San Jose Hammerheads? San Jose Great Whites? California Seals?

So the Las Vegas expansion fees are expected to be 450-500 million. Columbus and Minnesota's franchise fees were 80 million 15 years ago. I'm still not sold on Vegas even though I'm sure they'll do better then Florida or Arizona but no way in hell is someone going to pay that money to put a team in Vegas.

In the least surprising news in the history of NHL history, Chicago will be in another outdoor stadium game in Minnesota. Colorado will also host the Detroit Red Wings in the same season. But really Chicago again? Seriously how many times will it be now? 5 or 6

Sucks Winnipeg to pushed back a year. Nice to see Avs and Red Wings getting an outdoor game. I miss that rivalry.

But really Chicago again? Seriously how many times will it be now? 5 or 6 Even the Red Wings being in, this'll be their third. I mean, at least Avs vs. Red Wings has some historical juice to it, but still. If I get a chance later I'm going to look up Keith Olbermann's segment on "There is No Original Six", because I wish like hell the NHL would stop obsessing itself with them.

But at least this is Detroit's third Stadium Game in a span of 7 years rather then Chicago getting their 3rd Stadium Game in a row! Also at least all of the Detroit Stadium Games were played against a historical rival while Chicago has some really f***ing random matchups like Pittsburgh, Washington, and was there really a rivarly in Minnesota? Like I know they share the same division and everything but they never had a big rivalry. But apparently they are saying NHL wanted Minnesota vs. Dallas but the Minnesota owner wanted Chicago.

In Vegas? I know UNLV would let them use the Thomas and Mack Center if it's an NHL team, but how on Earth could you even fathom that much for that, even with inflation? Plus, I still think Houston should get a crack... but they have zero hockey whatsoever, unless you count some NA3HL club in Sugar Land.

At least they have history with the Aero's and a built in rivalry in place with Dallas. Houston will work if they share the same arena as The Rockets or get an arena in Houston that is easily accessible and not put in a hard to reach suburb like Glendale. There is a new arena in Vegas that will be opened within a year. Still I think the Vegas team will do fine with the attendance for the most part since the arena will be built in the strip and there will be tons of hockey fan tourists like flights to Vegas are cheap as hell. But they are going to have trouble with season tickets when 2/3rd's of the population work the night shifts and Nevada has the highest unemployment or 2nd highest unemployment rates every year and a low household median income.

I've read before that a pro team in one of the big four leagues could come to Las Vegas, not have a single person show up to a game, and still be highly profitable. The casinos/resorts would just buy up blocks of tickets or suites and offer them as rewards to customers and gamblers.
I just hope, if they go through with it, they steal my fantasy league team's name, the Las Vegas Gonzos.
Would rather be hearing about progress in Quebec City right about now, though; I'm actually trying to learn some basic French so I can check out Nordique games if they return.

Seattle had been trying to get a team as well. I think they're a better fit.
And if the Central were to get another team, how about a place in Wisconsin? I think geographically that would be a great place for an NHL franchise.

Damn. I was hoping the Oilers would be last in something again. But seriously I was rooting for Ovi to get picked last

But seriously I was rooting for Ovi to get picked last I'm sure that everybody involved outside of Katheryn Tappen and James Mirttle were ranging anywhere from annihilated(Ovi, Giordano, Price) to buzzed(Dewey, Getzlaf, Shattenkirk). Also, it go lost in the shuffle, so I'll post it again, but this video is awesome:

The Fuel keep winning, and last night, knocked around the best team in the league, Allen, 4-1.

Toronto is going to host the All Star Game and possibly a Winter Classic for their Centennial Season at 2017. If that's true it's going to feel weird a non Bettman Seven team hosting a Winter Classic. Even weirder that this would be Toronto's Second Straight Season. Montreal should of hosted one during their Centennial Season.
Edit: If Toronto hosts it I hope it's against Ottawa. It'll probably never happen. But it would also be the Senators 25th anniversary.
