The bit in brackets denotes the highest position each match was voted in case that isn't clear. So as we go on, there will be cases when a match is voted number one but it won't be shown how many times it came second and so forth.

As it happens, there's a 4-way tie for 20th to start us off: T-20 John Cena vs. Triple H - WWE Championship - WrestleMania 22 - April 2, 2006 - 3 Points (Voted #9 once)Triple H was set to face John Cena at this WrestleMania, and Hunter, being the stand-up guy he was, sold us on this match by telling us that John Cena, still a fresh face at the time, wasn't all that good. So Triple H went out and lost to somebody who wasn't all that good. But not before a good math and the second of many WrestleMania championship wins for Cena.

T-20 John Cena vs. CM Punk - WWE Championship - Night of Champions 2012 - September 16, 2012 - 3 Points (Voted #8 once)The Best in the World was rapidly approaching his 365th day as WWE Champion. Cena, meanwhile, had his Money in the Bank cash-in thwarted by a very angry Big Show and never got his rematch. And so, this match was set up. Punk wore Yankees trunks, Cena got boo'd in Boston, and in one of the more creative finishes in recent memory, Cena literally lost because he wasn't all that good and failed to bridge on a German Suplex. The No-Decision led to a successful, albeit controversial, retention for Punk.

T-20
John Cena vs. Wade Barrett - Hell in a Cell 2010 - October 3, 2010 - 3 Points (Voted #8 once)
If Cena wins, Nexus must disband. If Barrett wins, Cena must join Nexus.CENA'S FREEEEE!!!! ...hold on, Cena's not free. My bad. In spite of Matt Striker's botch, the results were set: John Cena, having lost to Nexus leader Wade Barrett, would join Nexus. Thanks in no small part to Husky Harris and Michael McGilliutty, Cena lost and proceeded to get Barrett a glass of water, among several other duties.

Small correction, the Hell in a Cell match forced Cena to join the Nexus. It was Survivor Series where he got "fired".

T-20 John Cena vs. Chris Jericho vs. Edge vs. Kane vs. Mike Knox vs. Rey Mysterio - Elimination Chamber for the World Heavyweight Championship - No Way Out 2009 - February 15, 2009 - 3 Points (Voted #8 once)Mike Knox in a best matches countdown. Not something you see everyday. The Champ was rolling to WrestleMania 25 with seemingly nothing in his path. But per orders of GM Vickie Guerrero, Cena would defend inside The Devil's Playground itself. Cena started out strong, but a Spear followed by a 619 followed by a Codebreaker would put his hopes to rest. At the end of the day, The Rated-R Superstar would put Mysterio away to claim championship gold yet again, though not for long...

19 John Cena vs. CM Punk - WWE Championship - SummerSlam 2011 - August 14, 2011 - 4 Points (Voted #7 once) Special Guest Referee: Triple HIn the first of the matches after the tie for 20th, we have the second encounter between Punk and Cena. We know the story: CM Punk won the WWE Championship at Money in the Bank and fled with the title. In the interim, Rey Mysterio won a tournament to crown a new champ, but lost it to Cena that night. Then CM Punk returned with his belt, and so this match to determine an Undisputed Champion was held. Hunter stayed neutral, but failed to notice the rather crucial element of Cena's foot on the ropes in the finish. Punk won and got to be Undisputed Champ for about 2 minutes before everything went to hell and Del Rio cashed in.

T-16 John Cena vs. The Rock - WrestleMania 28 - April 1, 2012 - 5 Points (Voted #6 once) Once in a LifetimeAnd from one tie to the next we go. Soon after his controversial loss to The Miz at WrestleMania 27, a match reset by The Rock, Cena laid out the challenge. At WrestleMania 28 in Miami, Cena would face The Rock. What would follow was a year's worth of hype, a tag team match against Miz and R-Truth at Survivor Series, and of course the "I Bring It...Via Satellite" t-shirt that WWEShop really should've sold at one point. But when the big night finally arrived, Cena as he is wont to do caused his own downfall by attemtping to hit The People's Elbow and instead running into a Rock Bottom.

T-16 John Cena vs. John Morrison vs. The Miz - Steel Cage Match for the WWE Championship - Extreme Rules 2011 - May 1, 2011 - 5 Points (Voted #6 once)Speaking of Miz, we go next to what would be his last stand. Cena would cash in his rematch clause after WrestleMania. Morrison, meanwhile, won his way into the match by goading R-Truth to put his #1 Contendership on the line in London and winning. This would result in Truth's turn and would soon bite Morrison in the ass. Yes, Morrison seemed to have the match won, but as he was climbing out, none other than Truth would ambush The Shaman of Sexy, beat him down, and climb out of the cage himself. As for the actual finish, Cena Adjusted Miz's Attitude from the top rope, won the Championship, and would tell the folks in Tampa that the United States had killed Osama Bin Laden after the PPV signed off.

T-16 John Cena vs. Edge vs. Randy Orton vs. Shawn Michaels - WWE Championship - Backlash 2007 - April 29, 2007 - 5 Points (Voted #6 once)The last part of the tie sees our second multi-man match in a row. With the Champ standing tall after WrestleMania 23, HBK (who had his rematch clause), Edge (who really really dislikes Cena), and Randy Orton (who was just growing into the Viper persona) would each vie to unseat Cena. After a long, intense match where any of the four had a shot at the belt, Cena would get the cover on Orton and reign on. But nobody could deny that Cena had earned it.
