I would say Power Rangers are more popular than Voltron ever was. (I prefer Voltron though) If either were a knockoff it was Voltron. Super Sentai existed before GoLion.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is this not technically the second forum that was associated with the original site?
Theoretically, the entire forum could be considered a superior knock-off!

This was the continuation of the original boards not a knock off. I believe the original company behind the boards went out of business and was shutting down so we moved to proboards.

A month after Taiyo Sentai Sun Vulcan, the fifth Super Sentai (the source material for Power Rangers), notable as the first to have a combining robot. They both by Toei though, so I don't know if you could say one was a knockoff of the other. Sentai had giant robots prior to Sun Vulcan though, starting with Battle Fever J in 1979.

Eh, close enough.

.....For me, it's Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing and Crash Team Racing. They both shamelessly copy Mario Kart, but are arguably come off as much more fun than the original games in their time(MK64 in CTR's case and MKwii in All Star's case), though your mileage may vary on that if you worship Mario Kart and think of them as knockoffs regardless... You don't scare me...

Not exactly knock-offs in many cases, but off-brand/lesser known brands of potato chips are vastly superior to name brands like Lays. Better-Made FTW! DEEEETROIT BEEEYOTCH!

Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans That's one of the strangest films I've ever experienced, what was it knocking off, out of curiosity?

Would all the slasher films that came out after Halloween (the movie, not the holiday) count?

Godzilla Better then 'The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms' I was going to say that! Superman > Doc Savage Batman > the Shadow Count Dracula > Lord Ruthven Tarzan > Mowgli Mega Man > Astro Boy Mickey Mouse > Oswald the Lucky Rabbit (himself an inferior knock-off of Felix the Cat, incidentally) Scooby Doo, Where Are You? > The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis many D&D-inspired video games > most actual licensed Dungeons & Dragons video games
