Watching some older WCW, what the hell was Johnny B Badd's deal?
I remember him as a kid and he was a face but he's a wrestler wearing make up all the time? But he still gets really hot girls?
I know he was "So Pretty" but I just didn't understand it. Couldn't he just be "pretty" and have an amateur background without wearing make up.
Am I just missing something here?

His gimmick was that he was flamboyant and looked like Little Richard (one of his theme songs comes right out and says this). His name was a play on the Chuck Berry song 'Johnny B. Goode.' He acted effeminately initially, though his boxing background was always brought up and played-up in the matches. He also had a confetti gun called the Badd Blaster if I recall.
Yeah, it was a pretty stupid. I think the best gimmick and best look for Mero was his 'Marvelous' Marc Mero look in 1997 and 1998, when he dressed like a boxer and cut his hair. I think more people remember him for Johnny B. Badd and 'Wild Man' Marc Mero, though.

That's it, I totally forgot about Little Richard until you guys brought it up.
So he's a wrestling Little Richard who can't sing but he can box, got it.
Guess there are certain things you just try to forget.
Totally agree the Marc Mero boxer was his best look

Though from what I remember Mero got really over as Johnny B. Badd.
Which is one of the reasons Vince hired him... but he couldn't BE Johnny B. Badd in the WWF...

Well the thing about Johnny B Badd... is that you don't wanna make him mad.
He's also as pretty as a picture and he looks like... well, they already said it.

I actually just saw that Starrcade 1994 show where Honky was supposed to face Johnny B. Badd but walked over money and not wanting to job. Truth be told I can see where HTM is coming from. What Elvis impersonator would EVER job out to a Little Richard impersonator?
There was even a Badd/DDP feud when DDP was finally getting over with Kimberly now a part of his act. They had a PPV match where the winner got Kimberly or something and Badd won. DDP of course was outraged. Page, you had nothing to worry about. She was as safe as if she was with your sister. All kidding aside, how did WCW not think of doing a DDP/Kim vs. Badd/Rena mixed tag?

His finisher was the Kiss that don't miss... except when the other guy ducks and it misses

Am I the only one who thought he was black? He was impersonating Little Richard and was paired with Teddy Long. I was shocked when he arrived in the WWF as a white man.

Johnny B. Badd was cool when I was a kid and like was said before he was actually really over.
But what turned him face? I know he feuded with like Z-Man, but then when I finally got cable and was able to watch again he was already a face. Not that ten year old me cared in 1993.

It was Marc Mero doing a Little Richard gimmick what's not to get?! Exactly! It was in the lyrics to his entrance music: "Here comes Johnny B Badd!/You don't want to make him mad./He's as pretty as a picture/He looks just like Little Richard!

Didn't Maxx Payne shoot him in the face with the Badd Blaster?

Didn't Maxx Payne shoot him in the face with the Badd Blaster? Yes. Then he had to wear a mask because of all the damage the confetti caused. Yes younger FANs this was a thing that happened.

1992/1993 WCW was something to see! I mean that in a both good and bad way.
