Some people have complained that Hogan only shows up on RAW and Smackdown to "shill the network, brother."
As far as I can remember he's been involved in maybe two segments which weren't just shilling and that was standing alongside Cena to stare down the Wyatts, and then the admittedly epic Hulk/Austin/Rocky rendezvous at Wrestlemania 30.
I was a bit disappointed on his first few appearances that he was only there to plug the network and I had hoped he would somehow help out Daniel Bryan against the authority. However I then thought, really, what else is there for a 60 year old who can't wrestle to do?
The crowd still cheer for the guy, they always will. Use him sparingly as an ambassador of the WWE and have him show up now and then, though maybe not always to shill as the fans may grow to resent that. The odd nostalgia pop once or twice a year would be nice though.
However, and I don't know if they're already doing this, but a true ambassador of the 'E should be willing to only have the spotlight on WWE TV a couple of times a year. The remainder of the time he can go to special events and meetings and charities etc, where there isn't a huge amount of TV coverage but where his name attracts some attention for the WWE. I think that's what Vince has always wanted the Hulkster to become, the 'babe ruth' of the WWE.
What else could he do?
He could be the general manager of RAW, Smackdown, NXT, but after TNA, I'd rather he didn't.
He could manage a wrestler? Or would Hulk's combined mammoth ego + enormous popularity + massive charisma overshadow any superstar he is associated with?
Would Hulk Hogan make a good commentator?
How about working behind the scenes ala Pat Patterson on working out matches and storylines?
Wrestling trainer?
I, personally, would LOVE to see Hulk Hogan take on the Mene Gene kind of angle. Not on RAW/Smackdown/PPV's but on the shows on the network. I would have Hulk, in his enthusiastic manner, present programs like, say, "Kane's most monstrous moments". Or maybe he could be in programs and documentaries like Legend House?
He could maybe be a backstage interviewer like Mene Gene, but maybe he's too big a star for that?
Thoughts?
