He was so pretty he should be been born a little girl!
Was that a line from a promo of his or a PWI thing?

You should check out an interview segment he had with Brian Pillman at the January 1992 Clash of the Champions. Pillman was delivering an awesome promo about wanting to challenge Jushin Liger for the light heavyweight title and Mero was mugging like crazy throughout the whole thing. He put a cut out of a pair of lips on Bischoff who was interviewing him. Oh I was roaring with laughter.

Mero also had a very short run as Johnny B Badd in TNA about 10 years ago, but it's much less remembered than his WCW run and he didn't wear the makeup or try to look like Little Richard.

He's kinda like the hair bands of the '80s. Chicks dig a guy who isn't afraid to look or act different. He just annoyed me at Beach Blast (think that was the show) during that beauty contest between Madusa & Missy. Acted like a stereotypical movie role hairdresser.
He and Page worked their butts off to get better.

Am I the only one who thought he was black? He was impersonating Little Richard and was paired with Teddy Long. I was shocked when he arrived in the WWF as a white man. There were quite a bit of people that thought the same. So much so that a large segment of his fan base was black. He mentioned in his shoot how he was asked about it directly during an interview with a black radio station and he dodged it to avoid alienating people.

Wait Johnny B Bad/Mero isn't black? I loved him as Johny B Badd and I didn't care for Wild Man Marc Mero at all. As a matter of fact I didn't realize it was the same guy until a few years ago.

His gimmick was that he was flamboyant and looked like Little Richard (one of his theme songs comes right out and says this). His name was a play on the Chuck Berry song 'Johnny B. Goode.' He acted effeminately initially, though his boxing background was always brought up and played-up in the matches. He also had a confetti gun called the Badd Blaster if I recall. Yeah, it was a pretty stupid. I think the best gimmick and best look for Mero was his 'Marvelous' Marc Mero look in 1997 and 1998, when he dressed like a boxer and cut his hair. I think more people remember him for Sable, though. FTFY.

I can't believe Vince picked this guy up thinking he would do something more with him. His promos were junk.
But I guess he thought he was "stealing" talent back from WCW on the low end hoping to strike gold.

He supposedly got a pretty big guaranteed contract and this was before Hall and Nash signed with WCW. I bring this up because of how WCW's signing of Hall and Nash has often been portrayed as the beginning of the guaranteed contract period, which many argue (such as Jim Ross) ultimately was negative to the business overall.

Marc Mero is probably also THE reason WWE doesn't sign anyone to guaranteed contracts anymore.

I liked Wildman Marc Mero the best and he was actually over in that role. Him and Sable in 1996 were like and updated baby face Savage and Liz and I think that's probably why they went down the Marvellous route with him being an asshole to her.

To her credit, Sable is a pretty solid business mind and seemingly handled a lot of it. I'm not implying anything untoward by that, she just genuinely made a good impression and did a good job selling her and Marc as worth the price, even if ultimately, Mero wasn't, and arguably, neither was Sable.

He hated the Gimmick! He was such an awesome worker and some racist lard ass(Dusty) gave him the stupid gimmick! Dusty has proven to be racist according to others who have said stories about him.

Am I the only one who thought he was black? He was impersonating Little Richard and was paired with Teddy Long. I was shocked when he arrived in the WWF as a white man. Well, WCW did their part to market him as a black man. The had him do interviews with Jet Magazine, appear with James Brown and even landed him on Arsenio Hall. There's a moment in the Arsenio Hall interview where Hall asks him "Do you think you'll become the first African-American world heavyweight champion?" And after a slight nervous pause, Badd goes "Whatever you say, Arsenio!" Crowd eats it up.

Johnny B Badd was a stupid gimmick, but it was a stupid gimmick that was over thanks to the hard work of the guy playing it. The big problem with Mero is he was the prototype for the 2000s WWE developmental guy, he was trained to work one way and play one character, when he couldn't do that, he floundered, and Sable did him no favours at all... Much like Chris Candido and Sunny before him, he ended up as a means to get her over when the entire point of valets is to do the opposite.
