In Dragon Gate BxB Hulk was the champion who for some reason agreed to defend the title in a 4 on 1 elimination handicap match against Mondai Ryu, Naruki Doi, Kzy, and Cyber Kong, he eliminated Kong and Ryu before getting pinned by Doi. As a result of the fact that this was a 4 on 1 handicap match Doi has been named the Provisional champion meaning he will not be recognized as the champion unless he can defeat BxB Hulk in a rematch later this month, If Hulk wins his title reign will continue and that match will be considered his first defense, if Doi wins then he will officially be considered the 21st Open the Dream Gate champion.
The two main things that are wrong with this in order from worst to least stupid.
#1: WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU PUT THE TITLE ON THE LINE IN A HANDICAP MATCH???!!! #2: What difference would it make in the story line if they just overall didn't recognize Doi's match as any type of title victory? Especially with the title match scheduled having the stipulations what they are.
Could any Dragon Gate fan please explain this to me?
The two ways I would have done it. 1) NOT PUT THE DAMN TITLE ON THE LINE IN A FREAKING HANDICAP MATCH!!! or if I did 2) Have the Stipulations like this, If Doi wins the title match the change in the handicap match is recognized and this is counted as Doi's first defense, and if Hulk wins the title change in the handicap match is no longer recognized and this is counted as Hulk's first title defense.
I Think that they should correct this whole stupid situation with the second option.

Funny title for the thread lol, for the last 2 years new japan has been using non clean finishes, and evil factions (bullet club for example), it could be the case that gado and jedo like American wrestling.

Dragon Gate has a large amount of heel factions (And Factions in general) But this is something most American companies wouldn't do and it is special levels of stupid.

I'm going to be called a racist or a bigot for this but it's the truth. You will never see a white wrestler get over in Japan. I don't give a shit if you're an American, I don't give a shit if you're a Canadian. I'm Japanese, that's what I want to see.

You're talking about a company that had a tradition of holding a big clusterf*** of a cage match to decide which of their various (usually 5+) factions would get disbanded and he only thing noteworthy I remember them doing the last few years was the Jimmy thing.
They don't really operate under the regular way Japanese booking goes. And I don't mean that hey work like DDT, in that they're silly, they know it and rever in it. DG just never seemed to know what it wanted to be from 2007 onwards. Perhaps because of that, a lot of its western fans kinda drifted away, even if they still do good (and inflated, since they were the kings of inflated attendances) business in Japan.

DG doesn't give a f*** anymore about their US fans, nor should they. It's a product catered to women and gay men in Japan. They're spotfests and have continue turns because they're a soap opera with good looking wrestlers doing flashy moves.
Because of the language barrier, we don't know the full stories being told, only snippets. It might make perfect sense, but we don't know.

Is it true that dg is the number 2 puroresu company? Waaaayyyy behind njpw Pretty much by default? I can't remember if AJPW even has TV right now, NOAH doesn't have TV...DGUSA is #2 in the same way TNA is #2 here, I think.

Daniel Bryan brought this up while talking to young wrestlers(don't know what it's from) and he pretty much agrees with you. If your a Caucasian wrestler over in Japan you're only there to make their talent look good. You'll get some wins and be entertaining but their guy is going over in the end.

I can't agree with this being true. Being that AJ Styles is the NJPW World Champion over there. Prince Devitt again was champion over there. Brock Lensar went over there as became champion before he decided to do whatever he did to make that title the 3rd Gen deal. Giant Bernard (A-train) was booked like a total monster over there and with Tomko dominated tag team wrestling for a good while.

Must of missed the weight gain when he left TNA.

DDT, for all its shenanigans, at least has booking that is easier to follow than Dragon Gate almost 100 percent of the time.

I'm kinda not getting the huge problem here. He put the title on the line probably because he was goaded into doing so. Face champs get talked into dumb title defenses; this is hardly a rare thing.
Also, Doi is sorta-champ because it heightened the stakes for the last match and heightens the stakes for the next match. This really doesn't seem all that nuts.

To be fair Dragon Gate is basically Spotfest American Indies: Japan and they do weird shit from time to time for the sake of it.
Plus they're not the number two promotion in Japan, that could go to AJ, NOAH, WRESTLE-1, or even f***ing Big Japan. Hell, DDT can sell out the Kokugikan or Budokan once a year while mainly running shows in Shin-kiba 1st Ring, which holds 300 people max. The only major in Japan right now is NJ, everyone else is kinda in a weird grey territory.
But yeah, a 4 vs 1 handicap title match is just stupid.

AJ Styles and the Bullet Club are dominating NJPW right now, but doing so in a way that still makes the local guys look good. Bullet Club matches are so full of interference that I had difficulty even telling how good Prince Devitt was as a wrestler by watching his Bullet Club era matches - all I remembered was the formula where the other guy had Devitt dead to rights, distraction, interference, Devitt turns the match around and gets a win. The whole Bullet Club gimmick is designed to give the foreginers a prominent role without ever implying that they're on the same level as the home guys. This is all without even pointing out that the Bullet Club is a very recent game-changer by bookers who happen to really love bringing in American wrestlers. Even Giant Bernard, the most successful foreigner of the 00's, was never a feature player. Always a big deal, but you're looking at Japan's Umaga, not their Batista or Undertaker. Stan Hansen is the true exception, I'd estimate.

Which means... I was right, bro. The thing you fans on the internet don't understand is that Vince Russo is wrestling, bro. {Spoiler}{Spoiler} Deal with it!
