I KNEW the NHL was behind it somehow! But yeah, that explanation sounds about right for the craziness that ensued in that movie. Well, not the NHL per se, but an owner of an NHL team. Suffice to say, the mid-90s were an odd time for the league. The mid 90s was a crazy time for a lot of things. I mean, Air Bud happend. After that it was just pure insanity.

Episode 27: The Shepherd: Border PatrolThe Shepherd: Border Patrol doesn't have a lot of borders being patrolled or anything being shepherded anywhere. Van Damme portrays Jack Robideaux, a cop who joins with the New Mexican border patrol to get revenge for his daughter OD'ing on heroin. I know. It doesn't make sense. Its a rough one folks, so apologies in advance. Enjoy the podcast and be sure to share it with friends. Also if you subscribe via iTunes, please help us out and leave us a review and rate our podcast 5 stars to help get the word out. We're also on the Stitcher Radio App for all you android users. Next week: Van Damme etc: Street Fighter, Expendables 2, and some of his commericals

Aw I am dissapointed you guys didn't enjoy The Shepherd because I enjoyed it but I guess because I just took it at face value and just enjoyed for a simple Vandamme action flick.
And by this point I was more than familiar with Scott Adkins at this point from the undisputed movies and really he in any fight scene never goes wrong.
And Maria called poor Scott Adkins lanky someone show that woman Unisputed 2 and 3 she will have a quick change of heart lol.
And speaking of Scott you guys should get used to him because he is gonna be a constant for the next few episodes.

That dude was much cooler in Expendables 2. I'm interested to see if he gets better the longer he works with Van Damme, and he didn't have a very big role in The Shepherd so I'm sure it'll get better the more he gets used.

Episode 29: JCVD (2008)A movie so good we had to split it into TWO parts. 2008's JCVD, part one. We spend an hour talking about the first 45 mins of Jean Claude Van Damme's foreign-language masterpiece about a fictionalized version of himself being held hostage in a bank robbery. This film is amazing and emotional and even has one of the best action sequences we've seen in a while within the first 5 mins. Download it now and enjoy the greatness of Van Damme! Enjoy the podcast and be sure to share it with friends. Also if you subscribe via iTunes, please help us out and leave us a review and rate our podcast 5 stars to help get the word out. Episode 31: Universal Soldier 3: RegenerationWow. WOW. Way better than Universal Soldier 1, the 3rd in the franchise is action films done right. Coming off JCVD, Van Damme made a smart choice with UniSol3. Between him, badass MMA fight scenes and Dolph Lundgren acting his Swedish ass off, this movie absolutely crushes it! Watch it. Listen to this podcast and then tell EVERYONE about both! Enjoy the podcast and be sure to share it with friends. A few of my favorite gifs from this week's movie! There is some AWESOME stuntman work happening in this movie. Both gifs are practical effects.

Another crazy practical effect. Also - spoiler'd for violence. I just love the way Van Damme paused behind this wall for a second. {Spoiler}

Episode 33: Dragon EyesThis week JCVD really isn’t in the film we cover. Dragon Eyes has Van Damme for about 15 minutes, but somehow we find a way to talk about it for an hour +. Episode 34: Universal Soldier 4: Day of ReckoningHow many franchises can say that the FOURTH film in the series is the best? Well, Universal Soldier is that franchise. UniSol4 is a mind bending twist into the UniSol world where one man must decide what's real and what's not as he hunts down a rouge Luc Devearaux. Really enjoyed this one! HIGHLY recommend. It's like Momento + Philip K Dick + Apocalypse Now + Van Damme!!! Enjoy the podcast and be sure to share it with friends. My favourite in the series I loved the twist which blew me away when I first saw it , although Vandamme as the villan just never sat right with me but still it was a risk that paid off and Scott Adkins if he did not win you over with his previous performances IMO should with this one.
Oh and next time I walk into the sporting goods section I am bringing Scott along lol..

In the end though he was only kinda a villain when you think about it. The ending really flipped it all around.

I like the theory that I read sometime ago when this movie first came out that since the movie deals with clones that the Luc in this movie was not the real one but infact a clone also.

Episode 36: Welcome to the JungleWELCOME TO THE JUNGLE!! Van Damme plays the leader and coach of a wilderness team-building seminar that goes horribly, horribly, wrong. Van Damme stretches his comedic wings and Rob Huebel and Kirsten Schall bring some really great comedy to this one. Mainly a comedy, but Van Damme does fight a tiger - so there is some action. Without a doubt Van Dammes funniest role IMO he just looks like he is having a ton of fun and is more or less making fun of himself especially in his intro scene.
Was wondering why you guys did this now since Enemies closer was the movie prior to this but thats simply curiosity and not any sort of nitpick , can't wait for Enemies Closer since Van Damme also came off in that movie like he had an absoloute ton of fun in the role even though they are complete opposites on the film spectrum.
