--Very little on the C.M. Punk story that isn't in today's Observer. Regarding concussion stories that have been rumored today, Punk was banged up in the Royal Rumble and did take a concussion test on Monday. The test showed that he did not have a concussion and the test had nothing to do with his leaving.

AJ better watch out and be ready to defend herself, if Austin taking his ball and going home is any indication... I get making jokes and I realize it's all in fun, but damn these "AJ's gonna get beat lol" jokes are tasteless. FAN has always been the beacon for the moral high ground I suppose.

there's a huge part of me that wants to get real bummed out about punk being gone, and about bryan being screwed out of his shot at 'mania. these two guys are my all-time favorites. period.
but i can't help but be excited. cm punk is forcing the wwe's hand. daniel bryan and the people who pay to see him at shows are forcing the wwe's hand. as much as wwe is pushing to have things done their way, there's a movement to push back and i can't help but think it's going to grow stronger by the day. it's a dark time, to an extent... but i think we're on the verge of something big here. things gotta get bad before people wake up to make the change, you know?

To be honest, I knew the writing was on the wall, but I didn't expect him to miss out on WM 30. I'm a huge Punk mark, but understand that his shelf-life, as a regular wrestler, was nearing an end. Strangely enough, the only thing that has kept me from being sad about him leaving is my hope that he would go and start his own renegade federation. The guy knows the ins and outs of the business, has a lot of friends in big places and grabs the attention of mainstream media. CM Punk's Wrestling Revolution, anyone? Then imagine nabbing his buddies from the competition and we have the start of a true rival to the WWE. Book it!

Take a stand on the principle that "If I can't main event I'm gong to walk out on my contract?" At a time when clearly Daniel Bryan, and not Punk, is what the fans want? It's all guesswork and projection until Punk or someone tells us what the real issues are, but I believe it bothers him that Bryan has been drinking his milkshake -- he has become the fan favorite and the IWC favorite, the former indie star that people want to see at the top of the card. I have believed that has been growing for some time. Regardless of the reasoning, it comes off as selfish and self-serving on Punk's part if it's all about him. And I don't think Batista coming back into a top spot has anything to do with being HHH's friend. It's the same scenario as Rock and Lesnar, and I don't think they were in Hunter's inner circle. Whether WWE miscalculated on Batista's popularity and the demand for him -- they did IMO -- it's not a "Hunter's friend" thing, it's a "bring back someone who has been away that (WWE believes) people will clamor for" thing. I can easily see how people would consider it selfish, but I personally don't see it that way. Punk has been working hurt & injured for the majority of the year & knows his career is likely nearing an end, especially as a full-time wrestler. He's extremely popular with all audiences - something Cena & Batista are not - & he's only second behind Bryan in overall popularity in the company. Now, we all know his main goal left in his career is a main event at Wrestlemania. I'm sure that was the goal that made him continue his work throughout the year while injured. Now that it's pretty much out of sight, he realises it's not worth the effects on his body anymore. I don't see it as selfish. I'd much prefer he leave/take some time off than not give a shit about his work & get sloppy, potentially injuring those he works with. Punk seems like a prideful person, & now he lacks the motivation I can't see it being a positive if he was to stick around just to collect a paycheck & half-ass it. Well if he gets his way, it is selfish to take that spotlight that right now would rightfully belong to Bryan, for instance. There is an alternative: Show up every day and do your job to the best of your ability. Other people work hurt, give their best even when they might not like the way they are booked, etc. If he's legit hurt and needs time off for medical reasons, that should be something easily worked out. Look at how many people on the roster have done so. But if his health is only an issue because he's not getting his way and only wants to give an effort and show up when he's booked as the top guy in the company ... that is the very definition of selfishness. If everyone has that attitude, then only one or two people on the entire roster should be expected to work hard and have a good attitude.

Now that it's pretty much out of sight, he realises it's not worth the effects on his body anymore. I don't see it as selfish. When put that way, I agree completely. Having struggled with various chronic injuries myself, and knowing how worries about them and your future health can prey on your mind, it would seem really reckless to keep putting yourself in dangerous situations for literally no reason except that your contract doesn't end for 5 months. If he were months from achieving something he'd wanted to do for a long time, that would be worth the risk, but when there's nothing you're working toward, it wouldn't make sense. It's not even a matter of being respectable or not, since he's not what they're hanging their show on anyway. There's literally no reason... for them, for him, for anyone... for him to continue wrecking his body for another half a year if he doesn't have to or want to.

I'd like to think that Punk is now going to wander the earth looking for Kaitlyn and Maxine and all the other Divas that left before he could bang them.

Wow, I'm really slow on the news I guess. 55 pages in, and I'm just hearing about this. I dunno what to make of it yet.
I hope this story isn't true. The easiest way to lose the game is to take yourself out of it. I'm hoping this is a work. He is feuding with the "Authority" afterall. If they're playing along on twitter then I smell something fishy...

How much would you guys mark out if CM Punk pops up on IMPACT WRESTLING next week, grabs a mic and is all..."You people know who I am, but YOU DON'T...KNOW WHY...I'M HERE." I'd be quite curious to see the results of the ensuing massive lawsuit given he's still under contract until July.

I can't say I blame Punk for this. It's obvious that his one target left in his career is a main event of Wrestlemania, & it wasn't happening this year. A match with Kane would have been a huge waste of him, while the HHH match is better suited for Daniel Bryan, considering what they have built up since August of last year. I can understand his frustrations with people like Batista coming back & winning the Rumble too, when he (& most of the roster) spent the year worker there asses off for the chance to be considered for that spot, only for one of HHH's close friends returning to be given that spot with 11 minutes of work in 4 years. It's not exactly a morale boost. I hope he comes back one day. But I feel this is the best decision for him right now, especially if he's got the health issues that he's been talking about. He doesn't need to risk his health when he can easily be tossed aside & replaced by someone else in a heartbeat. I hope this wakes up the writers & bookers in WWE to show them the error of their ways. If a top talent like Punk will walk out because of how bad the direction is, there's potential for others too. Sometimes you just need someone to take a stand, & Punk has always been the type of guy to not deal with bullshit. I also think that is why he left. This is his way of getting the fans to start chanting "CM Punk" instead of "Daniel Bryan" and "Yes! Yes! Yes!"

I imagine there will be Punk chants in Chicago and Wrestlemania and the day after and next Monday and during boring parts but Bryan should remain the priority.

Vince rarely uses twitter, and Triple H and Steph are probably busy doing other things than really caring who they're following on twitter. also, WWE is a large corporation with a section in charge of the website, social media and crap like that, and it was most likely that department head that made the call to unfollow
