I like to imagine the meeting with Vince went something like: "Punk, listen, we're taking you out of your featured match at Mania and unfor..." "OUT"

That gif makes it seem like Mick just went f***ing crazy, even moreso than the actual video.

If this is really it, there's something poetically fitting about CM Punk's final moments in WWE being him putting over that young up-'n-comer Kane.

But seriously...who would have thought things would be THIS disappointing after Summerslam. I mean, shit...I had my massive doubts, but it's as if WWE decided to go for overkill in terms of destroying ANY interest I can have. Punk might be gone, Bryan went from beating Cena clean and looking like he was going to vanquish The Authority and win the title at Mania to that going to Batista, at least Bryan will face Triple H, and Cena went from main eventing back to back Manias against The Rock (2 highest grossing Manias of all time), to what looks like a Mania program with Bray Wyatt (I like Bray, but that is a huge step down). At least there's still The Shield being booked perfectly.

To be honest, how demoralizing must it be for guys like Punk and really everyone on the roster? You work your ass off the entire year just hoping you can get on the Mania card, Punk gets to a point where he looks to finally cross off his final two goals(win the rumble and main event Mania) both of those things are off the table because a guy who hasn't wrestled in four years returns... That sucks. Assuming Batista never came back, Punk still doesn't deserve to be in the main event over Daniel Bryan. Never said he did. But Punk losing out on main eventing to Bryan would definitely go over better than Batista. Not only with fans(obviously) but in the locker room as well.

Also, I love that the last of CM Punk we ever saw was a shirtless, gloveless, Corporate Kane pulling him out of the ring and slamming him through the Spanish Announce Table into obscurity.

A few days ago I was legitimately excited for the WWE's future. Now things are shaping up to be an absolute trainwreck of a year. I don't think I'll be able to look away, though.

I liked Punk, but if he walked, I can't be too upset. Hopefully, there's a silver lining in Punk leaving.
1.). Punk owns the rights to his name, right? If he isn't retiring from wrestling altogether, he can go anywhere he wants with his name. He could easily go back to RoH and "give back" to that promotion by giving them a rub and elevating their prestige a bit. 2.) Punk leaving hopefully leaves space in the main event for Daniel Bryan, and ideally that has a residual effect of everyone below him getting bumped up slightly as well.

That sucks. i always go back to how punk presents it in his documentary: you build all year towards wrestlemania, and when the time comes to book your main event at the biggest show of the year, you take the guy that's the most hated and the guy that's the most loved and you have them headline the show. as far as babyfaces go, not only are cm punk and daniel bryan the most consistently popular guys this past year, but they're two of the most overwhelmingly loved guys in ages. EVERYBODY loves these two. you go to almost any arena in the world and the crowds are 100% cm punk and 100% daniel bryan. but when it comes time for wrestlemania, who do we give the marquee spots to? batista -- a guy who disappeared for four years, makes his return in mediocre shape, and is already booed out of buildings in under a week? the rock -- a draw, sure, but a draw who comes in for a handful of dates per year, delivers incredibly boring matches, takes the spotlight and the money, and is right back out the door? even full-time guys like john cena and randy orton aren't universally loved or hated; they get reactions, but if we're talking about overall support, it's punk & bryan who have entire arenas chanting their names in unison. every night. all year. punk gets flack here and there for his views on things, and the way he reportedly conducts himself, but i'm fully behind him, especially in situations like this. you can't blame the guy. you dedicate your entire year (life) to something and the company you work for throws you around and leaves you with the scraps left after all these undeserving hacks come in and take everything away... it's ridiculous.

True, thoh as someone who hasn't liked Punk in years, he deserves it a hell of a lot more than Batista does.

This is a guy that hasn't had a problem putting anyone over, has refused ending the streak, and we haven't heard anything about him playing politics. Something tells me Punk doesn't mind working with Kane.

I'm just wondering if Punk is going to make a one time retirement match appearance at Payback during June?

When Austin left, fans sided with the WWE.
I just don't think that will happen this time. Fans are furious at the product. If anything, people will chant "CM Punk" for a few weeks

He's more or less commenting on the WWE not pushing anyone new, and doing the same things over and over

If memory serves, Punk can't use his name until his contract expires. Though given how beat-up he is and that he was planning on leaving anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if he just retires.

This makes me think, too.
Will this jeopardize Punk's lock for the HoF?
