From wrestleinc:
Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter
We noted before that WWE automatically extended Rey Mysterio's contract for another year because of a clause that allows them to do that if a talent misses a certain amount of time due to injuries. There are still concern whether or not Rey will be returning to action for WWE. He has reportedly stopped cashing any of his WWE paychecks, which could be a sign that he plans on taking action to get out of his deal.
If this is true and he is leaving, I wish him the best of luck, he was a good wrestler, broke the size barrier, was a team player enduring terrible storylines, fans will remember him for ever. I truly hope he retires, I don't know what is the condition of his knees, but they can't be good, I don't want to see this "What is Oscar Gutierrez doing in the impact zone?" The timing is a little weird, being that Mark Burnett and Robert Rodriguez are working closely with the AAA promotion...

I still think that it's kind of bullshit that the E can extend a contract if you miss time with an injury.

This story sounds made up. The bank probably just couldn't cash the checks because they couldn't confirm his identity.

I still think that it's kind of bullshit that the E can extend a contract if you miss time with an injury. How? Ray Ray owes an "x" amount of hours to the WWE. It's awful that he got injured, but he is obligated to fulfill is contract whether or not he is cashing in the checks. I lost a lot of respect for this mediocre wrestler and hope he has a difficult time finding another job if he does weasel his way out.

Don't wages get paid directly into bank accounts? Normally you have to set up a direct deposit system. He may not have... though it sounds like it'd be a hell of a lot easier that way instead of trying to cash it while on the road.

So long and good riddance. I was never a fan of Rey, and I thought he was over-pushed as hell.

I want to believe he enjoys carrying around his money in bags with a dollar sign on them like Scrooge McDuck.

That's like LeBron getting hurt and missing a season and the Cavs trying to add another year because he "owes" them x amount of games per season. If Rey signed a 3 year deal when that three years is up he should be able to go free regardless. That's why it's bullshit. If the WWE guys are dumb enough to sign deals where they have to make a certain amount of dates instead of for a certain amount of years I don't know what to say.

Good. Rey got f***ed over by the company and I hope he wins out in this. This guy murdered himself for this company and if I said his knees were f***ed I'd be exaggerating how good of shape they are in. So instead of cutting their loses, they want to keep the guy in hopes he'll wrestle again and make things worse.

I hope Rey saved his money, I don't want to hear about his parents squandering it away, same thing happened with Garry Coleman, that's the reason child stars turn to drugs.

That's pretty damn scummy that WWE is trying to force Rey, who has busted his ass for the company for years at the expense of his health, to keep working for them when he's finally ready to settle down. Jesus Christ, no wonder Punk walked away if this is the type of shit they try to pull.

I imagine Rey chilling at home in his favorite lazy boy with his left leg up on a leg rest and a remote in his hand, looking through the TV guide channel when one of his kids come up to him with the mail for today. He takes the mail and sees a check from WWE and looks at it for a long moment before say no and telling his child to throw it away with all the other junk mail. He then proceeds to keep looking through the TV guide channel like nothing.

Probably, but the only way he can get out of it is by working x number of dates. However, due to his health, he can't work the dates because he'll just get injured again.
