The Devils have actually looked like a decent team of late (the level of competition they've faced has certainly helped that), and now I'm conflicted: I don't feel like sitting through another 3+ months of crappy hockey, but I've stupidly gotten myself wrapped up in the notion they could win the lottery and score McDavid or Eichel.
Then again, their upcoming schedule includes Boston, the Islanders, and a California trip; that could put them right back in the sweepstakes.
Ugh. Honestly, at this point, I'm happy to see the young defensemen developing, Schneider/Kinkaid becoming a solid goaltending duo, and I'll REALLY be happy to see the team shed the contracts of its oldest players over the next year and a half. Gravy train couldn't ride forever in Jersey, and the last couple of years have proven that, but hopefully the young blue line means the return to competitiveness won't be too long a journey.

hamptonroads.com/2015/01/sources-admirals-being-sold-will-leave-norfolkThe plan of action is simple; Norfolk will be sold and relocated to San Diego. The days of two AHL teams sharing the same name are likely over. This, going along with the Oklahoma City Barons being replaced by the Bakersfield Condors, is going to begin the AHL West movement, and other contenders for relocation include Manchester, Worcester, and Glens Falls. Meanwhile, Norfolk will be serviced by an ECHL team next season.

RIP J.P. Parise. This may offend the Devils fans here but Im glad Zach signed home in Minnesota where he could be close to his father

Scored the biggest Islander goal pre 1980. Almost got never left Russia after lifting his stick at a ref in game 8 of the Canada Russia Summit Series. RIP JP Parise.

kings just scored 2 goals in 1:30 against the rangers i guess that's what happens when your backup goalie doesn't play for a month

That was a scary few minutes for the Rangers, but they keep the streak alive. 4-3 final. 12 wins in 13 games now.

SuperSweet probably doesn't know what to do with himself. Of all the teams the Oilers could possibly win 5-2 over... THE BLACKHAWKS. Wow.

I have now bet twice for Edmonton to lose this year. Both time they have won 5-2. Damn Oilers.

Plus this is a back to back for the Blackhawks who played in Minnesota the night before which is kind of far away from edmonton and they had a backup goalie playing. Also edmonton has always played good against the Blackhawks like remember that one season when Edmonton outscored the Blackhawks 17-6 at home one season including Gagners 8 point night?
Then again I don't know since I don't watch the games anymore and rely on recaps but so far all the games Nelson has coached solo he got at least one point out of it, I hear they have been playing way way better, and even Hall said recently in the interview he doesn't believe in intense practices but he loves how Nelson makes everyone works 100% in every drill. This has been a problem with the Oilers locker room for a decade because every long time ex Oiler (Smid, Cogliano, Gagner, Brodziak) have all said they are surprised how intense practices are with their new team.
Plus every f***ing coach made it seem like it's okay to lose as long it's a moral victory preaching paitence in their press conference that helped create this losing culture. Once again I'm conflicted because if the Oilers finish this season strong, Lowe and MacTavish will continue running the show and no McDavid or Eichel to ruin

I'm not a big fan of the current all star game format. I like that they tried to change it up but it's hard to get into a game with two teams made up of random players.

I see the Kings are deep into their yearly December through early February winter break. Lovely. *punches hole in wall*

Rangers win 3-1 over the Sharks. So: -They extend the winning streak to 5, and have won 13 of their last 14. -They become the first team from the East to beat the Canucks, Flames, Oilers, Ducks, Kings and Sharks on the road in a season since the 97-98 Canadiens. -Lundqvist won his 20th game this season. That makes it 10 straight seasons which he has done so. -Rick Nash scored an empty-netter to tie for most goals on the season.
