My pick is Orion: Prelude. The game is rated around the 30s on Metacritic but it's been rebuilt from the ground up multiple times and is one of THE best online team games you will ever play. I'll throw in Alien vs Predator for the Xbox 360 too, sure, it didn't compare to AvP2 on the PC, but the hate it got made me think it'd be Alien: Colonial Marines bad. Me and a friend picked it up and the Predator mode is like playing as a violent Zelda game, the Alien game is like being on a bizarre rattly rollercoaster, and the weak marine game is just a bog standard shooter. Not a bad game in the slightest, and enjoyable. Bioshock 2 - loads of people seem to think this game sucks, but anything would seem like it's shitty compared to the first one, which might be the greatest game ever made. ANYTHING would be a step down. In its own right, it's a very, very good game, just not a classic. Honestly, I feel Bioshock 1 is one of the most frustrating games to play in retrospect, Bioshock 2 in terms of combat & gunplay is phenomenal, and Minerva's Den is a much better story overall. The constant glitchiness of trying to hack a shocked bot or camera or gun only to use eve, having to switch between using plasmids and physical weapons, and the level design being so cramped (intentionally) with rather loose controls...one of the reasons I really struggled to care about the game initially. Bioshock 2 fixed all of that -with a lesser story outside of the DLC- and Bioshock Infinite managed to open the map up which made me realize that Bioshock's gunplay worked in a Quake type way, you need to be in a big space for it to work well. Great series though, I'm just absurdly picky as I was a fan of System Shock 1&2, again, both of those games had control errors but the modding community fixed those (adding mouse capability to the first game = godsend) whereas that never happened for Bioshock 1.

Vib Ribbon (PS1) The Wonderful 101 (Wii U) Road Rash (Genesis/Mega Drive) Mirrors Edge: Just a extremely fun game yet, doesn't seem all that popular, received average reviews and never spawned a sequel. At E3 earlier this year, EA showed off some footage of DICE talking about and working on Mirrors Edge 2. So there is a sequel coming, whether it comes out before EA says "Not enough Mountain Dew DLC! Cancelled!!!" is another.

Lightning Returns: Great battle system, job system was cool, the time limit was exciting, Lumina.
Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis: Why hasn't this had a sequel, yet?
Tales of Xillia 2: Thought it was gonna be dissapointing going by reviews, but it's been a lot of fun. One of the main complaints was the debt takes up too much time, but by the time I have to pay up, I almost have enough gald, anyway, so it's not like I'm grinding for HOURS before I can continue with the story. Who knows what these reviewers were doing.

It's gotten a bit of a revival movement in recent years (there's even new active multiplayer servers now) but I think Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, besides having a metal as f*** title is one of the best examples of both first person melee fighting and tactical use of the game enviroment ever made. I firmly believe that without Dark Messiah there would be no Chivalry, no Mount and Blade, no Shadow Warrior and maybe not even the Demon's/Dark Souls series.

My go to response for a question like this is Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective for the DS. Things can get confusing, and certain levels (like the f***ing prison break puzzle) are infuriating, but if you look beyond those issues what you'll find is a fantastic mystery from the guys who gave us the Phoenix Wright series. Got a pretty kickin' soundtrack as well.

NeoGeo Battle Coliseum: it was Capcom Fighting Evolution/Jam done right. Unlike that game, NeoGeo Battle Coliseum has a very diverse roster of SNK characters, along with good mechanics, and the obligatory SNK bosses.
Virtua Fighter 3: The Dreamcast port could have been so much better, but the gameplay is good as always.
Naruto: Rise of a Ninja was a pretty good game. Fighting was pretty fun, and I liked how you did jutsus with both analog sticks. Story Mode was decent. Great effort from Ubisoft.

I was going to say Alpha Protocol but so many people have said it here and in other underrated games threads that I guess it's not all that underrated.

I throw some in the list, The Punisher for PS2 and Rescue: The Embassy Mission for the NES. Granted the later was a short game, you could beat it in 10 minutes, it has a nostalgic feel to me. I probably rented it once a month, and bought it when my Blockbuster was phasing out their NES rentals to clear room for the 16 bit systems.

I've always had a soft spot for Beatdown: Fists Of Vengeance.
It's not that I think it's underrated, really, it's more of a guilty pleasure situation.
I kinda mark for games that have an identity crisis, you know? Like they're so all over the place that they don't do any of it slick.
If you've never played it, it's a beat-em-up, it's a fighter, there's rudimentary character customization, you level up and learn moves and combos, there's a system in which you can gain information, extort money and unlock certain things via an in-fight dialogue minigame and it all takes place in such a wonky, ridiculous World that I can't help but like it.

NES-- The Lone Ranger.. I guess I dont know if its really underrated, more that I never see it talked about ever. When I was a kid the first-person cave levels scared the hell out of me.
SNES-- Secret of Mana.
PS2- INDIGO PROPHECY.

GI Joe on NES is the greatest platformer/action game no one ever remembers or plays, or has played. It is a genuinely excellent game that has been totally lost to time. Great bosses, great level design, cool weapons, lots of depth for a Nintendo game, etc. It's a gem.

OK long as hell list but here we go.... Startropics: Amazing yet very hard NES game. This game should be talked about when NES greats come to the conversation. I think what Zelda II should have been, speaking of.... Zelda II: Doesn't deserve the hate it gets. I think people hate on it because it's nothing like Zelda 1. Get pass that and it's one of the best games on the NES. Just look at it as NES Darksouls. The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap: Honestly I would put this in the same breath as ALTTP. Feels like the final retro portable Zelda game to me and you know what, it's damn near flawless. The Bigs 2: Amazingly fun arcade style baseball game. A total blast with friends. Star Wars Battlefront 2: Another game that's good on its own but flat out AMAZING with friends. This game needs to get a sequel or remade to have online play. Metroid Fusion: Everyone will say Super Metroid is the best of them all but I think this is the best in the series. Good story, fun gameplay, and amazing atmosphere. Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch: The fact that I've seen multiple copies of this in clearance for under $10 is a crime in itself. A really good and colorful RPG. If you have a PS3 and see this on the cheep, get it. Super Mario Galaxy 2: It feels like everyone I talk to about this game talks about how awful it is and I can't understand why. Bigger, and more fun then the first game imo. Super Paper Mario: A mix of classic 2D Mario platforming and the RPG and wacky story elements of Paper Mario. Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed: This is pretty much if there was a current gen Diddy Kong Racing. Really fun game and I love how it's pretty much the Sega Smash Bros. Spiderman 2: Fun and very open over world, tons of missions and replay value, and all of this and you are swinging around as Spiderman. What more do you want? Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3: I understand it's kind of a different beast then the first 2 MK games but I like it more. Advance Wars: Days of Ruin AW2 is the best but this one is always overlooked. Columns: SEGA's attempt at a Tetris clone but a really fun old school puzzle game. Donkey Kong Country 3: Pretty much everyone will tell you DKC2 is the best but I feel like my favorite one is always changes between 2 and 3. Love the levels and atmosphere in DKC3, but I will admit, I'm not a fan of Kiddy Kong and it's just hard to go back after having Diddy and Dixie. Timesplitters 2 and Timesplitters Future Perfect: Timesplitters 2 is pretty much if Goldeneye came out on the PS2. Fun old school FPS. Get Timesplitters 2 for the mutiplayer, but get Timesplitters Future Perfect for the single player campaign. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks 007: Nightfire and Grandia II are underrated.

Spiderman 2: Fun and very open over world, tons of missions and replay value, and all of this and you are swinging around as Spiderman. What more do you want? Spider-Man 2 underrated? I disagree. I keep hearing that it's the one of the best Spider-Man games ever.

DuckTales was the shit. This is indisputable fact. That said, it reels in almost all of the praise for Capcom's Disney NES titles.
Because of this, the greatness that was Chip 'n' Dale's Rescue Rangers and Darkwing Duck (granted both were modified Mega Man engines) are greatly overlooked and TaleSpin, one of the most creative (but difficult) shoot-'em-ups of its day, rarely gets any praise.
And as great as those three other games are, Adventures in the Magic Kingdom, perhaps the greatest Disney title of the bunch, is almost never mentioned.
