Am I the only one who thought he was black? He was impersonating Little Richard and was paired with Teddy Long. I was shocked when he arrived in the WWF as a white man. Well, WCW did their part to market him as a black man. The had him do interviews with Jet Magazine, appear with James Brown and even landed him on Arsenio Hall. There's a moment in the Arsenio Hall interview where Hall asks him "Do you think you'll become the first African-American world heavyweight champion?" And after a slight nervous pause, Badd goes "Whatever you say, Arsenio!" Crowd eats it up. Can't be weirder than Slick claiming Akeem would become so on the same show.

He was so pretty he should be been born a little girl! Was that a line from a promo of his or a PWI thing? He said it in his debut promo at SuperBrawl 1. ... a line which once caused his opponent, a not-yet loose cannon Brian Pillman to yell into the camera "Johnny B. Badd oughta be Johnny B. GAY!!!" Which I believe sent the WCW announce team into a littany of appologies. And yeah, I thought he was black too.

So I watched some of the Marvelous Marc Mero. He wasn't over, or maybe the crowd was really dead for Summerslam.
Once he changed to the boxing gimmick a bit more he seemed to get more a response, everyone hated him because of what he did to Sable.
Before that, he was a bust. IMO

Somewhat related to Mero, but I was watching Uncensored '96, and during the DDP/Booty Man match, they mocked Johnny B. Badd for leaving because "he couldn't compete where the big boys play". Schiavone did this at least two or three times during the match.
Which I thought was super professional and not-at-all bitter.

Elvis v. Little Richard?? WCW- Where the wrestler impersonating Little Richard is named as a take off on the title of a Chuck Barry song (and is given entrance music with a Chuck Barry-esque guitar riff as opposed to Little Richard-esque piano playing), and where you have an Elvis impersonating wrestler and a manager named Colonel Parker (who boasts about being the world's greatest promoter) and don't pair the two of them up.

Didn't Maxx Payne shoot him in the face with the Badd Blaster? Yes. Then he had to wear a mask because of all the damage the confetti caused. Yes younger FANs this was a thing that happened. I hope he screamed out, "My eyes! The doctor says I'm not supposed to get confetti in them!"
