Yeah, DC's making Dick Grayson a spyWhy, why the f*** won't DC budge from this shit that superheroes can't be fun, and trying to tear down the characters that completely go against the f***ing anti-hero movement they're still trying to bring back? At this point I'd settle for another reset of everything that brings back the fun.

Earth 3 are where the Crime Syndicate is from... as seen in the DC animated movie Crisis on two earths and a number of other places
Kind of figured they'd have to have stop being Nightwing with him being revealed to the world... but... if his face is known wouldn't that make spying hard?
(though I'm sure Batman has redundancy's with that for Nightwing... or you know just say the Crime Syndicate lied because they're assholes... whatever)

Some point soon they've got to realize this current model is doing them no favors, and is only helping Marvel.

DC's biggest pop culture impact in the last decade was a dark and gritty adaptation of their top character... So now everything must be that way.
I don't get that logic. It's stupid stupid stupid. It's one thing if they were pushing this aesthetic only with their movies but I can't understand why it affects their comic books. That's supposed to be the playground, the medium where you can have all these different tones, characters and concepts co-exist under the same umbrella. It just doesn't make sense to me.

One last question for anyone that might know.
Was the Nightwing comic not selling well? Is this the reason for the "reboot" of his persona? If so I can partially see why they might do it, but then again it might just piss the remaining people off that were buying it and they retcon the whole thing in a year for worse sales.
If this is just "cause we wanted to change the character" and that's the only reason....here's me flipping the bird at that idea and....wait a minute....here it comes....yeah here's the other hand flipping the bird too.
edit cause I can't spell worth a damn.

As far as I can remember, Nightwing's solo series was a pretty big hit at DC. Then again, so was Wally West's ongoing Flash series and... yeah. I still think Didio has it out for the original Teen Titans.

For some reason, Didio despises Nightwing. As they were putting together Infinite Crisis, Didio was hellbent on killing off Dick Grayson. Thankfully Geoff Johns and everyone else involved talked him out of it.

Dan DiDio goes jogging "On your left" says the entirety of Marvel They aren't exactly innocent within the realm of their comics, either. They pull dumb stunts all the time, too. Granted, not DC stupid, but stupid nonetheless.

Now if this was fun, ladykilling Dick Grayson as James Bond, that I could get behind.
I always figured Dick is DC's Spider-man in that we've seen him grow from sidekick to new hero to established hero as he's gotten older as we saw Peter go from teenage newbie, growing up, becoming a respected hero, even an Avenger, got married etc.
Too bad we can't have linear paths and growth.

I have not read DC since this new 52 thing started, and I don't think I want to.

Well, at least he's not dead.
I mean physically, not "to the rest of the world."
Really, he'll re-encounter Batgirl or somebody by #12. Then be back as Nightwing by the end of the decade.
On a positive note: Tim Seeley and Mikel Janin? *&^%ing sold, son.

It sort of makes sense in context, especially if you read Batman Inc where Spiral was introduced. Bats will apparently encourage Dick to join up with them, probably just to see if he can somehow track down Sprial operative and former Batwoman Kathy Kane (who killed Talia at the end of Inc) and keep tabs on her.
