For me, comics have been in the gutter over the recent years. Despite Marvel's self hype, House of M was really crappy and boring and nothing but a bunch of heads talking, but they're making it out to be like it was the Age of Apocalypse/Dark Phoenix Saga all over again. I can't buy Scarlet Witch as a superpowerful villain, expecially when they just make up new powers for her on the fly. For me, though, nothing beat Avengers/JLA. That was one of the coolest series that I've had the priveledge of reading. It was everything great about comic books that needs to be brought back. Lots of fights, great dialogue, superhero science and engineering, space gods, a quick pace, great great great plot. So, whats the last great comic that you've read?

A graphical novel called "the Walking Dead" was very good, and I very much enjoyed the new Punisher series.

ARKHAM ASYLUM ANNIVERSARY EDITION SC Written by Grant Morrison Art and cover by Dave McKean In celebration of the 16th anniversary of the Batman story that helped launch the U.S. careers of Grant Morrison and Dave McKean, DC Comics presents a softcover edition of the Arkham Asylum Anniverary Edition, reprinting the now-classic confrontation between the Dark Knight and his archnemeses the Joker, Two-Face, Scarecrow, Poison Ivy, and more in the black heart of Gotham City's house for the criminally insane. This graphic novel is well known for its psychological intensity and probing portraits of Batman and the Joker, as well as groundbreaking art that influenced scores of artists by introducing a new school of storytelling and technique to comics. This special edition also includes Morrison's complete original script annotated by both himself and editor Karen Berger, many of his original thumbnail breakdowns, step-by-step samples of how the story and art came together and much more! That's the best I've read in a long while.

I am in the minority here since I am not much of a comics fan, but as a kid I remember being freaked out whenever the goody guys got to fighting with each other, e.g. Superman vs. Batman vs. Green Lantern vs. Wonder Boobies.

I haven't read too many since the mid 90's. Some of the best that I had ever read are as follows:
The Knight's End, Knight's Fall, and Prodigal Son series for Batman produced several good storylines.
The Death of Superman (those last several pages were powerful)
The two Ace issues of the Amazing Spiderman from the 80's
The Elseworlds issue where it was the Waynes instead of the Kents that found Kal-El (Superman as Batman, basically)
The extremely rare (and the one I want to get again. Where did mine go? I wish I knew) anti-drug special for the Teen Titans from the early 80's. The story would get interupted every 12 pages or so for a full-page testimony by one of the characters in the issue. The character would talk about how drugs had affected their life. The most interesting of those testimonies was by Titan member Speedy (later known as Arsenal). For those who don't know, Speedy was basically Green Arrow's Robin, but he later became a drug addict.

The Loki mini-series from a couple years ago. Not really a huge deal, more of an undiscovered gem. It centers eventually on the fact that no matter what he chooses to do, Loki is evil and Thor will always beat him. I find that quite interesting, that even if wanted to change his life, he's forced to be the God of Mischief/Evil. It's a quiet epic with gorgeous painting.
The HC's less than 20 bucks. Pick it up, True Believers...

Does the Masters of the Dinner Table count? I've been meaning to pick up a few copies of that.

The last great comic book I read was "Warrior". (As in, the Ultimate Warrior comic book.)
It was the only comic book I'd read up to that point, and it's the only one I've read since.

Is that that rare? I've got both of them... I'm a big mark for the Persuader. The best recent comic I read was Infinite Crisis, and the best older one I've read recently is The Golden Age.
