Unfortunately the shock of the streak ending was spoiled for me by TalkSport (who'd a thunk it!) but I was fairly suprised at how poor the match was (and how bad the commentary was - i'm not altogether sure what they were trying to achieve). Regardless of whether you think the streak needed to be beaten or not, if the decision was taken to end it, having it get taken on a barnstormer of a match should have been the end goal. Maybe it was just one year too far......Undertaker looked broken from the get go......

I wasn't angry or upset at the result, I was just legitimately shocked, which happens rarely nowadays. I kept waiting for someone's music to hit or for someone to come out and come up with a pretense for restarting but even as I was doing that I was thinking "But how would they restart? It was a clean finish."
I can only assume that it was Taker's idea to end it, I can't imagine them ending the streak if he wasn't cool with it.

I'm sure somebody's already said this but....Austin didnt give the rub to a younger guy in his career-ending match either.

The upside to my job is, by now, I'm on such cruise control.... I had all day to reflect on Wrestlemania.
One thing I came to was, the reaction this got. The fact the crowd was stunned silent and there was just a parade of shocked faces everywhere people watched it.... that just shows it was the right time to end it.
You want to go out with people caring that it ended. You keep it going for a few years, and you're gonna start seeing people cheering the person who wants to end the streak because people just want it done. Then the three count brings about a sigh of relief more than anything.
Undertaker didn't look good last night, but I do think that was at least, partially, by design. The video package they kept showing blatantly said that time was running out on Undertaker, how every match has taken more from him, and how the end was near. If not with Brock, with someone soon.
I'm not going to go full-on apologist either.... at Undertaker's age, with the amount of injuries he had, with the style he's always had for a guy his size... it's a miracle he's still walking, let alone willing to put on matches. Since his return as the Deadman and when he stopped going on the road and became a special Wrestlemania attraction, he was probably in the best shape of his career. But, no matter what... time IS going to catch up to you. Your workout regimen will not yield the same results and you'll find more and more things you just physically can't do. Unfortunately, Undertaker's entire gimmick is that he defies all logical sensibilities when it comes to pain management to the point of being beyond human. In a way, I think Mark feels his increasing immobility is a slap in the face to the gimmick, so he ignores it and ignores it, but eventually... you just can't ignore it any longer.
I can see maybe one more match. If not against Sting, maybe one final match against Brock to finally get his win... to "prove he still has it" then walks away.
But, personally, I want him to be done. Old-school rules say you go out on your back. Flair's last match is debatable... because he still wrestled after his retirement match, just not under WWE's watch. But Michaels lost his final match, Austin lost his final match, it's just what you do... and while I really dislike the fact that Brock is undefeated against the Undertaker, I think this is how Undertaker feels "right" about this.
Despite the injuries, despite how he must feel physically.... the look in his eyes after the match (Okay, beyond the concussion) really looked like "Finally, it's over." I have a feeling, as shitty as he felt physically.... it was probably the happiest he has felt in a long time.

![](http://i0.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/000/726/152/a3e.png) In all seriousness, a huge shock to me as I was one of those who thought the Streak would never end. Credit where credit's due though, I'm really interested to see where it'll go now.

The fact that Daniel Bryan managed to wake up the crowd for the main event after the most shocking thing in WWE history shows that Bryan is the real deal, as if we needed to know.

I'm sure somebody's already said this but....Austin didnt give the rub to a younger guy in his career-ending match either. And neither did Flair or Michaels. People talk about giving your guys the rub when someone retires, it hasn't happened lately.

f*** it. So disappointed that a pretty slow and boring match ended like that. But the sheer insanity and shock value of it kind of saved it. The reactions in the crowd just sold how insane the moment actually was. The streak is over. f***. I disagree. The Streak ending didn't save the match, IMO. The match was just to slow and boring for me to care about the Streak being broken. Still believe Daniel Bryan should have ended the Streak.

I'm sure somebody's already said this but....Austin didnt give the rub to a younger guy in his career-ending match either. That's a pretty common trend. Austin jobbed to Rock, Michaels jobbed to Taker, Flair jobbed to Michaels, Hogan (if you count his TNA run as his final match) jobbed to Sting, Taker jobbed to Lesnar, etc. The "give a young guy the rub on the way out" stuff hasn't applied to anyone recently. Jericho and Foley job to anyone with a pulse, so their jobs mean nothing, but the guys who actually went out protecting themselves usually lost to big established stars.

Yeah, they all wore the same face that I did for that whole extended amount of time between the 3-count and Lesnars music. One of the all time great WTF moments in wrestling.

WWE really did milk the moment. They did not play Lesnar's theme until minutes after he beat Taker.

EVERYONE was just shocked beyond belief. Gotta know what happens after this.

Injury now official:
WWE.com can confirm that, following last's night historic match with Brock Lesnar, The Undertaker was immediately taken to Ochsner Medical Center. After a CT scan and other medical testing, he was diagnosed with a severe concussion and was kept overnight for further evaluation. He was discharged early Monday afternoon.

Revelations 21:1:
"Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband.…"
Not trying to start anything religously-minded, just found it an interesting passage number.

I'm sure somebody's already said this but....Austin didnt give the rub to a younger guy in his career-ending match either. A lot of people didn't know it was Austin's last match IIRC. Besides, the streak is on a whole other scale.
