Well...as much as this sucks for me to say, but the ship has sailed for San Jose and we should have blown the team up the past offseason.

It would be dumb if they trade or let Niemmi walk. I think it's more along the lines more teams improved in the offseason then regressed and the ones who regressed never had a shot of making it anyways (Edmonton, Arizona). Or in the case of Dallas, Minnesota in the first half of the season pre Dubnyk, and maybe Colorado They had great goaltending last season and been snakebitten this year. Really only Arizona and Edmonton have no chance making it in the playoffs while everyone else still has a chance

Sather strikes again:
Darren Dreger @darrendreger So complete deal Yandle and Summers and a 4th for Duclair, J. Moore a 1st (2016) and a 2nd in 2015. Yotes retain 50% of Yandle's salary.

Man, that's a steep price for Keith Yandle. I would not have paid that much. Maybe the first , Duclair, and a late round pick. That's pretty steep.

Love that Yandle trade as an Isles fan. Now I don't have to worry about Duclair for the next decade.
Now to step back from fandom I think that was way too much to pay. A first, 2nd and Duclair for a PP QB? Idk just think that was a bit much. They do have him locked up for another year though so I guess that's another way to look at it. Still a very steep price to pay.
(note : I'm looking at Summers for Moore as basically a wash. Wouldn't get more than a 6th for either so I'm not factoring them in)

So the losing draft picks isn't all that bad. John Moore's replaceable. Duclair is a tough loss, but maybe he'll go the way of other highly touted former rangers prospects who haven't lived up to the potential they were projected to have(Bobby Sanguinetti, Lori Korpikowsi, Nigel Dawes, just to name a few)

Just something about this kid that had me worried down the line. Honestly say I'm not sorry to see him go.

As a Devils fan, I'm taking some joy out of the Rangers not having a first round draft pick again this year...or next year. I guess give them credit for going all-in while Lundqvist is still elite, but if they don't win it all in the next two seasons (and I honestly don't think they will...the stars aligned perfectly for them last year and they still got outclassed in the Final) it won't be pretty for awhile given the cap space hell they're going into. Still, playoffs are always at least part-crapshoot, so this at least boosts their odds for this season.
As for my team, still glad about the return Florida sent the Devils for Jagr, but now everybody's holding out hope that Zidlicky will waive his NTC and that a Cup contender will take on Havlat or Ryder for depth offense. Zids is the big one: it'd be glorious to deal him to somebody like Tampa, since they're ready for a playoff run and have prospects and draft picks to spare.

Man trade deadline is going to suck. I'm thinking the Rangers got fleeced in this trade. It would of been a good trade if Yandle had bunch of years left in his contract in which they only pay 50% of it and his cap value is only at 50%. After this season, Yandle only has one more year in his contract until he turns into a UFA and will expect a hefty pay raise.

I think Domi being a Coyote was the main reason Duclair got dealt. Plus if it means Zuccarello stays, then I'm for it.

I like Yandle a lot. I don't think the trade was horrible, but I don't think the Rangers should have given up THAT much.
I'm happy that it looks like they are, reportedly, getting close with Zuccarello on a contract, though.

Reports are saying the Rangers have signed Zuccarello to a 4yr/$18m deal. What kind of protection Zuccs get is still being worked on.

Sharks have traded James Sheppard to the Rangers for a 2016 4th round pick.
