New bosses, same old Oilers. Amazing how Coyotes shot 27 shots in one period. Then again this is the exact defense lines Eakins used. Like Hunt and Schultz are the worst defensive pairing according to all the advanced stats that would cause Tyler Dellow a headache. Oh wait I forgot The Oilers practically bought him out so he won't tweet negative shit about them and not use any his advice like you know recalling our best defensive prospect and second best defenseman from the minors and not mistreating him like garbage. I was hoping Dubnyk would shut the Oilers in front of MacTavish while giving him the finger while Gagner is pointing and laughing at him and the bench

MacT and Nelson's five forward line-up is truly groundbreaking stuff. And in order for them to use Dellow's advice, they'd have to actually understand what he's telling them.

To be fair I think this is a master plan of getting Justin Schultz, Yakupov, Petry, Marincin a crappy contract in their contract years. Nah I'm giving them too much credit and Petry is actually talented an UFA. Seriously watching Chipchura dancing around the Oilers WHEN HE WAS ON WAIVERS LAST WEEK makes me mad considering how terrible the center depth is. OMFG HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA WITH 0.3 seconds left and Gagner with the assist

I have a feeling we'll be seeing 'Nelson face' quite a bit.

Longest shootout in NHL history tonight. They actually went through all the shooters that were possible to go. Honestly why don't they allow the goalies to take a shot? It'd be soooooooooooooo fun.

Rangers won 5-2 over the Flames. Rick Nash had 2 goals, giving him 20 for the season for the 11th straight season.

Aw, the Oklahoma City Barons are ceasing operations after this season due to low attendance. I was hoping they would succeed. They had a pretty strong start but I knew it wouldn't be forever when the attendance actually decreased during the lockout season

Aw, the Oklahoma City Barons are ceasing operations after this season due to low attendance. I was gonna mention this since this would impact both you and SuperSweet, since Edmonton was OKC's affiliate. But if it makes you feel any better, I can see an ECHL franchise move in and revive the Blazers. There's more local opponents, like Tulsa, Wichita, and Allen, plus they'd be a better fit for the Cox Convention Center. God, this year has SUCKED if you're an Oilers fan. Only my Hurricanes have been more inept. Also, who still calls Arizona "Phoenix" out of habit?

Only my Hurricanes have been more inept. Also, who still calls Arizona "Phoenix" out of habit? Well it makes more sense to move them in Bakersfield since they draw well and they are closer to the other Pacific Western Conference Teams I'll let Jason Gregor sum it up best: Honestly last year felt way worse then this year. Like Krueger seemed to improved the Oilers and they got better on paper and Eakins came in with tons of hype that I bought in. Like seriously he said all the right things in the off season. Then they somehow got worse, MacTavish refused to fire him, and it seemed like Lowe and MacTavish and all the other cronies won't be going anywhere. Like honestly last year ranks up there with the 2006-2007 Oilers as worst season ever. This season I didn't expect much with Eakins coaching, I just had no idea they would be worse but hey at least the draft class looks better this year and it honestly feels like this could be Lowe's and MacTavish's last season as the Oilers. Like I sort of sensed it when they hired Bob Nicholson away from being the POHO of Team Canada. Also in great Oilers news the Lowe Must Go facebook page www.facebook.com/Lowemustgo raised enough money ($5000 dollars) to buy ad space for the Edmonton Sun Newspaper to post this ad Friday I still call them Phoenix majority of the time.

Here's a depressing fact:
After 34 games the Anaheim Ducks have 49 points.
The Oilers are on pace for 49 points.
Lost 17 games out of the past 18 games. If only they didn't beat the Sharks a month ago. A 18 game losing streak would of been epic

Los Angeles is already considering moving Manchester to Ontario (the city, not the province), and there are talks about the Worcester Sharks moving after this season to be closer to San Jose. Considering that some of the East Coast times, like Norfolk and Portland, are in bad situations with arenas, they might also end up moving down the road, as well. I've been looking at this more (and making comments) over at the HFBoards. The Worcester story: www.telegram.com/article/20141218/NEWS/312189462/1009/sportsAnd, of course, the full Edmonton Sun article you quoted: www.edmontonsun.com/2014/12/18/with-no-okc-barons-next-year-oilers-will-likely-move-ahl-team-to-bakersfieldI still find it weird that the AHL is so East Coast-heavy and that several ECHL teams play in far better arenas than AHL clubs.

I wouldn't say exodus but there has been a rumored Western AHL division in the works for a few years now.

I wouldn't say exodus but there has been a rumored Western AHL division in the works for a few years now. Before this hypothetical concept, only three AHL clubs have ever been in the far west (Abbotsford, Utah, and Edmonton, with Manitoba being really close to that boundry). A five-team move to the west wouldn't actually be an exodus, but that would change up the makeup of both the AHL & the ECHL, which would probably move into some of the abandoned AHL towns.
