Work 7 AM - I work HVAC/Computer systems primarily in schools and municipal buildings. Somedays I'm done at 2:30, somedays noon. Paid for 8 regardless.

I work 7am-3:30pm Mon-Fri with a half hour lunch. I can take off whenever I want without advanced notice. Just don't schedule something then no show.
I'm blessed with working conditions honestly. I have coworkers that bitch about work, and it always boils down to shit that just doesn't matter (whaa whaa they don't use X brand of coffee). That kind of bullshit. When that's the "main" complaint at your workplace, shut up and be thankful.

I work security at a few bars in town. The hours are not good in that there's not enough of them. 10pm to 4am. It's not a bad gig if you're on the Batman sleep schedule like I am. I just got hired at an actual professional security company in town so I'll probably be getting out of that racket soon, I suspect the hours will be more sane.

I will frequently be required to work on off days and we cannot be paid overtime for it.

Three of the five days that I work, I have to be there at 5 am. That's pretty shitty. I usually get off somewhere between 10 and 2:30 though so that's not terrible.

If I don't like my hours I can change them at any time. I can actually do that for both of my jobs. It is actually pretty nice to have that flexibility.

I work 11pm-7am (ish) five nights a week. It's great as I'm the department manager, so have total freedom about what I do on shift, and rarely have to deal with members of the public.
The only downside is the disastrous effect it has on my social and love lives.

I'm sexually assaulted and propositioned in the office every day by a relentless pervert.
Luckily, I work for myself.

The only downside is the disastrous effect it has on my social and love lives. Same here except I get off at 7:30. The problem for me is that I'm the only person that works in my department. I can't take two nights off in a row, my department is a complete wreck after only one night off. On the plus side though I get to listen to podcasts/music all night while I work.

I currently work 13HR+ a day, 6-7 days a week, in 110 degrees weather in the middle east... what's the upside to that again?

I work 1-9:30pm on Sunday through Thursday. I live pretty far from my job, so these hours work pretty well because they allow me to avoid any rush hour traffic that would make an already long drive even worse. It also allows me to have something resembling a regular weekend, with Friday and Saturday off. However, this also means I don't get to do community theater, which was may main social outlet for years. It also makes for a rather nocturnal existence, which can be a bit of a pain at times.

Honestly, I enjoy my work hours. It usually depends on what days I work, but with me being part-time right now, I usually work 11-4 or even 12-3. Not bad.

as an aside - i'm pretty lucky to work at a place where they don't care if you wear headphones all day. I couldn't imagine going back to working at a place where I couldn't.

I work Monday through Friday, starting somewhere between 7:30-8:00 AM and leaving about 4:30-5:00 PM. And I am absolutely satisfied with those hours.
Why, you might ask? After all, that's pretty typical, nothing special about them.
The reason would be because I've had way worse.
In my last job, I also worked 40 hours a week.
Only, I worked Tuesday through Saturday.
From NOON to NINE O'CLOCK PM.

I work 5pm - 9pm
Pros - Sleep in - Days to myself
Cons - Unsociable - I'd rather lose the Sleeping in & Days for the chance to meet up with friends after work for beers etc - Miss things on TV - I know record but it isn't the same as watching live

I do a minimum 25 hours a week (more than likely go over though). The rota varies week to week.
I could be doing a store open (in the kitchen cooking all of the freshly prepared food for shop floor) from 5.30am till 2.30pm or 3.30pm depending on the week/number of staff.
Or you could be doing a close another day which would be around 2/3pm till closing shop at 9 and most of the time finishing everything/locking up (like cleaning once all the customers have gone) by 10/10.30pm ish
And finally you could end up with an inbetween day shift on till from something like 9 till 6.
I enjoy the job/like all the people i work with/just happy to have a job being unemployed for so long after University. But it's hard to have a social life when you could either be starting at 5.30am or finishing at 10pm, and everything between

I just started at a new job and I f***ing love my schedule and company I work for. Right now for the first 8 weeks I'm in training from 8am to 430pm with a half hour lunch and two 15 minute breaks. I'm so happy about being with a company that allows/forces us to take our 15 minute breaks. At my last job breaks weren't an really an option and I felt chained to my desk for 8 hours.
The company I work for now is a leading health insurance provider in CA and unfortunately our office is open 7 days a week from 6am to 8pm. I'm hoping once my actual schedule comes out I get put on a Monday-Friday shift and work 10am-6:30. I'll probably end up working a Saturday or Sunday, but I just hope I don't have to be in the office befors 9am if that's the case.

We just went from 2 shifts to one very long shift, so I've been working at least 10 hours and more often 12 hours. I'm tired as all hell and barely have enough energy to even watch a movie or read after work...but the money's quite nice.

One think I hated when I worked graveyard shift, Midnight to 7 AM, is that when I got off work I would hit the local convenience store to get some beer. You won't believe some of the judgmental looks you get for buying booze at 7:30 in the morn, like you are some type of wino or something.
