It's just extremely depressing to see the company **** up so bad that it causes one of it's massive stars to leave, especially that star being so passionate and wanting to help the industry so much. eh, I'm started to think it's more burnout than politics.

I guess were we discussing Zack Ryder or Yoshi Tatsu I'd have a lot more empathy in this case, but like I said, there isn't much left for Punk to accomplish, and he's such a legend in the business to where that seems like a fairly minor thing IMO to get hung up on. So you're not happy with your job? Welcome to America. The funny thing about the whole "don't like you're job?" thing is that they're all independent contractors...technically. There's zero recourse if they walk away from the table outside of not getting paid (depending on their contract). Its not like he couldn't walk into LITERALLY any promotion in the world and headline instantly. Though that would be quite ironic and hypocritical of him to do (if the reason he's leaving is because of Batista and the like getting the star spot). But really, it does come back to the fact that he's pretty much done it all in WWE at this point and based on how WWE's been writing the show as of late, they don't have anything NEW/interesting for him to do. The whole Shield fued should have been done months ago or at least peeled off to a Reigns vs Punk feud. SOMETHING other than repetitive dreariness for weeks on end. I think of it like this - lets say you're a top-level actor who doesn't HAVE to really work to eat. Would you be satisfied just doing some garbage film with a terrible story and actors who aren't on your perceieved level? I'd imagine those kinds of actors get to demand better scripts and get to handpick their directors, etc or they just walk away from it.

There is something funny about the likelihood that if Punk comes back in a couple years as a part timer, he'll finally get his Mania main event.

Both are correct actually, some people say "vice" instead of "vise" (myself included). in terms of this one, specific move, it is Anaconda Vi se Yes, in terms of that specific move it is correct. I was pointing out that in general "vice" would be considered the correct spelling for some people of that word, regardless of it being a specific name. When I first saw it spelled that way a few years back, I figured it was another of those words where in English it is "vice" and in American English it is "vise". Seeing as my spell check has highlighted "vise" as incorrect that seems to agree with me! Immaterial really, as the move is called that anyway.

I am so torn on this whole situation. I am very sad that Punk left and I am mad at the WWE for their ass backwards philosophy of booking main events in 2014. On the other hand, I am happy that Punk could be able to rest up and possibly heal some of those nagging injuries. I still have some doubts on whether this is a work or not, but I am starting to believe that Punk is burnt out and wants time off.

I thought Vice was sometimes used because it could be seen as a double-meaning, with Punk being straight-edge and drugs often being referred to as vices. But this makes more sense. Also, "vise" looks more like it would be pronounced with a bit of a "z" sound, like ad-'vise', while "vice" would have a harder "s" and sound like ad-'vice'. Gotta love linguistics!

Where he was what going to have a random match with Kane? There's lots of guys who can have a random match with Kane.

Punk should join FAN, tell us his side of the story, and join the ongoing Thomas the Tank Engine discussion If it turned out that he was a major TTTE fan growing up too, I'd be like, "Well, we've found our God."

Several years ago I watched on DVD every PPV from 2002 to 2009, the time I wasn't watching from, I 100% remember when I lost the only guy I wanted to see.

2005, there's an extra on Taboo Tuesday DVD where he's like "Thanks I'm gone now". Dammit, I edited it. Must you be a ninja? It is still a tad bit different though, since both went out properly jobbing to John Cena and Punk didn't have the pleasure of doing that one last time.

I can't say I blame Punk for this. It's obvious that his one target left in his career is a main event of Wrestlemania, & it wasn't happening this year. A match with Kane would have been a huge waste of him, while the HHH match is better suited for Daniel Bryan, considering what they have built up since August of last year. I can understand his frustrations with people like Batista coming back & winning the Rumble too, when he (& most of the roster) spent the year worker there asses off for the chance to be considered for that spot, only for one of HHH's close friends returning to be given that spot with 11 minutes of work in 4 years. It's not exactly a morale boost. I hope he comes back one day. But I feel this is the best decision for him right now, especially if he's got the health issues that he's been talking about. He doesn't need to risk his health when he can easily be tossed aside & replaced by someone else in a heartbeat. I hope this wakes up the writers & bookers in WWE to show them the error of their ways. If a top talent like Punk will walk out because of how bad the direction is, there's potential for others too. Sometimes you just need someone to take a stand, & Punk has always been the type of guy to not deal with bullshit. Take a stand on the principle that "If I can't main event I'm gong to walk out on my contract?" At a time when clearly Daniel Bryan, and not Punk, is what the fans want? It's all guesswork and projection until Punk or someone tells us what the real issues are, but I believe it bothers him that Bryan has been drinking his milkshake -- he has become the fan favorite and the IWC favorite, the former indie star that people want to see at the top of the card. I have believed that has been growing for some time. Regardless of the reasoning, it comes off as selfish and self-serving on Punk's part if it's all about him. And I don't think Batista coming back into a top spot has anything to do with being HHH's friend. It's the same scenario as Rock and Lesnar, and I don't think they were in Hunter's inner circle. Whether WWE miscalculated on Batista's popularity and the demand for him -- they did IMO -- it's not a "Hunter's friend" thing, it's a "bring back someone who has been away that (WWE believes) people will clamor for" thing. I can easily see how people would consider it selfish, but I personally don't see it that way. Punk has been working hurt & injured for the majority of the year & knows his career is likely nearing an end, especially as a full-time wrestler. He's extremely popular with all audiences - something Cena & Batista are not - & he's only second behind Bryan in overall popularity in the company. Now, we all know his main goal left in his career is a main event at Wrestlemania. I'm sure that was the goal that made him continue his work throughout the year while injured. Now that it's pretty much out of sight, he realises it's not worth the effects on his body anymore. I don't see it as selfish. I'd much prefer he leave/take some time off than not give a shit about his work & get sloppy, potentially injuring those he works with. Punk seems like a prideful person, & now he lacks the motivation I can't see it being a positive if he was to stick around just to collect a paycheck & half-ass it.

How much would you guys mark out if CM Punk pops up on IMPACT WRESTLING next week, grabs a mic and is all..."You people know who I am, but YOU DON'T...KNOW WHY...I'M HERE."

Pretty much. As someone posted earlier during one of those conventions (comic con?) he said exactly that he shows up, does what he's told to and goes home. He sounds really burnt out, and if there's no enjoyment in doing what he loves, why do it? It's been noted that he's in a great place, financially speaking. I don't think he'd care if they fired him at this point.
