So all of a sudden, Nashville stopped being a stellar team. They're on a 6-game losing streak giving up 3+ goals in each of them, and the Blues are 2 points away from taking the top Central spot. What in the world happened? Every bad team goes on a unusually high winning streak and every good team goes on a unusually high losing streak. There was a point earlier this season when Buffalo went on a 9 game winning streak and a 9-0-1 record. Honestly it seems like Pekka Rinne has cooled down a bit. Like at one point he was the dominant favorite to win the Vezina and a Hart nomination with his Hasek like dominance this year. Now it's Carey Price's turn to play the rest of the season like he's Hasek in his prime

What in the world happened? It happens, and it will be for the best for them. They need a cool off before the playoffs or else the cool off will be the playoffs.

Fans in Winnipeg are gonna have a second choice in hockey, as the team ownership is gonna move St. John's back to the 'Peg as (likely) the Manitoba Moose. Ironically, it was the Moose moving out of Winnipeg that encouraged the return of the Jets. Meanwhile, Montreal is moving Hamilton to St. John's, with hopes of having the team then moved to Laval. And, on the OHL level, Hamilton is expecting to get the Erie Otters.
So, more AHL shifting.

Fun to see the Devils have their big 1995 Cup team reunion, which included an alum game where Martin Brodeur scored a goal as a forward. THAT looked weird.
The good news in Devils land right now is that the team's young defense is really coming together very quickly, which, combined with Schneider, takes what felt like a completely lost season and turns it into a building block. Need to shed a ton of age and need a good influx of speed on offense, but this is looking like the type of core that could mimic the system Nashville's put together for awhile now: steady blue line play mixed with dynamism that leads to a lot of breakouts initiated by defensemen. You don't need Crosby and Malkin on your top two lines to win with a team that can do that, just steady production.
To be fair, though, Schneider's been playing to the tune of something like a .935 save percentage, which can't, and won't, last forever. It's just that the young guys on D gelling already takes a hell of a lot of pressure off the club when free agency time rolls around and they go looking for help on offense. If goal and the blue line are really solid, then they don't have to worry about trying to replace 4 out of the top 6 spots or something, and can just zero in more on solidifying RW however possible.

They can try and do the Nashville off season route. Trade depth players for a Goal Scorer, take chances on some reclamination projects and pray you have a forward prospect good as Forsberg

But I do think Price is the best goalie in the league by a semi-comfortable margin. Great goalie.

Pekka Rinne at the start of the season was on pace to finish the season with the best GAA and Save Percentage of all time a record set by Hasek. Now Carey Price is on pace to have the all time best season of a Goaltender. And without Price Montreal is nowhere as good as their record states they are. Like Price is the reason why there are up at least 5 spots up in the standings. Source I have both of them in my fantasy hockey league team.

Haha, I've owned Price and Fleury all year, and I've been quite happy. When you watch Price though, he's got no holes. His last month before the Blues game, he had something like 11 starts, 9 Wins, 14 goals against, and 3 shutouts. That's unreal.

And the scary thing is goalies reach their prime around 27-34 years old. Hasek started dominating the league at 29. Price is currently 27.

Price has turned into an amazing goalie. It's hard to believe he struggled so much when Halak (of all people) outplayed him. Granted, he was very young at the time. But he's come through his growing pains as an even better goalie than he was hyped to be. Which gives me some hope with Jake Allen, because he has looked horrible at times this year.

Goalies usually always peak late and are usually called up last of the prospects. Like I said goalies are always a crap shoot. The best goalies were drafted in way late rounds it seems or picked unusually early in the first round but that's rare.

Amazingly early for this, but we officially have 2 teams out of the playoff picture. Buffalo was eliminated yesterday as a result of Boston winning, and Edmonton was eliminated after losing to the Wings today.
Next teams facing elimination in their respective conferences are Toronto and Arizona.

Rangers beat the Islanders 2-1 in regulation. Lightning beat the Canadiens 1-0 in Overtime. This means both divisions in the East have 1st and 2nd separated by 1 point. Big difference is that the Lightning have played 1 more game than the Canadiens, and the Rangers have played 4 less games than the Islanders.

The Blues had a big win tonight on my boy Barret Jackman's goal from outside the zone. I'll take it. The Jets played us incredibly tough and tight last game. This game was sloppier, but they got a little too fiesty. Tyler Myers held Steen on one play, Steen answered by cross-checking Myers to the face. Then he got his ass beat. Steen is a pussy, and would be best served not giving a 6'8 guy a reason to punch him in the head. But Ott and Reaves both had to fight over clean hits. I hate that. Especially when Winnepeg was chasing hits all night. Lost a lot of respect for Winnepeg. Still really like Ladd though, he's a captain's captain.

Seriously f*** you Eakins You think you're pissed off now, wait until Nelson is fired in the off-season.(rightly or wrongly) Unless they land Bylsma or Babcock there is no reason to fire Nelson. And if they do land One of those two he should be demoted to assistant coach. Seriously if the oilers don't make it next season they'll tie Florida Panthers for longest playoff drought ever. Only one guy remains during those Miserable years. Kevin Lowe

Also, am I the only one who isn't a fan of the new playoff set-up? Yeah it's pretty stupid, but it does guarantee a load of inter-division series so I'll let it pass.
