Catherine for 360 and ps3 Parasite Eve BloodRayne 1 and 2 Eternal DarknessJust to name a few. I'm going to have to disagree on Eternal Darkness. It's always rated very highly by people. Then again, this thread is about personal opinions... What's your argument for it being underrated? I'm curious.

Phantasy Star 3 is also great. It has a fantastic story and an awesome soundtrack.

Gunstar Heroes and Final Fantasy X-2. I don't really think of Gunstar Heroes as underrated. It's one of the most acclaimed run-and-game games ever made.

Mirrors Edge: Just a extremely fun game yet, doesn't seem all that popular, received average reviews and never spawned a sequel. Disaster Report/SOS: I really enjoyed this. It's a survival adventure game set in a city after an earthquake and has a pretty good plot. Disaster Report is an awesome game. I hadn't played anything like it, and would love to play it again if I had my PS2 anymore. I always really wanted to play it after seeing it in a magazine but I could never find a copy.

Final Fantasy X-2: Fun battle system, fun job system, fun characters. Just a fun game. The soundtrack is interesting as well. There's some annoying music, but there's also some really good stuff, too.
Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits: Battle system, characters, and music is all good. The fact you switched between the humans and the deimos was really interesting as well, and keeps it fresh.
King Kong (PS2): One of the best FPS games I've played, no joke.
Smackdown VS. Raw 2006: The best of the PS2 wrestling games, imo.
Final Fantasy V: The characters especially are underrated. My favourite of the 2D FFs.

Then again, this thread is about personal opinions... What's your argument for it being underrated? I'm curious. I just never really hear it get mentioned among the greats. Anytime I see a list of top 10 or 20 or 30 games...it's never on there. These are just the lists I've seen over the years and I always wondered if it was on GC and not a great number of people played it or what? It just strikes me as odd.

StarTropics: One of the best games on the NES. Fun gameplay, great/quirky story, and very memorable characters. It also had a pretty good sequel. Then nothing. It's absolutely criminal that nothing more has been done with this series. I don't think that it's even had a trophy in Super Smash Bros. It's simply an amazing game. Nintendo could do so much more with this even today. Crystalis: Best Action RPG on the NES--hands down. Tremendous story, fun gameplay, and unique characters and settings. It was a unique post-apocalyptic RPG with a Fantasy setting. It absolutely deserves a modern remake. The Adventures of Link: Yes, it's a member of the most critically acclaimed series of all time. That being said, it's probably the most underrated entry in the series and it's generally regarded as the black sheep. The gameplay is very fun and challenging. It has great music. Graphically it's a huge step-up from LoZ. It's just a very fun, interesting game. The style needs a sequel. I think another attempt at the style could work well on the 3DS as an attempt at Legend of Zelda style Metroidvania. You read my mind. Those three are easily some of the best games for NES, especially Crystalis which should have a much larger library of sequels. I'll add Deja Vu. Another wonderful classic.

Blade Runner on the PC never gets as much love as it should. A gripping spin-off of the movie story (with multiple endings), excellent voice acting, and superb Vangelis-style soundtrack. The graphics were a little dated even when it came out, but I lost many hours playing it.

Hunter: The Reckoning. I played through that game dozens of times. Just a great multi-player hack and slash that was so much fun.
Clive Barker's Jericho... Now I want to be clear here, the gameplay was ridiculously flawed but the story and some of the gameplay ideas were pretty good. I guess I'd say it was more a missed opportunity than underrated.
Arkham Origins. I find myself defending this game way more than I expected to after finishing it.
Wrestlemania 2000. I don't really know if it's underrated but it never seems to get mentioned on the same level as No Mercy.

Headhunter on the PS2 and Dreamcast. The story and the game world are awesome in a f***ed up but also sorta funny kinda way. The gameplay is fun and the soundtrack is badass. One of my favourite games ever.

Im surprised to hear so many mentions of New Vegas, as I thought it was fairly highly regarded.

Stormlord - Extremely challenging fantasy-themed platform/puzzle game. I have the Genesis version, and I still break it out from time to time.
Violent Storm - A rare unlicensed Konami beat-'em-up that got lost in the sea of Final Fight clones in the early '90s. A blast to play, with crazy post-nuke character/stage designs, and a catchy soundtrack.
Scorched Earth - Old shareware game that was sort of a precursor to Angry Birds, only with nuclear-armed tanks!
Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening - The first Zelda game for the Game Boy. The original, Link to the Past, and Ocarina of Time get all the love, but this one is my personal favorite in the series.

I am all for people saying good things about New Vegas regardless though. My vote is for Nier. No one ever talks about it, but it is one hell of an emotional rollercoaster with a memorable cast of characters and an amazing score.

I enjoyed Alpha Protocol and thought it had one of the best conversation styles I've seen in a video game... but when it was released it was a broken mess. This is unfortunately the story with the last few Obsidian games. Their track record is not good and (especially in the case of Alpha Protocol) can ruin games. New Vegas doesn't work properly even now.

HOnestly, I didn't have any problems with New Vegas (although I got the GOTY edition, so the biggest glitches might have been fixed by then). The only time I had problems with Fallout 3 was when I tried to do the Mothership expansion.

Shadow of Destiny on PS2. An interesting take on time travel and one of the first games to be an "interactive movie" IMO.

Hunter: The Reckoning. I played through that game dozens of times. Just a great multi-player hack and slash that was so much fun. That feeling when I find someone else on the planet who played Hunter. I wish they'd make another one, that universe is so ripe for video game adaptations. This might be a weird one, but Mass Effect 3 is a little underrated. The ending is absolutely disgusting in how terrible and unsatisfying it is, but I think people were really unfair towards the other 99.9% of the game because of how upset they were. And that's a shame, because the game is really, really good. Terraria should have the mainstream appeal that Minecraft has, in my opinion. It has the same draw of building whatever you want, but it's also a great videogame.

I know there was at least a rerelease with a new character...

Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines Final Fantasy 8 had the bad luck of following up 7 I think if there had been an actual ending I would've like Knights of the Old Republic 2 more than the first (though I guess the ending was only the tip of the ice berg of things they forgot or couldn't get put in,)
