I must be the only man on these FAN boards that likes DC more than Marvel. Well it fluctuates from time to time but still. I'm a hardcore DC Comics guy, but since the New 52 the fun has been sucked out of DC. For some reason they're stuck on the Nineties Anti-Hero, and don't want superheroes to have fun, joy, or be beacons of hope. Batman '66 is awesome, and fun, but that's not part of the main continuity.

Bruh... I tell ya, in about five years when this is all rebooted out of continuity we're gonna look back on this shit and laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh... Hell, I do that now. Everything since they rebooted to New 52 that I see posted here or anywhere else is usually : "Hahahahah...wait, that's real? BWAHAHAHAHA"

I have to be honest, I abandoned ship on new Big Two comics after Brubaker left Captain America. I just really didn't care anymore; there's no joy in any of the books to me, so I read other stuff/back issues.

Yeah, the big 2 do seem to be taking a pretty big no joy stance.... and have been for a while.

Plus, it's probably a function of me both getting old and having read comics for thirty years, but, I've seen everything multiple times over. Deaths, universes threatened, crossovers, over and over again. I already own the best previous examples over the decades, the new versions don't resonate to me at all anymore.
The books themselves seem designed to a)strip mine their own histories for an increasingly shrinking and aging audience and b)provide content for potential other mediums and that's all.
That's depressing to say, but it seems to be true.

If you ask me, I wouldn't be surprised if Disney gutted Marvel comics and limited their releases to what is directly related to movie properties. Though, I'd see that happening sooner with Warner Bros. and DC since they don't even have the excuse of providing potential content for other mediums since...again the only shit they don't sabotage is Batman and they've got tons of stories to mine for that already.

Morrison's Multiversity is finally coming out this year and DC is releasing a 52-esque story entitled Future's End which seems to be hinting at a Crisis looming. The teaser image has red skies abundant.

I think it's possible for good stand-alone stories to be made nowadays, but keeping up with universes seems pointless anymore. Either everything's too convoluted or it's all being wiped out in an effort to simplify (which doesn't really work).

Yeah, I can get with that. If you give me say a tpb sized story of Spidey, Superman, whatever that's stand-alone, I would still read that.

Problem was they didn't know or didn't care about what and how to retcon outside of their little Silver Age fantasies.

I want to see how this plays out until I make a stance on it.
I think Grayson is a strong enough character to last on his own outside the Batman universe, so it might be nice to see him further distanced from his mentor.
Also, I like the new 52, and I'll fight anyone who tells me I shouldn't.
