"Over with the live audiences". As in, those people who buy the expensive ass tickets in every city... Who are you making more money from? The people in those buildings who bought the $40-$250 tickets and buy a ton of crap at the merchandise stands, or the people sitting at home watching for free on cable? All they're doing with talk like that is proving that they care more about advertisers than paying customers. They....do care more about advertisers than paying customers. That's exactly the problem. I don't understand ignoring the people in the arenas. Like I said, every time I've gone to a WWE event, I get two to three good seats, depending on if my wife comes with my daughter and I. Those usually range from $75-175 apiece depending on whether it's RAW or PPV. Then I always get a shirt or two from the merch stand, and a plushy or two for my daughter. The shirts are $25 apiece and the last plushies I bought were $20. I'm one guy dropping that much money, and the building is full of people doing the same, if not spending even more. Why should people continue to go to these shows and drop that much cash if their voice is continuously ignored in favor of television ratings? They may as well start holding the show in an empty TV studio.

Maybe...WWE will pull a Ziggler and have Bryan win the World title the day after WrestleMania. You know, because for the reaction.

They may as well start holding the show in an empty TV studio. Hypothetically if on average WWE got 10,000 people per arena at $50 on average (both these numbers are probably off) for 250 shows a year, that boils down to $125,000,000 before deducting arena expenses and what not, which are VERY expensive. WWE's looking for close to $200,000,000 in tv fees when they start negotiating in a few weeks.

As always, Mick Foley has something to say:
Think of Mick's new TV, WWE.

Aren't advertisers partly why WWE went PG in the first place (aside from the Benoit stuff and the negative PR they had in 2007)? I personally think live audiences are a far better way of telling who's over than looking at TV ratings and PPV buys, especially since PPV buys aren't even going to matter when WWE Network starts since people will either watch because they get all the shows, or watch whenever they want to since they can, but advertisers will probably always have more of an influence than fans do. That said, I still think Daniel Bryan is winning the Rumble tonight.

Err. Sorry I haven't been around here for a while and hadn't considered that the odds maybe something people wouldn't want to see.

Wow thanks, I've wanted to avoid the betting odds all night and you had to go and post it in the main thread without a spoiler Err. Sorry I haven't been around here for a while and hadn't considered that the odds maybe something people wouldn't want to see. I don't care about the odds. BRYAN MUST WIN THE RUMBLE!

WWE's looking for close to $200,000,000 in tv fees when they start negotiating in a few weeks. And those TV rights wouldn't be worth that much if WWE played to tiny arenas populated by a scattering of apathetic fans. WWE, TV companies and advertisers don't want empty seats, they want their brands to be associated with sold-out arenas full of loud fans. There's a reason why when televised wrestling or any sport takes place in half-empty stadiums they position the cameras to show the biggest pockets of fans and attempt to hide the empty seats. Happy fans in the arena are worth a lot more than the money they directly give to WWE.

Err. Sorry I haven't been around here for a while and hadn't considered that the odds maybe something people wouldn't want to see. Anything that so much as hints at results must go into the spoiler thread. All previous posts have been moved there. As mentioned in the original post, we are being more cautious than usual tonight. Please be careful.

Since I am a selfish shill, you should all know that Wrestletaint.gov will have a full, detailed walkthrough of all the stuff going on backstage in Wednesday's article. Here's a taste...

Let's shoot for zero bans.
On another note, try not to use this thread for general Rumble discussion. Save that for the main thread.

I know this is a warning thread, but theres something in the air. The fact that we even need a thread like this is a testament to how electric this whole situation is. This is the first time ive been genuinely excited by the WWE in a long time. I cant f***ing wait for this Rumble.

No matter what happens tonight, I genuinely feel bad for the mods, because this place is going to be hopping. It's going to be difficult to keep up with everything considering how quick the posts come in.
I haven't decided if I'll be around tonight or not. We'll see...

I really wish I could find a gif of the Simpsons episode "Who Shot Mr. Burns?", where everyone in town is seen stroking a gun. I'd like to think that's the mood in the air right now.
