better wrestler than the big guys, that he wins by tying them up in knots and making them quit. Do real promotions have weight classes? Sure. But in the gym everyone rolls with everyone. Last week one of my training partners, a 135 pound fighter who is LITERALLY nicknamed Mini by us, tapped me out. I'm 250 pounds and, I like to think, a reasonably powerful dude. He's just a better grappler than I am. And that makes him easier to root for. It makes me want to cheer him on at fights because I see how hard this tiny little dude works in the gym against giant dude's even if the guys he fight are supposedly the same weight (You wouldn't believe how big some guys can get when they rehydrate).
Look. If Daniel Bryan is not a good sports entertainer I don't know what you want. Being tall matters a hell of a lot less than being interesting and good at what you do.

The exact scenario I've been pining for. It would've been PERFECT. Well, perfect would've been Bryan actually getting a title reign after he pinned John Cena clean. But it would've been ALMOST PERFECT.

Rey Mysterio came out to #30 and the crowd just started this loud, sustaining boo that was present for the rest of the match. They may have reacted to the Shield eliminations, but the rest of it was just booing and Daniel Bryan chants. The crowd started backing Roman Reigns when it came down to him and Batista, but then Batista chucked him and they just kept booing.

Except that after tonight, Bryan is even more popular than before. He's already extremely over. How much more does he need to be before WWE does something? It makes absolutely no sense that you need to get someone even MORE over, despite the fact that the fans are ready, Bryan is ready. And WWE is looking to 10 years ago instead. The only thing that Bryan is possibly going to get out of ANY of this is possibly a title match against someone who he will put over. They will not...I repeat WILL NOT pull the trigger on him and give him the title, at least any time in the foreseeable future. And when I say foreseeable future, I'm referring to the next 2 years, and if he does get it after that point, it will be at a point when most fans that are hot now are no longer interested. WWE can't keep doing this. I don't know why they are. But they are. They are the most hard headed idiots I have ever seen when it comes to running a company. You can't keep pissing away every opportunity that the fans give you, and the fans are practically begging for something new. And they aren't going to get it.

There are people who will never care for someone because of their size, no matter how good they are. That's why Demetrious Johnson, who many people say was the best fighter of 2013 is never going to be put on a pay-per-view because the 125 pound division doesn't draw viewers since a lot of people view them as "midgets" beating each other up. I mean this guy absolutely f***ed up the 2nd best fighter in his weight class in December to one of the lowest ratings UFC's ever gotten on Fox

I'm not angry or dissapointed because the WWE did exactly what I figured they would - What they want and never mind what the fans want
I'm just really confused on their insistence of going down this path. It's not the greatest comparison as I don't think Bryan would herald a new attitude type era but imagine if they had said forget the fans who want Austin pushed, we're pushing Marc Mero instead
I had plans to get together with some friends, order the rumble and have a laugh but as soon as Orton/Cena & Batista were annouced those got cancelled asap
