I'm just waiting for the eventually Pens/Flyers Winter Classic in Beaver Stadium. That's going to be amazing. I am actually shocked this never happened. Of all the Bettman Seven Teams Philly and Pittsburgh have the best rivalry and both cities would sell out both of their football stadiums quickly and easily break the attendance record in beaver stadium. I think a lot of it has to do with selling alcohol at the stadium and knowing this state's liquor laws that's a pretty big hurdle to pass but It's going to happen eventually. Way too much money to be made. |

It meant I could openly root for him because he was a hell of a goalie; secretly one of my favorites growing up. |

Giguere is announcing retirement next Thursday. There goes the last active player who has played for the Whalers In honor of this sad fact: Also, I was really happy when Giggy left Anaheim. It meant I could openly root for him because he was a hell of a goalie; secretly one of my favorites growing up. I sort of felt the same way towards Kipper and Iginla. Not strongly as you felt but I respected both of those players. |

As a hockey fan, this is the least excited I've been for a season in years.
The regular season feels less and less meaningful now that the Kings have proven that they are literally only built for the spring. If it's all about spring, does the winter matter?
This new Rogers contract is confusing and I don't know what it's gonna mean.
I don't like this new playoff format- it eliminates two fun things about the playoffs (intraconference first and second round matchups and an all-divisional conference finals).

So 4 more teams in 2017 is a possibility? Las Vegas, Seattle, Toronto, and Quebec City. Thoughts?
I would just move Phoenix to Seattle and Florida to Quebec City. Or hell just move Florida to Seattle right away so you have 15 teams in the West and 15 teams in the East right away. I would rather have Houston, Portland, Kansas City, Milwaukee, Indianapolis, Hartford, Cleveland, or Salt Lake City then Las Vegas that's for sure. I just think it's a bad idea to add four more teams when there are some franchises that are really struggling like Florida or Phoenix and Phoenix will probably relocate in 4 more years anyways (that's when the owners relocation clause kicks in). Plus Las Vegas is just banking on Canadian tourists and other tourists to see their games on cheap tickets for revenue I really doubt they can build a solid fanbase within the city. Basically what Phoenix and Florida is already doing granted the new arena is inside the strip and not in the outskirts.
It kind of makes sense to have a second franchise in Toronto since they are building a new arena in Markham and Maple Leaf tickets are expensive as hell and almost impossible to get. Hell it's almost to get impossible into a Maple Leafs game right after work unless you get work off early or live or work around downtown Toronto anyways. Good luck driving your car in the Air Canada Center parking lot. The Canadian in me rather have it in Hamilton or somewhere else but either or it makes sense.
Edit: The more I think about it Portland really deserves an NHL team the most of any Western US city outside of Seattle. They love the Winter Hawks there and Portland would have a natural rivarly with Seattle and Vancouver. Hell it makes the Pacific Division well actually Pacific.

I would say yes because being a Maple Leafs fan is extremely frustrating (really only one divisional title since 1967). They've been terrible or mediocre for years on top of that they are the most expensive team to be a fan of and almost impossible to attend a game too even if you can afford it. Plus Toronto now is a way way way way different city then it was in the past. It's possibly the most unique diverse major city in North America with 48% of the population being Immigrants born from another Country. It's also a reason why The Raptors and The Bluejays are getting slightly bit more popular then they were 10 years ago (Blue Jays popularity peaked when they were a back to back World Series winning team). Also Toronto's sport culture has this really weird elitist individual fanbase mentality that you can only be a major fan of one team and that's it. You're either a Blue Jays fan, A Raptors Fan, a Toronto FC Fan, or a Maple Leafs Fan. Apparently the joke is there isn't a lot of major hardcore Argo fans in Toronto lol. Sure it's a minority of Toronto's sports culture but it's weird it's something I haven't really ever seen before. I guess this attitude thing also exists in NY, Boston, Chicago, etc. But yeah it'll work. Having a team in Markham makes it a lot easier for people living in all the other Toronto suburbs of Brampton, Vaughan, Mississauga, etc to attend games. Hell it would make it a hell lot easier from people to Hamilton to attend games to Markham then Toronto. A lot a lot easier. It would only take them about an hour to get to the game rather then like 2 or 3 hours to get into the Air Canada Center. Basically there is a good chance the second Toronto team would become Hamilton's team. |

I still think all of those cities minus Las Vegas will get a NHL franchise in the future. I don't see Phoenix still having a team in four more years and the owners moving the team to Seattle ASAP. Plus Gretzky is trying to get hockey in Seattle and he was an early owner of the Coyotes so he has some connections I'm sure. I won't be surprised if Florida relocates to Quebec and I can see the new Toronto team playing in the Western Conference so Maple Leafs fans have a second team to root for. But seriously Las Vegas? Like I think they'll do better then Florida or Phoenix but Las Vegas really? |

NHL 15 has a demo up on PS4. Holy cow the lighting and the physics. Puck physics are crazy and a lot of fun.
Won my first game 6-1 Kings over Rangers. Got an incredible redirect goal, hit lundqvist, hit Dustin Brown, hit Slava Voynov, then Brown hacked it in.
