Right now, fans at the NXT Tapings at Full Sail are trying to hijack the show with "CM Punk" chants, and security are taking away "CM Punk" signs. Oh FFS. I hate when Security take away signs. Freedom of expression, no? No

The 30 minutes notice was crappy of him. Not least because his name was advertised for the show and a lot of people probably bought tickets to see him.

All the stories have him trying to talk to Vince all day but being refused because they were constantly re-writing the show. Not like he just walked in at 6:30, went up to Vince and told him shove it before leaving.

Freedom of expression, no? Weren't some reports in the last few months saying that they wanted to do a Summer of Punk II? If so, maybe this is how it begins. Maybe, just MAYBE if this is a work, creative learned from 2011 and are doing the opposite now... Like actually having Punk leave for more than a week. If this is scripted, possibly he returns in May and it begins. Maybe it kills two birds with one stone and it allows Punk to take some much needed time off to heal. Do I believe this? I actually don't know. I want to believe it, because I think it would actually be the only way to redo that story without feeling like the ship has sailed on that. I won't "wait and see", but since there's nothing else to do... I guess I'll just wait and see.

Unless it was a spur of the moment decision, which I doubt, there's little reason why he couldn't have told the company sooner to perhaps make plans or write him out of things. Okay he may not be happy with how things are and how he's been handled but he was given a long-ass push once upon a time, probably given lifetime financial security and all they he intended to give them was less than a few hours notice when they had a show fully booked and fully sold out to which his name would have been prominently advertised for.

I'm not sure random segment with Kane, irrelevant to anything else on the show (as CM Punk has been since September, in his own little bubble) is something too many people were really looking forward to. I would disagree that he has been a major part of the shows lately or for a long time.

If you're unhappy and want out you give notice you don't turn up at a TV taping intended to tell the boss you're not working it and going home.

The Development place (or the arena for that matter) are private property they can enforce what ever rules they wish.

I'm starting to hope they give the fans a "You guys are cast members" speech like they did in TNA.

From the report it sounded like there was a major disagreement over what they wanted him to go out and do. Ultimately we know zero details, so I guess it's inevitable you'll bend your typical way and I'll bend mine, this discussion not really being very productive.

No he turned up on the day of a TV taping to say "bye". In any walk of life that's unacceptable. You have either contractual or moral obligations to your employers. I couldn't pitch-up Monday morning and say "actually, no....thanks for the memories", I'd have financial consequence but also I'd have a moral obligation to let my boss know I wanted to go so arrangements could be made. He allowed himself to do the thing wth Kane for weeks with no indication to anyone senior that he'd bolt. Only at the Rumble the night before did he agree to work a spot with Kane. If he knew he was going why? Whilst not exactly a 'victim' Kane is left high and dry now too. Presumaby the two had spoken about it, worked out what they wanted to do and all the time Punk knew he had no intention of seeing it through. That's pretty crappy. It's unfair on fellow talent, unfair on the company and unfair on fans. IMO it's just another example of it being because of who it is rather than what he did as to why he's being defended.

So does anyone here genuinely think this is the end of CM Punk and WWE? Because I don't at all, which makes this HUGE NEWS-MAKING EVENT (68 pages!!) seem less earth-shattering. Austin returned after he walked out. Punk re-signed after the Pipebomb and returned soon after MITB 2011. Bryan was re-signed just months after his release. I just don't see how this is a big deal yet. Am I just too cynical or jaded or blind to something else? I'm not calling this a work, I am just saying that it's tough to feel awed by it when I figure Punk will be back in no time at all. I have seen retrospectives of Punk's WWE career written and dramatic Photoshops made, and it just feels so premature--tempest in a teacup kind of stuff until some time passes or we have more information. Thing is, though, absolutely no one saw this coming. I mean, when has a big name like Punk ever straight up walked out during Wrestlemania season?
